once you have played red dead redemption 2 every other game feels dead. GOTs environment feels dead compared to red dead 2 where there are hundreds of animals and npcs going to work and getting stuff done.
I get that. But got was beautiful in its own way. Nothing like the details and authenticity of RDR2. Thats currently the bar that is set, but there's something that hits different when you do a haiku and ride off in this game
@@EliteXtinctGaming Yes I have played RDR2 as well, the side events do seem to feel rather natural and dynamic even though ik they're scripted but they're scripted well. However, I feel the sound design, wind physics, the sound of the breeze felt far better in GOT
Ghost of Tsushima sword and bow is by far one of the most smooth and elegant weapons I have ever seen. It felt like the sword and bow were just so smooth and worked so well together. Usually games either have you use one weapon then the others in your arsenal but using the bow on horse back while fighting enemies is so satisfying and to jump off and go straight into sword combat is amazing. The game is really smooth when switching between the two weapons. Ghost of Tsushima is definitely one of the best games I had the privilege of playing.
The Ghost of Tsushima game was released on July 17, 2020, and Rise of the Ronin on March 22, 2024. The Ghost of Tsushima was released 4 years earlier and even better in graphics and gameplay than its predecessor.
For 4 years old Ghost still looks amazing. Their animation team did a fantastic job. To parry, evade, block, swing and then execute a kill is crazy smooth.
Four years makes no difference right now in graphics and tech. RDR2 looks way better and it's even older. Visuals are more about the effort the devs are willing to put in now, not what year it is.
@@mrmunkeerdr doesn't look feel or do anything better and I used to be the biggest rdr fan just look at my pfp and username rdr is overrated and has dull and boring gameplay
@@mrmunkee RDR2 is up there with some of the most expensive games of all time to produce, published by one of the largest publishers in the world. "Effort" is a terrible word when it generally comes down to the number and quality of devs hired, and how well they are treated (or in the inverse how much crunch they are forced to do). If ghost of tsushima had a budget of $200+ million I'm sure their horses would have been more fleshed out, among a host of other improvements and additions that come with having Rockstar money. But I would hope not having rockstar crunch for their devs
I am really hoping that this is an add-on in the paid for update - otherwise, I am disappointed not to have found it, or not interested to have paid even more for it... Either way, GOT is by far the better game...
@@55Kryan I know. I'm just throwing my 2 cents in. I just started Ghost so it's just speculation on my part but upon further consideration, Sifu might be the actual best of all time. Ghost is good so far but I need to finish the game before I can definitively make these claims.
Real. Also a very good movie. You seem like someone who has also watched the Dark Crystal and Labrinth with David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly, would I be correct?
Honestly it reminded me of rdr2 because it’s the only other important horse death that I had to experience, and they both hit so hard because the player knows how much the horse has been through and that it is just an innocent creature forced into serving a human and dying because of the person’s actions
i was bored being a pc gamer and all i do is play competitive games because i cant find AAA game that i think worth the time to play. and then i just played GOT on pc and it awakened my inner gamer for a long time. i get excited before going to bed thinking to play it again the next day.
I never owned a gaming PC but I'd much rather own a gaming PC with a VR headset than a console. I get really tired of not being able to buy certain games because they aren't for my Xbox one. If you have the money for a gaming PC why buy a console? It seems pointless.
@@MakimaShihaiNoAkuma Two words for ya; lethal difficulty. Also why the heck is it repetitive? Some of the best combat mechanics I've seen in a long time Edit: thanks for the likes!
@@nooooooooooooooooooooooooo2266 Nah, I played the right game and it's repetitive. Same animations, same flow, utterly monotonous. Game has great visuals and a somewhat accurate story, but that's it. I would rather have less over saturated graphics and some decent combat. If you call Ghost of Tsushima's combat varied, then RotR will pretty much show you there's more to that.
