I will never forget how utterly riveted I was watching this episode and that ending? Let's just say it was the longest weekend of my life, I was such a Luke & Laura fan. I've watched alot of TV over the years and nothing will ever equal my obsession for this storyline. Kudos to every actor, writer, director, producer, they caught lightning in a bottle everything just came together.
Wow so wow thank you 5x5 you my GH fan friend has said it all! That was so profound I loved every word you wrote. Am sorry it took so long to read your brilliance. My eyes are not like they use to be! YOU MY GH FRIEND SAID IT ALL! JMVHO!PEACE OUT Rosie!
Yes...the writing, the acting, the storylines. I never really thought about the people behind this story when I was a kid, but I do now. This episode was when I started watching with my mom. Forty years from now, I see how skillful and clever the dialogue was. I really appreciate the people behind it. I wonder who some of them were.
It's nice to be able to watch this show again or for the first time and see what the big fuss was all about, or to see episodes we may have missed at the time or don't remember.
I saw it all happen right in front of my eyes.. I will never forget wow. What a storyline this was wow. Luke did not have a chance... I think Luke knew all the time what was going down.... yes he did....Love Rosie
I could never get enough of both wedding fight scenes from Luke and Scott. I watched both fights when I was a kid. I used to draw cartoons of both fight scenes, called Luke vs Scott. Their record vs each other was 1 and 1
Jeff: "It's a great day for a wedding".. Ann: "It's a great day for a wedding" Billy Idol: ..."It's a nice day for a white wedding..It's a nice day to..start again" 🎶🎶💕 🥰😁 ("White Wedding" - 1982)
But wait, isn't this fight scene AFTER Laura and Scottie's wedding, but BEFORE Luke and Laura's wedding ( July, 1981 )? I can't remember back that far, LOL! Anybody?
@stellarocquie7957 yes,you are correct. I REMEMBER THIS SERIES!! I was like 12 in 79 and that's when I caved into the aunties and my mom and started watching! Lol MY mom watched GH since the late fifties I think.
Yes this was in between. Laura was married to Scotty. She had fallen for Luke despite what he did to her. She finds Luke when he come comes up out of the water in another location undetected by everyone else. She goes on the run with him to uncover the secrets of the little back book and take down Frank Smith. This would be their first adventure together and it takes them to Beechers Corner. When they come back to Port Charles successful at their mission Scotty had moved to Mexico disgusted by Laura leaving him for Luke. End of 1980 is the start of. The Ice Princess SL and Robert Scorpio and Cassidines become part of the show. That SL goes to the end of summer of 81. After that Laura tracks down Scotty to get a Mexican divorce and marries Luke in November 1981.
Yep, that's true. GH was scheduled for cancellation when Gloria Monty was bought on as producer, and she revolutionized soaps forever. The on location shots, especially for this episode, were so compelling and authentic to watch. Not to mention TG at his finest, and a great KO by KS. The rest, of course was history...
I remember this from 1980. Never forgot it. The fight where Luke was knocked overboard by Scott was on Friday afternoon so you could stew over the weekend.
Ain't that George Gaynes before he was on Punky Brewster as Henry Warimont & Commander Lassart of Police Academy sequel movies? That's rare. Soleil Moon Frye couldn't remember that, she's way too little to remember haha.
IT WAS AWESOME. EVERY TIME I WATCH THIS SCENE I YELL OUT COME ON SCOTTY, HIT LUKE OVER BOARD. LUKE AND LAURA CAN NOT BE TOGETHER ON THE RUN IF HE DIDN'T GO OVER THE SIDE OF THE BOAT. IT STOPPED THE WEDDING AND THE REST IS HISTORY.....
In an interview Ken Shriner said they sure didn’t know at the time…..the real magic started with Luke and Laura on the run that summer. He sort of half regretfully called it the million dollar punch 🤜
@@aamanpour3630 I think they obviously sensed something plot line chemistry and all. But I don’t think anyone foresaw the crazy popularity and following they gained. I’m sure Kin thought he’d have a larger role since the show was aimed that way until Tony came on board
I used to be so into GH after I discovered it in '83 onwards, so this is before my time. I know of the history and the big deal GH was. First time seeing this. Thanks for the upload. Now I see the inspiration for future GH with Frisco and Robert and all that. No other soap can compare, only our to replicate this magic.
Makes me Sad when I hear Lee yo Scotty, "What's the Matter, Son?" So lovingly, Not realizing, that He will never be the Same, from that Moment on. And he'll be Changed forever.
An iconic moment, to be certain, but it does beg one question: why didn’t anyone intercede when they started pummeling each other? If anything, given their respective characterizations, Brian and Joe would have definitely tried to stop the fight, right? At any rate, another treasure for the viewers interested in the show’s storied history. Thanks for the up.oad!
I remember him george gaynes we was on punky brewster and police academy and more TV shows and movies rip to him he's gone with the Lord 🙏 forever gone but not forgotten amen.
I felt sorry for the wedding attendees and bridal party. They all bought gifts, planned and purchased wedding attire, got to the yacht, and witnessed NO wedding. I suppose the excitement and drama of the day was quite enough entertainment. 😜
This Fight Changed Soap Opera History... The Summer of Luke and Laura on the run GH struck Lightning in a bottle and had similar Gold with Sonny and Brenda but destroyed both couples over time....
I remember this yrs ago kin Shriner as scotty baldwin got into a fight knock anthony geary as luke spencer in the water from the big cruise good memories in those days brings back a lot of memories and moments General Hospital scotty beat the hell out of him almost killed him anthony geary as luke spencer messing around with his wife scotty told him up wow i want forget that long's i live everybody is gonna look back how funny it was but scotty didn't play at all he whipped his arse i want forget that episode never i love that soap opera General Hospital birthday party.
I was 5 years old I watch fight between Luke and Scott I remember Luke raged Laura on ship Scott find out what happened to Laura that why when war happen Laura fall in love with Luke got married 1981 Scott life got total destroy because Luke and Laura what they did him he always hate Luke what he has done him 👍👍
Scotty why you didn't do this to Luke in those other fight scence over the years I be screaming at the tv get him back forget the writers adlib Luke you are not beating me I don't care if you are good freinds in real life forget that you think Tony is thinking that i promise you hes not
I'm not understanding why wasn't you doing that over the years 90s in the 2000 against Luke Duke Nick Kevin Mac bruh i don't get it when you came back to the show in i think 81 or 82 i would have been living in the the gym to get prepared for war those court fight scenes with Nick and Duke me I'm swinging back right to the body then upstairs to the chin, but that was a classic fight scene TKO Luke yeah.
KIN YOU WAS A BAD MAN MENTALLY AND PHYICALLY NOT EVEN TONY COULD TOUCH YOU I WOULD HAVE WENT TO THE WRITERS PRODUCERS EXPLAIN IM NOT LOSING WIN OR DRAW IM NOT LOSING TO LUKE
Wow so Luke took shots at Scotty knowing what he did to his wife . What a pos. And still got his butt kicked. Also all of those grown men on that boat and none of them could stop the fight? Anyway, sorry if I was supposed to fall for Luke and Laura as this wonderful cute couple and despise Scotty because of his dirty deeds trying to break up their wedding , but no way in hell. They did him wrong. You had a guy chasing after another man’s wife and that wife getting raped supposedly and lying to her husband and we’re supposed to be mad at Scotty because he said some horrible things to her because of it - something most men would have done under those circumstances. Well that’s daytime soaps for you. But I’m team Scotty all the way here
