This sūtra on Ghaṭikāra and Jyotipāla is translated from the Sanskrit of Chapter 31 of the Mahāvastu by Shaku Shingan. It is often referenced as an example of great devotion to the Buddha, as exemplified by Ghaṭikāra. It also is an example of a person, in the form of Jyotipāla, who may at first reject the Dharma, but later comes to practise it and receive a prediction to Buddhahood.
