Always loved the Marvel comics from the 90s. Ghost Rider is just the cherry on top. Been looking toward to this omnibus all year and I can’t wait to get my heads on it. Thank you so much for another deep dive review.
Man, I really wish they had included that painted poster, well all of the posters and the glow in the dark trading cards, those are awesome. Can't wait for this.
I really like hearing that passion in Omar's voice when he talks about some of these books, and I can see why Marvel pays him top dollar for presenting this stuff! 🤟
@@Krypton_Ken exactly, it’s a simple fair deal between him and Daniel. He gets all the new marvel omnis weeks before release and for free, so he can review them. That’s a awesome deal
Standard edition all the way. God mapping past this one is gonna be rough. All the midnight sons stuff should really just go in its own omni imo as major story beats happen in the other comics so you cant cut around em. Just happy gr is getting properly collected though as past the first 25 collecting this era is rough.
Been waiting for this omni to get released for so long! Can't wait to read it again. It's kind of sad that anyone who wasn't collecting comics in the 90s won't truly understand how hot (no pun intended) Ghost Rider was during this era. This was so much fun. I hope, if we get a v2, that they map the Spirits of Vengeance spin off series into it instead of as a separate volume.
Ghost Rider is one of the characters that got me into comics and it doesn't get any more '90s than this omni right here! The stories were utter nonsense, even as a kid, but the art is some of the very best of the decade. Day one purchase for me and I hope Volume 2 is in the works!
I couldn’t go past that in-your-face close up cover image! Love the build on this book, can’t wait to put it on the shelf. That original Johnny Blaze omni can’t be too far away. Thanks Omar!
My God, I cannot wait for this book! I've been a recent addition into the Ghost Rider cult and there's no going back, Omar do you think we will see the midnight suns and Johnny Blaze in omni format anytime soon?
Ghost rider is my favorite comic book character of all time. Starting to get into comics since Marvel is taking their time to actually do anything with him, so I'm gonna start finding stuff to collect. You made this video at the perfect time. Thank you!!
Omar is like my comics spirit animal--Ghost Rider #9 was my first issue in the series as well...and I was upset we didn't see a fight with Archangel as well.
Nice overview. I plan on grabbing this one. I remember how big this book was and always remember that issue #1 cover. Have they ever done or plan on doing a Marvel Comics Presents omnibus collection?
Impatiently waiting for the pre-order to ship. We used to get these stories printed sometimes in Sweden in the 90s in a thick bi-monthly called Mega Marvel. 132 pages of mindmelting greatness for a 9-10 year old. They rotated character focus during the year but those Danny Ketch stories were always solid favorites and well worth the months of waiting.
They put out all these epic collections in random janky orders to avoid cannibalization in their own market. And then they put out the Danny Ketch epic and omni at the same time.
Well the Danny Epic came out a year ago. But I think they've decided not to give any fucks regarding double dips or duplicate releases in different formats any more. Lots of Daredevil, FF, and Iron Man Epics came out pretty close to the Silver Age Omnis they've reprinted/published lately. Same with Spider Man Epics vs Micheline&Bagley, and some Dr Strange.
I'll definitely be getting this, but it won't be for a while. I missed out on these issues when I was a kid because I started reading from the Midnight Sons storyline onward. In fact, I am excited that Volume 2 will end up having Midnight Sons collected so I can finally get rid of my original comics to it. I might keep the poster pieces though. I also hope they do a Blaze omnibus.
Childhood memories from when I could not even afford these Id borrow 2 issues from a friend and then my aunt bought me 1 issue. We didnt even get the regular issues in South Africa in the 90s!
I recall this title plus the other Midnight sons really being unpopular in the 90's. I recall these were always on the shelf and the dollar bins. Not sure whether it is nostalgia as I thought no one read this.
My goodness....as you're listing all that talent associated with that one book, it makes me wonder where all that talent is today? I mean, it's not even a fair comparison. Those years were my prime years as a kid reading and collecting comics and I was spoiled by the wealth of talent.
I went for the skull cover. Read some of the issues but not many as my gr was blaze. If this goes well I hope we get a Johnny blaze gr omni, since the ,asyerwprks are already done
@jupitxr23 I don't need to. From what I saw, a good portion was unumbered, if not the entire book was unnumbered. That makes the table of contents next to impossible to use for finding content based on page number.
Don’t think you have to worry about sales. I just tried to pre order it in cheap graphic novels and both covers aren’t available right now; also the product info is missing on in stock trades which suggest they may be having trouble getting it in.
unrelated to this omni, but how do you request omnis? i know there’s only so much you can do as a team, but isn’t there usually a “most wanted poll” thingy? i’m fairly new here so just navigating hahaha thank you!
There’s an annual “most wanted” poll usually towards the beginning of the year. Ultimately of course, Marvel and Marvel alone decides what they’re publishing but they do listen and take into consideration what we say and ranking high on the poll makes it very likely it will eventually get printed even if it sometimes takes a while
To people who can't stop crying about modern comics being trash; there's amazing stuff from the past being reintroduced to new audiences thanks to OMAR!