@mhdirham2276 Allow me to disagree. FYI, I have played both games. RoTR i have completed till half and in GoT I have platinum. For additional background I have Plat in Sekiro and have completed Elden Ring, Lies of P. 1. RoTR has shit lighting. Textures are not that bad but the lighting sucks at almost all places. 2. RoTR the combat is just not exactly satisfying. Yes, it looks all good and glittery while looking at it but when it really comes to the implementation of it then its more or less the same (I have tried almost all weapon types). Enemies have crazy high forward momentum which pretty much kills the aspect of KEEPING YOUR DISTANCE. Yeah, there are some good things here and there but bad is bad enough to dull their shine. 3. RoTR has shit performance. IF I AM GETTING BELOW 60 FPS EVEN IN PERFORMANCE THEN YES U DESERVE HATE. I will however agree to following as well: 1. RoTR has well crafted world where different things, building and their placements makes sense and looks immersive if not for those shit graphics. 2. RoTR has implemented bonds and missions which allow bonds quite neetely. 3. RoTR has good storyline. (At least till the point I have played)
when you emote to bow in front of a dead animal, Jin says something like "thank you for your sacrifice" or "I'm sorry". Actually same goes for dead villagers
I don't have GoT, but I can already tell AC is going to be a very mediocre hack and slack game with some gimmicks as abilities, it's not even going to compare
@@itsFETO I too haven't played GOT but I've played all the AC games and considering the latest rpg AC games, you're right. But there's no doubt the exploration would be great in AC Shadows. AC never misses exploration and environment
One thing I love is Jin reaching his hands out to feel the high grass when he walks through it or when you're riding on your horse. And very good graphics with attention to detail, design and aesthetic will beat better graphics everytime. It doesn't apply here necessarily but it definitely shows up in comparisons like Arkham Knight to Gotham Knights
I think they're both good at what they do. Obviously Rise of The Ronin seems a little bit "dry" and I'd recognise it as a game from 2017 ~ 2020, but I think each game fulfils its purpose somehow. Ronin seems more like a kind of game to mess around with like I did with ShinobiDo back in the Ps2 and Ghost of Tsushima for a cinematic, narrative and more immersive experience. I can't say about the mechanics because I haven't played Ronin yet though.
Rise has some impressive combat. The amount of stances and clothing options are insane. Both great games. Tsushima def takes the prize though, just because of quality and story imo.
Rise of Ronin is a great game bogged down by two fairly critical flaws. One, the graphics clearly. Two, an over reliance on boss fights that afterward everyone is just cool with each other again. It has great combat depth, several different maps to explore, and a cool way to sort of “new game plus” previous chapters within a playthrough. The affinity system with nearly every story character gives it a lot of depth as well. If it weren’t for the graphics I think this game would’ve been huge.
I’ve finished both and I liked both a lot. I feel like Ronin puts its focus more on gameplay and story (bc that is really good) while Ghost of Tsushima has got the overall package: breathing graphics, amazing gameplay and a great story! I finished Ghost of Tsushima twice or 3 times (on PS4 and on PS5) and I’ll get it on PC as well when it’s on sale. The variety (gameplay-wise) you can get out of both games is insane. In both games you’ve got different stances/fighting styles which is really cool. I don’t know if there are videos on RU-vid which compare the styles in the Rise of the Ronin to actual ones, but I’m really interested. I know there are some for Ghost of Tsushima and they are accurate.
both games look great. has their own unique touch to it but i'm more of a cinematic guy, so i'm more lean towards tsushima. ronin looks a bit more towards souls-like in terms of movement and combat, not to mention how it has its similarities with sekiro. i've also seen its combat gameplay where it is very dynamic and lots of movement and probably unrealistic which isn't a bad thing, the game definitely nails the atmosphere for that type of gameplay. the same can be said for tsushima
it is not like games made by from software, it is fast, you have tons of movements and styles, you are fast etc, it looks like a Team Ninja game, fast gameplay, reaction based, overlapping mechanics kinda etc, From Software is a standard for bad design in combat please do not use it as a compliment.
Very true. Rise of The Ronin looks and moves like some low budget garbage, but gets hyped like some "AAA quality". So many zombie fans like you have a very low bar in quality games these days. Ghosts of Tsushima is a very rare example of a masterpiece. Stay angry that your game is lazy garbage. ❤
Either you forgot what PS3 graphics like, or there's a weird issue with your monitor. I haven't played ROR, but ay least its assets look highly detailed.
Glad to have both games existing, since both have strengths in what the other doesn't. Because we are not forced to choose only one, then there really is no reason to. If you can enjoy both, it has been a good few years with great Samurai games released.
From my Japanese point of view, "Ronin" is an action fantasy manga for young men with ninjas and samurai. On the other hand, "Tsushima" looks like a high-quality period drama film. Both are well accepted in the Japanese community, with "Ronin" being enjoyed as a manga game and "Tsushima" as a period movie game. There is not much conflict in the fan communities. (Deepl translation used).
Yesterday I decided to get GoT, especially since it had released on PC, to me this game blew away expectations, the story is simple but sweet, the gameplay is very satisfying, it may be a bit simple and easy but it's honestly refreshing to play a game that isn't busting my balls in every fight. The textures are somewhat low quality but it doesn't bother me, this is one of the best performing games out there, it's very well optimised, I play the game at 2k resolution and I can't tell if it's ever dropped below 144 fps. You also stop taking notice of the low texture quality because the game's lighting is incredible, it feels like I'm watching a video rather than playing a game, it looks surprisingly close to real life.
