Thanks for watching and wouldn’t dream of spoiling any part of this masterpiece. I hope you enjoy your first playthrough and that it’s every bit as magical as mine. This video was made with the intention of helping make people’s first run even better than mine.
@@jusafuto i got all the spoilers trying to find out if this game (like other suckerpunch games) had a karma like system other then the "legend of the ghost" it's realy disappointing that suckerpunch didn't do that
The BIGGEST and most INVALUABLE thing every new player needs to grab is the Charm of Inari as soon as you can, right at the beginning of Act 1. It will effectively double your supplies and other bits for as long as you keep it on. I'd honestly recommend never taking it off your first playthrough, you'll be able to upgrade nearly double the things you usually would be able to. x2 to the predator hides is also really nice because my first time playing on the PS4, I had nowhere near enough hides to max out my capacity upgrades; even after beating the entire game. That changes with this charm. I'd also recommend the Charm of Mizu-no-Kami as the bigger perfect parry windows are honestly way more impactful than any of the other major charm effects at this point. After "getting good", I've since replaced it with Nekoma's Hunt, which you get from Iki's cat sanctuaries. Being able to chain assassinate 4 enemies is wild. Chain assassinate, smoke bomb, chain assassinate again, and you've already killed 8 enemies. Honestly, the stance upgrades are super unnecessary and I'd recommend maxing chain assassinations first, then getting concentration/focused hearing upgrades, then maxxing out the samurai/evasion trees. The stagger and misc. upgrades you get from upgrading stances are niche and really unimportant. I usually get to act 2 and only after Iki do I actually start putting points into these, after everything else. Also it really does not take that long to unlock all your stances, if you're clearing all the camps you come across you should have it easily way before completing act 1.
I would argue that maxing wind stance is an excellent investment. Having your attacks auto parry spears and typhoon kick yeeting enemies to kingdom come is very useful
Got this game on pc. Looks great with my ultrawide monitor and ultra settings. I barely played it on my ps4 years ago. Already playing now on the second part of the map.
I played the game upon release back in 2020 and finished it, but I never got to play the director's cut with the Iki Island expansion. Now im replaying the whole game on my steam deck, and just as i finished Act 1, I saw your video. Thank goodness that I did, because if not, I would've finished the entire main story before ever stepping foot in Iki Island. Now, early in Act 2, I went straight into Iki Island, and WOW!! the mongols are more ferocious, aggressive, and smarter than the ones on Tsushima. They be switching up weapons from shield to spear to sword and back to shield again, keeping me on my toes and engaged. I feel like when I return to Tsushima, im gonna be bad ass samurai like Hitokiri Battōsai, Himura Kenshin... and that's even without the Sarugami armor.
For Anyone wondering how much silk you need to farm to upgrade every armor including the one in New game plus it's a total of 90 silk if you don't care about the new game plus armor set its 84 silk
Thanks bro! Yeah I rewatched it and didn’t like how much I rambled in that first one. Plus I already wasn’t happy with the exposure which I couldn’t fix or figure out how to fix cause it was only affecting the exported file. It looked great before exporting.
I am only playing campaign for my first go around, unlocked everything on the main start island and now i am going through act 2 and was going back and fourth about this. great video
I never had problems with silk, since I always engaged the charm of Inari as early as possible so I could upgrade everything faster. I ended up with all the silk I ever needed to fully upgrade all the armor.
Another useful tip for new players is make sure to liberate Azamo Bay during Act 1 as there are 4 commanders to kill there which will help in progressing jin's stances. Also make sure to observe the commanders during their training animations before killing them. This gives you two progression bars instead of 1.
Great advice! I'm working on another tips video and while I hadn't thought about Azamo Bay, watching then killing leaders for double points is one of the tips I had.
@@jusafuto Awesome! Definitely gonna watch that video when you post. Honestly I'm geeking out about a 2nd GoT in the mainland with Jin being a shinobi/ghost training his own army!
Its almost scary, I just was about to enter Iki when i had quit and do some other stuff. And this video came in my feed when i was about to start the game again.
