Tobias: I will make the best most scrumptious delicious crisp covers ever Also Tobias: Actually i wont put them onto spotify or the cds and vinyls WHY TOBI WHY
I have a dream that you thanked me one day in Iran, or Spain I am the Ghost on the pedestal I am not lost, but I am the pedestal of the hum on the tare of the Ghoul I silently reap My words are not kind when you offer me dumb spite and shadows of deceit I preach love mankind I am David Gunn of King 810 I am history I am Tobias whom you wrote to praise I thank those friends Not me I am friends, so please be good to me I am aware of Hell I silently preach on my PC The Ghost slowly ponders in Hais stare The preach is not somely deceit, but his lowly hair is messed up there I am give to the mindly thief if starving is the beat I m love for the Tyler Mean, but the gift is solemnly there I am walk to the silent beach I walk with my eye on sand I am hurt if you marry me, then walk with your hand in there Love is the begotten preach, so love somebody with no glare
[Verse 1: Cardinal Copia] Well, I stepped into an avalanche It covered up my soul When I am not this hunchback that you see I sleep beneath the golden hill You, who wish to conquer pain You must learn, learn to serve me well [Verse 2: Cardinal Copia] You strike my side by accident As you go down for your gold The cripple here that you clothe and feed Is neither starved nor cold He does not ask for your company Not at the center, the center of the world [Verse 3: Cardinal Copia] When I am not on a pedestal You did not raise me there Your laws do not compel me To kneel grotesque and bare I, myself am the pedestal For this ugly hump at which you stare [Verse 4: Cardinal Copia] You who wish to conquer pain You must learn what makes me kind The crumbs of love that you offer me They're the crumbs I've left behind Your pain is no credential here It's just the shadow; shadow of my wound [Verse 5: Cardinal Copia] I have begun to long for you I, who have no greed I have begun to ask for you I, who have no need You say you've gone away from me But I can feel you, feel you when you breathe [Verse 6: Cardinal Copia] Do not dress in those rags for me I know you are not poor You don't love me quite so fiercely now When you know that you are not sure It is your turn, beloved It is your flesh that I wear
Nick Cave has done a couple of wicked covers of this song too! I think he and TF are among the few living people who can actually make a Leonard Cohen song even darker...
Afaik the most popular theory is that it's from the perspective of God or an angel. Dwelling beneath a hill, having a hunch back and guarding gold definitely smacks of the mountain king though.
this is literally my favourite song in the entire world. i fell in love with it while listening to nick cave's version. then i listened to the original and it made me fall in love with it even more. i can't even express how much this song means to me, so much that now, when i'm so much into Ghost i was afraid of playing it. i wanted to expect and get another masterpiece. and they did that song such justice. it suits Cardinal Copia on so many levels. my stomach literally hurts from emotions. Avalnache is and always will be the most underrated music masterpiece and i'm so happy that tobias also has seen the magnificence of this piece.
@@MsTeaLord ghost performing an original villain theme for disney would be a trip. Would've been on brand to have a spooky band like Ghost provide music when Walt "that's a sexy little girl, ollie" Disney was alive but now maybe not.
It's funny, I never liked this cover that much but it was interesting enough for me to go ahead and listen to other ghost stuff which I absolutely love.
This song should come first since it sounds like the perspective of god getting angry then ashes and rats comes on to show the black plague, punishment of god.

have begun to long for you I who have no greed I have begun to ask for you I who have no need You say you've gone away from me But I can feel you feel you when you breathe Do not dress in those rags for me I know you are not poor You don't love me quite so fiercely now When you know that you are not sure It is your turn, beloved It is your flesh that I wear
I like this cover, but I never understand "When I am NOT on a pedestal" instead of "When I am on a pedestal." The change both makes it seem like Forge didn't really understand the meaning of the lyrics, and ends up being contradictory to the rest of the verse. If one is NOT on a pedestal, there's no arguing whether one was raised there or not; if one is NOT on a pedestal, laws WOULD compel one to kneel, as they are above the laws, via said pedestal. If "[I myself am] the pedestal for this ugly hump at which you stare," you wouldn't have to state that you're not on the pedestal in the first place, because no one would be viewing you as though you're upon a pedestal. The song already has enough depth and complexity that without adding that single word, one could be viewing this as a conversation with God, a communication from God to man, a song from the perspective of Jesus, a song from the perspective of Satan, man struggling with his faith on his death bed, something not religious whatsoever, maybe where someone is dealing with their figurative dark side, etc. The addition of the word kind of muddies the entire verse, and I don't understand what the reason for the addition is.
Madonna che voce madonna che voce madonna che voce madonna...che voce della madonna che ha! Mi fa impazzire qui😍😍😍😍 Mannaggia Il cristianesimo perché non l’ha mai cantata dal vivo?😭😭😭
@@zavinullava I had always hoped that Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen would perform this song together one day, or collaborate on *something!* The darkness would have been overwhelmingly beautiful.
@@gabrij12 its a song. leonard cohen is a poet but he has several albums out. this is from an album called songs of love and hate. i respect ghost for doing this believe me, but they do not hold a finger to the darkness the original version brings. i promise.
Easily the worst cover, did little to add to the OG other then a deeper voice. Instrumental was a complete missed opportunity. Feels like Tobias just wanted to give the people who just wanted to hear his voice something.
