Anybody who believes Whoopi wasn’t a million percent worthy of that Oscar clearly hasn’t seen this film. She gives one of the funniest, most entertaining, most wonderful performances I’ve ever seen. Truly unforgettable.

The fact that Patrick refused to do this movie without her warms my heart. She was perfect for this role. One of my favorite lines is “Molly…you in danger, girl” ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was in middle school when this came out, and I watched it in the theater with my mother. I’ll never forget the laughter at these scenes, people were doubled over and screaming. The climax of it all: “FOUR MILLION DOLLARS?!” and the place roared. She earned that Oscar.

I always loved the complete shift in her body language when she says "No I'm here for my health." Then the *perfect* shift back after she's admonished. Brilliant.

Ghost was an event in my house. No blackbuster stores, no streams back then, only open tv, every single rerun wed sit down to watch it and laugh hard everytime with these two. It brings back that feeling of forgetting how life was kinda difficult back then but wed be easily entertained and not think of that at all while watching it.

She totally deserved the Oscar for this performance. She was sweet, caring & funny!! Love her in this so much.

When she asks the ghost “Why are you whispering!?”, that scene, even as a kid, made me crack up so hard. Like, she’s going through all that hassle at a bank, and still has the with to straight up ask a ghost why he’s trying to be quiet. 😂 ☠️

One of the greatest scenes in American Comedy. The lines... the timing... the body language... the chemistry among actors... several hilarious moments in just one scene... Goldberg at her best. She's brilliant. "Ghost" was the film that made me a film historian. It'll always have a special place in my heart. ❤

This scene is an acting masterclass. Patrick and Whoopi have the perfect buddy comedy banter, Whoopi straddles the line of tension and hilarity very gracefully, but the character actors Charlotte Zucker and Bruce Zachow are what take this over the top. Their reactions and timing are crucial to making this work and they're just on point. A perfect scene.

To this day, I use that same character line on anyone who allows me to borrow their pen. "Can I keep this Pen?" (in an Oda Mae way), and I pause for a moment to see if they understand what I'm doing. I always get a kick out of it, even it's just for me. : )

One of the reasons this is such a fantastic movie is that everyone is brilliant in their roles, even minor characters like Fergusson, he acts just like the shy, socially awkward individual Sam describes him as as, and that look of TERROR on his face when Oda Mae suddenly lunges at him at 6:56 is the cherry on top

Absolutely superb acting from the late brilliantly talented Patrick Swayzee and the equally talented and totally hilarious Whoopi Goldberg. This film is one of my all time favourites. They don’t make films like they used to.

Think about how hard it was to keep a straight face for the two actors portraying the bank staff. That deserves an award too 😂 😂

She DESERVED the Oscar for Ghost based on this scene ALONE. The seance scenes had me on the floor too. Comedic acting is VERY difficult to execute for this simple reason: it has to be believable, or it's just over the top, it's overacting and it's completely unbelievable and unnatural. Whoopi has this rare ability to FULLY inhabit a character's NATURAL sense of humor, bring it out and make it seem TOTALLY believable and effortless. I agree that they snubbed her for The Color Purple (and she was BRILLIANT as Celie), BUT, NO ONE else could have played this character -- NO ONE ELSE. She's one of the BEST and MOST BELIEVABLE comedic actresses of a generation. She just IS Oda Mae. Her chemistry with Swayze was OFF THE HOOK hilarious, & her chemistry with Demi Moore was pretty effortless and believable too. She made Ghost a MUCH better movie (it's kind of dreary with the EXCEPTION of her scenes) with her performance. The Oscar was WELL DESERVED. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

FYI: The woman that plays the bank representative is the director's mother. She is in almost every Zucker movie ever made. Remember the lady in _Airplane!_ that was constantly trying to put her lipstick on? That was her too.