In the PS4 Director's Cut, before completing Act 1, I swam along the eastern cliffs to get to the area where Act 2 takes place. I opened some fast travel points and then did Iki Island. The new digital PS5 Director's Cut won't let you do this, it makes sure you drown and die. 😢☠ Overall the PS5 graphics are a huge step up from PS4.
How does the Sarugami armor "Sur convent the different stances"? I have the armor but I still feel the need to use right stance to be efficient?! Regarding the Silk Farm, I did that mission well before ever learning about this farm method, so that is not available for me any longer. Is there another spot like that for Silk? Silk seems to be the most valuable currency late game.
it's because it makes it easier to perfect parry and perfect dodge, which makes it so that the stances don't matter since every attack can be either perfect parried or perfect dodged
thank you for the tips. Im at act 2 area now and just unlock gosaku armor. So based of your guide. I can head straight to DLC land without worrying about any issues with the main story?
Yes you can go to Iki and do DLC as soon as you start Act 2 without worrying about the main story as the events of the DLC don’t affect main story. I made this precisely because most people won’t go to Iki right away for fear they might mess up the story and they will be missing out on the items they can get there, which everyone should have as early as possible.
I hope there will be more Samurai themed games in the future. I dont think Ubisoft can afford making one. Although some features of this game reminds me of Assassins Creed.
Any "open world" game for me is worth of explore more than simply the main quest: I just finished the firts playthorugh on PC and... well... I was the definition of the classic "the MC is maxed out just by doing the side quests" (for each act on its own). I "had to" remove the "fog of war" for the entirety of the map, checking every village, settlement, refugee camp etc etc, and looting everything. Yup: not a "speed run approach", but the beauty hidden all around Tsushima is worrth to wandering around (and those pesky mongol patrol are a nice technique points farm) About the Iki island dlc: I found that the best moment to start it is... [*Spoiler Free*] once Jin got "home" on act 2 (... not saying anything else...) just because... well... something there is well themed to something else found on Iki.
Hmmmm priotizing stone Stance? It is best focusing getting Wind Stance with the Auto Parry technique when attacking in Wind stance (WITHOUT Sarugami Armor)
If you finish all of the tales, you will have enough silk to fully upgrade all armor sets and even have some leftover. You don’t get enough silk in New Game+.
thanks for letting me know! I haven't had to upgrade anything since the game first came out and like I said, I was aware the patch fixed it some but no way of knowing other than what I've heard from others. I think the farm is still useful regardless.
You should post more videos like this, i used to watch your remnant 2 videos and now i randomly came across your videos again when i started playing ghost of Tsushima on PC. Had to subscribe!
@@goldsimi4 aw man that’s awesome! Thank you! I really appreciate that. I never ask people to subscribe which is why it means a lot when people do. I’m happy with people watching and maybe finding out something useful they didn’t know. That’s funny you mention Remnant cause I am working on a build video for that game. Yeah I get busy and sometimes editing these takes me longer than it should but I want to make and upload them more consistently.
yep, spoiler af if you continue to iki island at act 2, you cant fast travel outside of the island unless you finish the quest called jin from yarikawa, which is like 2nd or 3rd main quest you'll need to finish, there will be more flash backs as you travel around iki island, so if you want spoiler free, then i suggest you finish the base game first.
I recommend going to Iki as soon as possible because of the items I recommend. There’s a reason the devs gave access to it at the start of act 2. I don’t think it’s spoilers at that point as much as it is you playing the game and learning the story. There are no flashbacks for the ending. The flashbacks concern your father which you’re introduced to in act 2 anyway.
I couldn’t remember because I upgraded them all back when the game came out but someone commented it’s 90 pieces and I pinned it trusting they were right.
@@jusafuto the last ac I was playing was Valhalla. Same repetitive missions, boring storyline.. ppl say the new one is gonna be a good one. idk man let's see.