@@PeterSkaOi at least i made that pic myself xd but if you put all anime industry in one bag named "bad" then i don't really have anything else to tell you...
While it looks like RotR look better on a fidelity level, I think Tsushima has a much better visual design. The bright, saturated colors, the shininess of the grass, the way sun spills through the trees, it all just feels so magical. Another thing worth noting is that arrows are very limited in GoT, and there's a time limit on how long you can hold the bow with it being drawn, after which your aim gets shaky and you are eventually forced to let go. It adds a little touch of realism that I really appreciate
Everyone who has eyes will see that GOT is a better looking game and more detailed Rise of Ronin doesn't look bad but it has those washed out graphics from which you can never have that wow moment when you look at it. I remember having those wow monents the entire time playing Ghost of Tsushima.
I kept trying to think of /why/ I thought RoR looked "off". It's graphics aren't /bad/, but there was something to them that just felt old. I've come to the conclusion, finally, that I think it's OVERLY textured. Look at the stone detail on 3:35. Very, very busy. Much more busy that a normal large boulder exposed to the elements would be. GoT has a realistic smoothness to it. Now that I saw that, I'm seeing it in all of RoR's textures.
The difference between American/Western made games and Japanese is that Western game devs strive for detail and realism. Japan isn't so concerned with realism, so oftentimes the games feel more arcady, snappy and linear in comparison. It's interesting that a lot of Japanese people say "I wish Ghost of Tsuchima was made in Japan” but given the different approaches to game-making between the two cultures, it wouldn't be possible for Japan to make something like GoT... as we can see above. Although, to be fair, Koei and Team Ninja are more used to making series like Dynasty Warriors where small detail takes a backseat to frantic, arcade-like, high speed gameplay.
Having only played GoT on PS5, I’m amazed that it was a PS4 port. That’s incredible. Reminds me of the first time i saw the Pillar Of Autumn coming from PS1 to Xbox…. Night and day
i just realize the actor of ghost of tsushima is the "50 year old japanese man" in youtube. by the way, the ronin jerking the sword to clean stains before sheathing the sword is "symbolical" in samurai teaching. they warriors dont really have to or actually doing that fin real situations. also having the holster/sheath with the sword edge facing up like in the tsushima game is the more common in real world than the one in ronin. because when you sheath the sword back into its holster/sleeve without looking you have to make sure you wont cut yourself when you lining up the base of the sword with the holster's opening, when you 'floss" the sword on the holster opening's lip from the hand guard level all the way to the tip until it meets. you want to make sure the dull side(the back) touches with your hand and the holster tip, not the sharp edge. thats why than it will sheath back in facing UP. surprising that western developer sucker punch studio actually doing it more accurate.
That is to be expected. The studio behind RotR has a very different kind of focus than Sucker Punch. Graphics and level design have never been their forte, they are better at enemy design and combat design. When RotR was announced I immediately expected these comparisons because PS fans tend to be very, VERY, superficial with games. Graphics are 70% of a game for PS fans, the other 30% is it being an open world.
@@MGnKntkY I can attest to this. All the PS fans in my frnd group seem to care alot about graphics, fidelity, ect. Things of that nature. It's the same with RoTR. No one seems to be mentioning how much deeper the combat is over tsushima, just that Tsushima "looks better". I mean it does but cmon there's more to a game than graphics
@@sirninjaraiden So you're doubling down on PC gamers being better gamers? 😂 How pretentious of you. Thanks for the anecdote on how PS gamers only care about graphics, while you are so much more interested in the things the "really matter in a game." Goofball.
I think a lot of people forget the feeling Ghost of Tsushima opens up when you play it. Sure, the graphics are still great and it's crispy. But, man the game has the tightest controls and it's fun element is 11/10. It takes up back to a time when games where we played games for fun. Next time you play it, run into a camp, slice up the enemies, and tell me it's not about the most fun action adventure you've had in a while.
На само деле ронин не так уже и плох, просто а Цусиме очень хорошо освещение сделано, благодаря чему картинка более глубокой кажется, а в Ронине как будто яркости перекрутили, может это можно исправить через панель фильтров Nvidia?
Having these 2 games in the same sentence is insane. I can't believe people are defending Rise of Ronin, the game is so terrible, especially compared to GOT.
The art direction in both games is stunningly different. I haven't played Rise of the Ronin (ROTR) yet but based on this video I can already tell that I might struggle getting through it knowing that it's essentially the same game as Ghost with much a less vibrant backdrop. That said, both games have their advantages and disadvantages, but Ghost seems to be the better overall package (though having a glider in Ghost would be awesome). One detail I didn't care for in ROTR is that he doesn't have a quiver. He's reaching back and pulling arrows out of the ether (or out of his ass). But in Ghost, Jin is carrying a quiver and you can actually see his inventory of arrows. And yes, being able to take them back from trees or on the ground is great since they're in short supply. From the looks of it, ROTR has unlimited arrows since there's no HUD to indicate what you're carrying and/or arrows remaining.
i had never even heard of rise of the ronin but it looks decent enough. i feel like the big difference is that the colors are much more vibrant in GoT.
