Did not know what to thing about this band Ghost. Being 55 years old and growing up with Motörhead , Maiden, Sabath , Judas Priest I set my mind to old heavy metal . Then mid and late 80s trash metal came full force . Being "born' metal head I embrace it and love it right away. Like any style of metal. Have to admit that this band is something else . You love it or hate it. I choose to love it . It touches souls. Lost souls, abandoned souls, hoping for better souls . Cheers to all Ghost fans

"Was quite a scene, wasn’t it?" The agressive bitterness in his voice! As if it scratches the surface from deep within. Like when hate is held back by sadness. What a meticulously crafted song! LOVE IT

This song spoke to me in a time when I couldn't hear what my heart was trying to tell me. This song took a whole different meaning entirely, to me it helped me come to terms with my failing marriage. It helped me accept and move on. This whole album came at a time in my life when I absolutely needed it. But man was this song a little louder to my heart than the rest.

Kudos for the people who saw the brilliance of this album on their first listen. I hated it at first, but after my second time I fell in love with it. They say that albums that grow on you are the best, and here I am to confirm. A gorgeous masterpiece, absolutely wounderful. This album has been on loop for me for the past three days and it will be for weeks to come. Thank you Tobias for yet another banger of an album.

This has come to be one of my favorite ghost songs. The music, the lyrics and theme, everything's too good.

The way the closing guitar melody bookends with the opening Imperium track is so satisfying...

2:06 that guitar solo with keyboards and drums put together makes an unbelievable piece of music. During listening of this part i ascended to heaven.

A really emotional and great closing for this perfect album.

The sound design makes this whole song feel like a spiritual journey, as the soul departs the body. The intro guitars invoke a feeling of confusion, like someone just died and his spirit haven't realized it yet. The first verse describes how he was murdered, and how absurd it is that no one foresaw the murderer's intents but now it's too late. "Did no one hear the distant thunder?" The further lyrics sound like something like the person's life flicking before his eyes, and those stories of people who briefly died and claimed to see heaven and Jesus, etc. Finally, when after the last chorus, Impera starts playing, it's the end of the line, the moment when the soul ascends into the beyond.

Loving the 80s feel of the album

It's cool how everyone picks up on the different parts of the song which hit them personally. I really love the way he leans into and pronounces "shadow" and "softly", fully belting them with no hint of falsetto. It's the small moments.

Best song on the album. Got me for the first listen. 5:13 magic.

As a fan your worst fear is your favourite band losing its identity or producing something new thats just "not them" and then GHOST comes around with another banger album like this and especialy a genius song like this and makes you cry just by listening to the beauty of those lyrics, vocals and instrumental work. Just listened to the whole album. Been a Ghost fan since Cirice played on SiriusXM waaaaay back in the day. You guys just keep getting better and growing as a band. This one and Spillways immediately jumped out as amazing. Rest was good, will need more listens to pick out more faves! Anyone else notice with the album being about rise and fall of empires and history seems to repeat, the music itself does that and it essentially ends how it starts, tobias is a musical genius.

I was 6 hrs ahead of my friend in the west, so I had the chance to hear the rest of the songs early, this being the first. I felt such tranquility, and while I was too sleepy at the time, I highly appreciate this song

I just discovered this one. I'm in the process of school of ghost. I've heard rats, little sunshine, dance macabre. And became unknowingly obsessed with them. I started my journey a few weeks ago. I'm so disappointed that I didn't realize how much I was missing!! But I'm so excited by my foray into the experience, which is" Ghost" !!!!! 😊.

I pick up my vinyl in the morning. I’ll do a front to back deep dive tomorrow. But had to hear this now. Love it.

I hold my hands up, iv seen images of ghost over the last few years and thought mmmmmm they look like Marilyn manson fronting slipknot - not for me. But saw them on Kimmels show the other night doing little sunshine and thought mmmmmmm NICE, And then this and some other songs off Impera popped up on my youtube feeds and..... OMG Ghost are absolutely amazing. For a child of the 80s (54 and counting, yep, old man) listening to Ghost is like your best Sam Fox wet dream come to life. Started off im thinking is this Leppard, then half way through its Whitesnake and come the end I didnt really care who it sounds like cuz its absolutely brilliant. Just ordered the album and cant wait to delve into the Ghost discography. Brilliant, just brilliant

The intro of this sounds like a slowed down version of Poison by Alice Cooper. What an ending to an amazing album, felt like a trip through the 80s but still so very fresh and very Ghost.