I only go to Iki for the gear. I really don't like the combat. Their increase in health and guard is nice, but the shamans don't fit the game at all and the enemies that are constantly changing weapons do so much too quickly, which just takes away from the flow of combat.
can you do a non spoiler free version? i’ve already played through and beat the story on ps4 and the ps5 won’t let me continue my save (i beat full game plus iki island road to 100%) so now i have to reatart
Yes you can. Up to you if you want to just grab some gear and go back to the main Island or stay until you’re fully done on Iki. You won’t be able to travel back to Tsushima until you complete 4 or 5 main missions on Iki though. After that you can fast travel back and forth as you please.
It’s more for the fact that it completes the experience and it’s a very cool quest. I feel that without the mythic tale the ability doesn’t get the importance it deserves. It’s all about the journey.
i read some comments on reddit and they said the iki island dlc quest should be done after the main story as it has spoilers for the ending. Is that true?
It's not true. I put NO SPOILERS on the title. There are no spoilers on Iki Island. There's a reason the devs put the access at the beginning of act 2. If there were endgame spoilers on the DLC they would have put the access after beating the game like the Horizon Forbidden West DLC.
@rahuldas8393 first time playing the game. Just finished chpater 1. I'm gonna need a little more convincing to do iki first. Reddit is pretty adamant things that happen in iki kinda spoil the main story a bit by alluding to certain things that happen. Maybe iki first on a second playthrough is an easier choice?
@@Ezee682 I followed the advise in the video and finished the game. I will say that iki island does hint things about the story in a way but if you go into it without knowing them then it will probably not spoil anything about the main story. This was what happened to me. Doing iki early did not spoil anything but only gave me access to a lot of gear options early which was fun. Only thing which was a slight problem for me was that after coming from ch 1 it felt a little too difficult but with some time I got good with game mechanics and that was no longer an issue. I think if you still think that it might spoil you then its fine to delay it and tackle it a bit later when you feel comfortable. At the end of the day you should just play your way because all ways are valid in this case.
I watched that video when i was at act 2 and decided to do dlc after story goes to act 3 because some said it kinda spoils the ending. Now i'm at act 3 and started to do DLC. I would say it has some problems storywise if you are not starting at act 2. Spoilers next ----- SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS STOP READING STOP STOP STOP ---- I mean horse line from beginning of DLC, it doesn't work with random horse i have in act 3, that would have much more weight with your own horse and more weight to the moment you lose him after DLC
That’s a really good point. Idk what people mean when they say the DLC has ending spoilers. If anything it gives more context for the main story line. SPOILERS AHEAD: Like getting to Jin’s home and reclaiming the Sakai armor feels more meaningful after you’ve been to Iki cause you actually see what their relationship was like and what it means to him. Makes returning home have a more powerful impact and emotional payoff. Then the horse as you pointed out. That moment is already hard but having spent more time with him makes it more meaningful. Lastly, why would the devs put the access to the DLC at the start of act 2 if it was gonna spoil the ending?
I think I'm going to have to restart my playthrough and get the techniques in the order you suggest. Looks like an interesting path, instead of my "get chain assassination asap" as if i am playing AC. I have a pc so i just bought the game a few days ago.
Don't worry about it paly howerer you like. You get alot of skill point anyway to level everything if you explore i alsmot got all combat skill i'm only started act 2
I made this video to help optimize early game progression and I think it’s worth staying as close to this path as possible but you can also use it as a reference point if you don’t want to start over. I say if you’re considering starting over then you probably should.
for anyone curious, 9:25 - silk farm is not available on PC, that spot is a couple of NPCs, one will speak to you about haiku, but no silk loot to get all armors, you will need 90 total silk, but supposedly the devs made it so you can get this amount by just completing the base game. I completed 100% on PS4 previously, so let's see what happens.
I need to confirm with someone who’ll let me see it but you’re the second person to say that. The only reason I want to be see for myself is that there’s another campsite close by that looks very similar.
@jusafuto fair enough! I didn't record or screenshot but I did check all surrounding areas in yagata forest and I didn't see any silk :( hopefully it's still around and just somewhere else, there are some weird bugs on pc I've encountered so far so maybe thats bugged out too
