Nkrumah did not start the independence war, independence was started before Nkrumah was brought in by UGCC. Note, Nkrumah did not start the independence struggle, he didn't even joined the struggle by will, he was brought in to join the struggle, so how can he become the sole founder of Ghana ? So Ako- Adjei who was send to bring Nkrumah from UK to become a worker of UGCC who were already fighting for independence is what ? In UGCC it was only Nkrumah who was receiving salary from the contributions of others who were all fighting for independence. This hypocrisy and unrecognised contributions of others have become problem for Africa as a whole. It has even divide african unity, including our community developments because after others help to achieve success one person will claim the glory. Black man for you.
@@kasare3085 how ? Is JB Dankwa the only person with Nkrumah fighting for independence ? What about the others, do they also opposed to it ? Boot licker. Reason and stop following the hypocrisy in African leaders .
Yes some groups and individuals struggled for some rights and freedoms, however few fought for territorial Independence, much less NATIONAL independence. Protesting just to protest and rebel against a Colonial power without a goal (National independence) and road map is just what it is: Civil disobedience. It took Nkrumah's radical approach to gain independence and Republic status. These UGCC and Danquah clique were pacifists and divisionists, asking for self government for Akanland. Asking for "self government in the shortest possible time" meant leaving our independence to the discretion of the Colonial power. That's like asking someone who owes you money to pay you at their earliest convenience. You can imagine how long that could take, that's if they are honest to pay it back at all.
Preach on my brother Our Akyem and Asante people are too hypocrite. So do they want to tell us that *Yaa Asantewaa* single handedly fought the British? Did she fight alone, if not why are they not mentioning names of all the people that fought with her All the other Ashanti kings that won battles ,did they fight alone? If these 2 tribes do not change their way of thinking Ghana will never progress.
@@stephenamoakwa4464 ABSOLUTELY. I have been referencing Osei Tutu and the founding or establishing of the Asante Kingdom in the sense that, without Osei Tutu, the different states and groups that constitute the Asante Kingdom today would be as the other Akan ethnic groups who do not bear allegiance to the Golden Stool. This is simple logic and I'm wondering why some people do not get it. India has a founding father,Singapore ,Malaysia, Turkey and I believe some nations to. It's sad the Danquah,Busia, Dombo group are finding it difficult to accept an absolutely obvious fact. Maybe an in depth research into Modern Ghana history is the only way for them to know how this nation called Ghana was birthed.
Dr. Nkrumah is the founder of Ghana. Danquah and Busia, should spare us, because they were snitches in the struggle. Those making the noise, must show us speeches or letters, showing their contributions, towards the struggle.
He was clearly aligning with his slave masters, this man and is his generation have never been for Ghanaians, Edward Akuffo Addo didn't want Ghana freed fast forward to today his son want to recolonize us and strip us of all our resources and land, look at the hardship Ghanaians are going through right now,Nkrumah is the man in the whole of Africa and that's that. So your excellency you can go and build your father's museum in your hometown we will not let you rewrite our positive history
This matter is settled and Akufo Addo can go to hell. He was better at redeeming the father's name through good governance, but again, he has failed. Like father and like son, both bankrupted Ghana with greed!
These guys are martyrs in their own rights but not founders of anything. They died fighting for their own interests i.e. their salaries and fair conditions as world war 2 veterans. As admirable as that was, it wasn't a march for independence.
After listening to this young person, I realize there's a lack of understanding of our history. Only one individual seems to grasp the significance of Nkrumah's role. However, it's also true that before Nkrumah was involved, there were some successful Ghanaian lawyers and businessmen collaborating with the colonizers to achieve independence. The main difference is that Nkrumah wanted immediate independence, while those he worked with preferred a more gradual approach. 4o
A more cacious approach to independence because they were afraid Nkrumah's approach could lead to the British washing their hands off completely. And that could bring it own challenges.
Yes Nana Addo created it but it’s just a Memorial Day but not a holiday. Also he claims he Nana Addo rejects completely the notion that Kwame Nkrumah is the founder of Ghana
Nkrumah declear We would show to the word that if given the chance the 😊Black man is capable of handling his own affairs. My question is are we able to show that the Black can handle his own affairs.
There’s always an icon in everything. Just read about why Argentina’s World Cup win in 1986 is attributed to Maradona even though 11 players played the match.
Shame on all of you. Go to A I. AI says Ghana was founded by the collective efforts of groups and individuals not just Kwame Nkrumah. Shame on you all. Nana Addo is the most wise person in Ghana. We should instead say, kwame Nkrumah lead the process rather than say he founded. How can a whole country be founded by just one man. Nana Addo thank you so much. You are the most learned man in Ghana. Nana Addo well done. Shame on you all insulting Nana, you are the ones who should be insulted. Shame.
Akuffo Addo said Nkrumah alone is not the founder of Ghana, nana believes that all others who fought for independence should be acknowledged. Is that wrong???
Yes that is wrong. His uncle JB Danquah and the others formed the NLM, wrote several letters to England and challenged Nkrumah on independence. So how then can he say they all were founders
@Racadutiwaa42 Nana Addo in his speech acknowledged the significant role Nkrumah played. The president wants to honour all those who fought for independence, is that wrong?? We have a special day that celebrates Kwame Nkrumah. If Kwame Nkrumah was great, which I believe, the question is why was he overthrown, why was everything about him destroyed at that time.. Ghanas history has to be told again, so we the young ones who don't read can understand better.
@@asedaadepah8896 It’s good you have acknowledged that you haven’t read the history. Nkrumah was overthrown because mainly because of propaganda against him. NLM didn’t understand his vision. Danquah and the other lawyers were schoolmates with the Europeans and didn’t want to destroy the relationship with them. They were mainly fighting for reduction in prices of goods and equal wages as the British. They were also fighting for independence for their own territories (Ashanti, Akan,Northern etc) but not the entire Ghana. Nkrumah’s vision was that independence for the entire country would be best because he had lived in America. My grandfather is Busia who was part of the NLM but that doesn’t mean I can change history. They tried assasinating Nkrumah several times. When they finally succeeded they restricted people from working in the factories Nkrumah had built. This is why we are here now
