Check out the Hagstrom Fantomen Now at AMS! bit.ly/GHOSTYT We had the chance to do a Rig Exploration with the guitar techs from the metal band Ghost! Find Your New Gear at AmericanMusical.com
I wish we could get an update for this tour. Aether's rig (black guitar) has undergone some definite changes. Either the pickup covers were removed or the pickups were totally swapped out, the bridge and stop hardware are now black instead of chrome show here, and the knobs on the pots are now black retro Fender 'witch hat' style, although I have no idea if any actual wiring was changed, and obviously Sodo (white guitar) is now playing a completely different rig (Fender Strat w/Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge & neck). It also looks like there's another bass in the lineup, I saw one picture where it looked like he was playing a black Jaguar instead of the normal Fender Jazz bass (in black or white, depending on the song)
Apparently Hagstrom are releasing an upgraded Fantomen, they're basically calling it Fantomen Custom so it could be the same specs as this current guitar.
I bought one and its a crazy feeling to play it. When you hit that E string in DGCFAB tuning you will go nuts. Dont worry about the custom, the ghouls only use them because they have more wood because they are playing live all the time. They want gear that will resonate right and dont go out of tune
Dude, that was like hearing Chinese - although I'm a guitar player using both real amps and Neural DSP plugins, I like to keep things simple.... hey that's why they need guitar techs
Wish they went into some more detail on Swiss's Viking. I'm running the stock one currently and wanted to see if they did any upgrades to it. Otherwise, awesome video!
We know all artists are using axfx or kempers, would be nice to know what amp models they are using or if the are using any of the other effects in the unit besides the amp sims
Well, live they're using the Fractal Axe-Fx III. Not sure if they use amps in the studio or just the modeler. In the old days when they used amps, they were running with Orange for guitar and bass.
@@guitechnickal How does the playback system work? Is it auto set to change settings based on a click track or do you still have to change presets and effects? Thank you
Probably just for touring. Don't have to worry about renting or using insufficient gear. I'm sure Tobias records with real amps in the studio. In the past when I saw them they had real amps but they weren't at the magnitude of fame that they are now. Then again, I know nothing, I'm just a fan haha
@@fancykarlmarx AxeFX (and other modellers) are just the standard now. It makes so much sense - financially and logistically. Amps and cabinets are unreliable, cost a lot to ship, and provide less flexibility when it comes to sound design (in ear systems, front of house, etc) Its just the same tone, night after night.
@@DavidMacVicar I get the logistical problems it solves and it is so much easier but I’m just an amp dork and I like what I like. Plus amp stacks look cool!
@@DavidMacVicar Do you happen to know what amps and effect pedals they model with that AxeFX? Also, I have a digital Zoom G3, is it any good to your knowledge, or compared to AxeFX?
