9. Gola Ghat is one of the oldest ghats of Varanasi and its been in use since late12th Century. The upper area of this Ghat had a lot of granaries and the market was called “Galla Market”. Locals used to pronounce “Galla” as “Gola” and that's how it got its name.
10. Trilochan Ghat is one of the oldest ghats of Varanasi. Kashi Kand marks it as a prominent religious site. In fact, the inscriptions from Gahadavala rule(1100CE) also mention about it. Derived from a temple(Trilochaneshvara) located on this Ghat Trilochan is a Sanskrit word meaning three-eyed Shiv.
11. Due to the Badrinarayan (Nar-Narayan) temple at the ghat, it was later named as Badrinarayan Ghat. The Bandrinarayan temple located on the banks of the Ganges in Kashi is considered a symbol of the Badrinarayan temple located in the Himalayas.
12. Gaay Ghat or Gai/Gaye Ghat is an ancient ghat located on the banks of Ganges in Varanasi. Gaay/Gai is a Hindi word which means cow. In ancient time people used to wash their cows on this ghat. Gaay Ghat has a 3ft tall sculpture of a Bull which is also why it’s called Gaay Ghat.
13. Sri Hanuman Garhi is a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, who is a prominent deity in Hindu mythology. The temple is located in the city of Ayodhya, considered one of India's holiest places, as it is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Rama, another significant deity in Hinduism. Sri Hanuman Garhi is situated on a hill, and visitors must climb 76 stairs to reach the temple.
14. Lal Ghat is one of the oldest and most peaceful ghats in Varanasi. Unlike the name(Lal = red) suggests it is painted in aqua blue colour. The ghat is actually named upon a rich merchant who built a portion of it in 1800. Later in 1812 a king from Tijara, Rajasthan built the southern portion and erected a grand residence on the upper section of it.
