Thank you everyone for your likes and views. I'm a huge film lover and had this idea 7 years ago where I would upload the scenes I especially liked to YT to be able to access them whenever, but eventually abandoned the idea for some reason. Didn't anticipate the clip would blow up like this. I'm getting back into movies after a break and thought I'd give it another chance.

Not saying she was not worthy, I was disappointed that She was deserving of The Color Purple because the movie was great. Then she gets an Oscar for Ghostl for playing a fortune teller swindling people out of money, it’s funny, I find it funny that the stereotypical role Oscar worthy
@henryivan6858
@henryivan6858 3 года назад
Totally worthy of the Oscar for Ghost and any seconds she has in that movie acting serious she also sells it. She totally deserved an Oscar for The Color Purple, acting young and old in the same movie and doing a great job on both. But that year, it was the 8th nomination for legend Geraldine Paige for the movie The Trip to Bountiful and it was her time and she did veteran master class 1st rate acting on that movie so no matter who was nominated, that Oscar was hers, if you have seen that movie, it's also so very moving and it's on another higher level of performances. Sometimes it's a matter of release dates, had the movies been released a year apart, maybe they both would have gotten the award.

This scene is an acting masterclass. Patrick and Whoopi have the perfect buddy comedy banter, Whoopi straddles the line of tension and hilarity very gracefully, but the character actors Charlotte Zucker and Bruce Zachow are what take this over the top. She DESERVED the Oscar for Ghost based on this scene ALONE. The seance scenes had me on the floor too. Comedic acting is VERY difficult to execute for this simple reason: it has to be believable, or it's just over the top, it's overacting and it's completely unbelievable and unnatural. Whoopi has this rare ability to FULLY inhabit a character's NATURAL sense of humor, bring it out and make it seem TOTALLY believable and effortless. I agree that they snubbed her for The Color Purple (and she was BRILLIANT as Celie), BUT, NO ONE else could have played this character -- NO ONE ELSE. She's one of the BEST and MOST BELIEVABLE comedic actresses of a generation. She just IS Oda Mae. Her chemistry with Swayze was OFF THE HOOK hilarious, & her chemistry with Demi Moore was pretty effortless and believable too. She made Ghost a MUCH better movie (it's kind of dreary with the EXCEPTION of her scenes) with her performance. The Oscar was WELL DESERVED. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Besides here in "Ghost", it was also the amount they initially discovered to be in buried treasure in "City slickers 2" when Daniel Stern (Phil) keeps yelling to Billy Crystal (Mitch) "4 million dollars, Mitch!! 4 million dollsrs!!", and Mitch replies "A little louder Phil, some of the crack dealers didn't hear you".
