This song has an interesting back story. Since Ghilli is the official remake of the Telugu film Okkadu, the producer of Ghilli wanted to use the same tune for this song from Okkadu since it was a chartbuster hit in Telugu. But Vidyasagar, the composer of Ghilli, said to the producer that he will compose an even better song and there is no need to use the Telugu tune. The producer wasn't quite convinced by him and agreed to that just for the sake of it. After sometime, after finishing the composition of this song Vidyasagar called the producer and said "This is the best Kuthu song I have ever composed and even I wouldn't be able to create another song like this in future". This whole incident was shared by Vidyasagar himself in a recent interview. He also said that he composed this entire song in 30 minutes. Just like he said this song became a sensation not only in Tamil Nadu but all over India. It's rare to find a wedding reception dance in TN without this song.