I'm going to be real about it: graphics aside, I've had more fun playing Rise of the Ronin than Ghost of Tsushima. At some point a lot of gossushima started to feel like I was just doing the same thing over and over again and, while that is definitely a thing in Rise of the Ronin, for some reason the gameplay loop actually kind of had me stuck on it for about two weeks straight before I broke away. I haven't actually completed either game but I am nearly finished with RoR whereas I think I'm less than halfway done with GoT and completed Iki Island. I was hooked the moment they had me attempt to murder Admiral Perry.
Bro, for real. I've been playing Ghost for the past week, and the gameplay loop of "walk up to the enemy, kill 3-5 in a stand off, and perfect parry the rest" got boring after the first hour. And the stealth mechanics are just easy mode. There's a reason Lord Shimura doesn't like dishonorable combat. It's too fuckin easy.
@@dominiclaw9232 and u wanna compare a game with dozen of elements to a game that is only slightly better in outfits ? I guess people are also evolving backwards
Literally everyone’s “defence” for not playing the game is that it looked like a “ps3 game” even though it looks pretty good and is clearly interested in gameplay and story
Ghost of Tsushima is better than Rise of Ronin but I think in motion GOT look more realistic while RoR look like anime physics that why I give the Ghost of Tsushima the win
@@franciscor390nah it depends on the kind of combat you like. ghost has a somewhat realistic and grounded combat, while Ronin combat is fantasy and over the top.
It's an open world game. Team ninja doesn't have a budget like got or lou. Nioh 2 looks graphically better than ror. But being an open world game. budgets get cut in different areas of the game. Nioh 2 looks better and is small open worlds. Ror looks not as good but is open world with tons more quests and more styles to different weapons.
@@jfd4706 rise of the ronin looks like a PS3 game the horse riding isn't realistic the combat might be good idk but it charge more than GOT so I think it's not even close to Tsushima
I think the difference is in the artistic decisions made by the devs. Ghost of Tsuhima is colorful and more saturated while Ronin might be more realistic but muted... I prefer the "hot" and saturated colors of Ghost.
Team Ninja really really need an engine update, its clearly stretched very thin in an open world setting hence the majority of their titles being small levels and a level select.
I haven't played another game that has the smooth, natural control feel that Ghost of Tsushima has. When I start a new game, I normally have to adjust to the quirks and weird movements of the character. That game just felt right from the beginning.
Ghost of Tsushima’s story, gameplay environment and soundtrack fit together so well, guys I get that RDR2 was amazing I know iv played it too but for some reason ghost is Tsushima had me staring at the sunset for ages and immersing myself in the gameplay not to mention the styles and charms making your play style unique and the difficulty settings and visual settings were so customizable along with the armor sets GOT is still in my opinion one of the best games iv ever played
the most important thing in games, is fun and enjoyment. Personally, I enjoy when I do the details easily and in multiple ways, rather than being realistic, heavy, and boring, and the focus is on the story phase, how to fight, and the creative and new additions.
It's not just the character design, the story line, voiceovers, and so on... As simple as the motion (humans, grass, horses, etc) and the camera angle in Ghost of Tsushima what makes GOT better..!! And yes, I compared with Rise of the Ronin, NOT any other games.
I don't play many games with horses so idk if this is in any other game but the one thing I really love about GOT was whenever you summoned your horse he'd always show up from off camera. It felt so magical and convenient (BOTW you just wait for his dumbass to trot across the planet on the minimap).
Hey don't get me wrong, i love how the combat system evolved in rise of the ronin, and that they ended up getting to a different concept on what art it reffers, but at the same time, something feels off, the way you move less dynamic than the OG one and i'm not referring to the lack of fps but the animations. the water and even the grass, was not that realistic at all but it had his own thing that makes you want to portray every single frame, on this one feels more like a well made indie game.
Bought and played both. GoT is by far superior. Although I liked the gliding capabilities on Ronin. Wish Ghost would’ve had that option too. Especially coming down from Shrines. But that’s about the only thing I like more from Ronin. The blade spark timing was so hard to manage. Versus the Perfect parry on Ghost. I feel like Jin would kick “no name” “Blade Twin”’s ass in a duel! Haha.
Sucker punch is allergic to making decent swimming gameplay/mechanics. Like they easily could if they tried especially for infamous, just give the character a water based power
