Alejandro Moreno it took about a month in 2015 for me. Never heard of them and then I listened to all they had, and all they were coming out with, and I was hooked. Not easy for a band to do that with me.
I have stage fright but if I'm onstage and wearing a mask that could literally change anything. I'm pretty sure I'll be as energy and enthusiastic as those ghouls there. That's a good thing.
Probably the most subtle, yet powerful thing that you see, it's the fact that when Tobias enters the stage, all the ghouls retreat to give the frontman the stage. Like a BOSS
Tobias can be the "director" of Ghost all he wants, but Ghost would be nothing without the Ghouls. Commissioned band members or not, that performance of Miasma is fucking insanely perfect and their enthusiasm whilst playing is clearly there. Love love love this footage!!!!
I have a feeling that Tobias feels similarly. If he had wanted to be the *actual* center of attention in regards to the bands quality he wouldn't have hidden behind so many different masks. He wanted the music and the musicians to speak for themselves. I haven't been able to see them live but in all of the performances I've seen on RU-vid he always shows deference to the Ghouls when they have times to shine.
The Ghouls are fantastic musicians, but they are in fact hired guns. Tobias is the vision of the band and writes the melodies/riffs, not to mention handles vocal duties. If we're giving credit where it's due, 50% at least goes towards Tobias, and roughly 50% towards the rotating cast of Ghouls who carry out the vision amazingly well.
Tobias Forge was the guitarist of a similar secret band. One man’s vision, one man’s songs, one man recording all instruments, but with live members, of which Tobias was one.
Its not even a week since i started my GHOST journey & now i watched every single live performance from them & i feel like i knew them for a decade definitely they are enchanted:)
Dude if they're here to hear heaviness. This might not be the song for that. However, if they are looking for talented musicians on every end of the spectrum. Well then, they've come to the right RU-vid music video "EVER" for that.
Ghost is not originally created to be "heavy" though. I literally could hear in their songs that they're trying to imitate "worship song" sounds but giving them vibe and lyrics opposite to what you hear in churches. So they're like a satire to "holy/christian" music. IMO.
To me it is really nice bit of spice on a near perfect dish. To call it the highlight sort of devalues the rest of the piece, which is pretty great already. The synth and guitar work is top notch.
I agree, I'm a huge metal guy who likes heavy stuffs but Ghost is something special and I love them for that and when I heard Miasma especially the Sax solo it automatically became my fav track on the whole album.
jonybeam www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/tobias_forge_at_some_point_or_another_ive_played_all_instruments_in_ghost.html This is what I was thinking of. Idk why I thought he didn’t play drums. Lol
@jonybeam It's not always him, because on one of the performances the Cardinal is on stage already before Papa leaves, so one of them couldn't have been Tobias.
@jonybeam See this:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yUJnJtITwwM.html&ab_channel=sunega88. You will see that for several seconds at the end, Cardinal and Papa are both on stage.
As a former theatre stage manager I have to say this show is tight I can see when a cue is missed and recovered. Totally impressed with the entertainment level I saw with this band on Dec 08, 2018 in the Sony Centre in Toronto, Ontario Canada. There are two lines that make my heart quiver. "I can hear the thunder that's breaking in your heart...I can see the scars inside you have such incredible meaning to me." The costumes are fabulous! Costume changes impressive. Totally moving band! Totally moving concept!
Man, you can just see the enthusiasm and pure energy he/she puts into every strike can't you? Gives me more then goosebumps my friend. Make me wanna touch myself LOL 😆...
Dude I fucking love me some Miasma. Such a great instrumental. That keyboard part before Saxy Papa comes in just gives me shivers every fucking time. Really an incredible song. These Ghouls know how to rock.
Nathan N2 I am sure that they would be accepted as one of “the boys” and frankly, I can’t see that as an insult. The ghoulettes certainly kick ass in their own right
Miasma is easily one of my favourite songs to come out of 2018, and the metal scene in general. Sax solo and all. Pissed I didn’t catch these guys on this tour, hopefully it stays on the setlist for future tours.
I leaned to play Sax way back in 5th grade. Stuck with it through college in marching band and jazz bands. Stopped when I graduated and had to enter the real world for work. But watching Papa shred makes me wanna pick it up again. 🤘🏽
I can’t stop watching this. I literally just discovered this band 1st jan 2019 and this song is in my blood and bones now , it’s beautiful, melodic, heavy, stompy, technical, and the band play and sing with such conviction and theatre is watch a metal opera of this stuff
Thanks for posting...made my night! The Goulette at the start of 1:48 adds a lot to the show with her enthusiasm. Would love to know she is...By the way...This video is probably one of the best videos of any Ghost concert. Great Job!!!
Love to see how their stage show has progressed from their first performances at download festival to this, they have truly mastered their art. Also love the fact that decided to bring previous papa back for the jazz Saxophone solo.
One of the few modern Rock / Metal bands that have 2x keyboardists, then I still ask the question how other bands say that they don't need keyboardists, more accurately, synths in thier music... What a shame... Miasma is a work of art!!!!
Right. I think it has to be Sean Penn for sure ;-b. Finally he gave up his Life in Hollywood and went on a straight Diet for blasting out Vocals in Ghost. Awesome Shit :-).
I'll be there too! Saw them in Milwaukee for the first time this year for the ill fated show that was cut short. What we did see was incredible. Can't wait to see the whole thing this time!
Ali Mert Turaçlar Yeah, but I think that at the time of Pope Emerithus III the Ghouls were more energetic. They played tricks all the time. But I still love them.
Omega invented the stomp tilting his head back and so many other classy moves and played real Gibson RDs the others will always be nothing more than imposters!
