Order at: www.indiemerch.com/metalblader... Ghost's "Ritual" from their debut album, "Opus Eponymous", available in North America via Metal Blade Records. Order at www.metalblade.com/ghost
This was, in all seriousness, my first wedding dance. Yes, we frolicked around the garden in dress and suit, surrounded by family members (who don’t know English) and friends (who do). We danced and sang about “procreating the unholy bastard”. Very good memory 😄 it was two years ago, the unholy bastard is starting to crawl and speak in tongues now!
Violet Ortensia Me too. Literally one of the best solos I've ever heard. Not technically because it's very easy to play but there's just something about it.
I agree. There's something about that mellow 70's-80's tone that blends into a Satanic prayer then goes back to being jolly after the solo that makes this song special.
LYRICS: Tonight, we're summoned For a divine cause Remembrance, no But for their future loss Chorus: In this chapel of ritual Smells of dead Human sacrifices from the altar- Verse 2: Beduins and Nomads Carried through the times Through pestilences and famines These ancient scrolls of rhymes Our fallen angel vexed Was banished from the sky Recite now, from the text And pray for all to die Chorus: In this chapel of ritual Smells of dead Human sacrifices from the altar bed On this night of ritual Invoking our master To procreate the unholy bastard Bridge: Our father, who art in Hell Unhallowed, be thy name Cursed be the sons and daughters Of thine nemesis who are to blame Thy kingdom come, Nema! Verse 3: Tonight, we summoned For his unholy fiend Now celebrate The end Chorus: In this chapel of ritual Smells of dead Human sacrifices from the altar bed On this night of ritual Invoking our master To procreate the unholy bastard
I saw them in stockholm sweden when they played, people reacted the same way (Ive been a fan of them since the start of 2011) but at the end of their small section, everyone were speechless and applaused as hell. great band, Got the chance to go backstage to meet In Flames and it was great, But i were completely speechless and kind of exalted with myself when Papa Emeritus walked up to me and asked if i believed in Satan.. Most epic moment in my life
Hey guys, sorry I'm like almost a decade late to this party... I've had a lot of bands melt my face. This is the first band that melted my soul! Incredible, incredible instrumental proficiency and unique, dread lyrics.
I feel you. I just became a fan last year. I had heard their music before on the radio, and didn't think much of it. and I heard year zero and It really spoke to me and from then on out I have become obsessed!
Started listening to them 2 years ago. Ritual is the song that hooked me. I love their entire catalogue From Opus to Rats, being 50, this gives me faith their is still some talented musicians out there who can nail it.
I'm a *bit* of a young'un here, only being in my 40's, but I discovered Ghost a couple of years ago, and they are my new favourite band, at a time when I didn't think the world of music had any music left in it. Certainly didn't expect a band who I'd name in the same sentence as The Cure, Skinny Puppy, or Queen as stuff I can never get tired of listening to.
I enjoy playing this full blast in my truck with windows down as I pull up to others at red lights whom have their windows down while I'm singing along, smiling away and slowly glance over at them to see their reaction (plus I'm this 4'11" tiny girl who may not look like this is what I'd jam too lol) Especially when playing Pro Memoria... The looks I get, haha. I also have my Ghost decal in the back window, proudly for all to see. 🤘❤😊 (Keep forgetting I'm on my hubbys YT on this phone. I am Jenn, not Brian lol)
It's so cool coming into older comment sections like this, here in 2022. A lot of y'all knew back then that Ghost would take off, and they have and still are! I just became a fan weeks ago, and I haven't heard one song I've disliked ❤
I first saw Ghost in 2012 at a club in Pittsburgh that help about 800 people. The tickets cost 30 dollars and I got to hang with the whole band. We walked down two blocks to a bar for some drinks. Tobias wanted to go to a record shop but this part of town didn't have one near by. Still one of my greatest memories.
The bassist does the bulk of the damage. The lead performs the precision stab wounds and the lyrics keep you resuscitated just long enough to, in the final moment, enjoy, the end.
The bassist is Gustaf Lindström, the lead guitar is Tobias Forge, the rhythm guitar is Tobias the percussion is Ludvig Kernberg the Lyrics are Tobias, the keyboard is Tobias. Just added some ingredients there for ya.
@@TruthUnderFire Yeah man, took my 15y old daughter to Kiss last year. Was her 1st rock concert and she wasn't too enthusiastic at first but I just convinced her to go. Few months later she came to me and asked "Dad, do you know Ghost?" I bursted out laughing and told her I'd seen Ghost live in 2018 and also had played "Square Hammer" in a metal cover-band. Now she wants to go to Ghost front row with me and has made playlists for herself with Ghost, Arctic Monkeys, AC/DC, Nirvana and Metallica. I'm so happy and proud to see what one real rock concert with great visuals (Kiss) can do to such a young mind.
@@RushianRichard Oh wow. And KISS is washed up now. Gene Simmons is about as relevant as GMO corn. Scumbag at heart, too. I loved KISS, but Gene was the reason I turned away. He's a Zionist as well which makes him even more slimy. But Ghost? They're badass and they just want to put on scary shows and shock people, just as Alice Cooper did with his onstage Guillotine and moving body parts, and talking torsos. The original shock rocker. GHOST got it right! Very captivating and intriguing band. Secular Haze is what got me started. So unique. It was a fun journey going through their discography after that.
Узнала о группе года два назад, чисто случайно, увидев кадр с концерта и всё, с тех пор это одна из самых любимых. До сих пор помню ночи без сна проведённые за словарём и переводчиком в попытке узнать о чём же поют.
Just goes to show that you don't have to growl into a microphone or machine gun your instruments to be a top tier metal band. A nice change of pace; one of my new favorite bands.
Just 11 months ago? I take it that was your introduction to Ghost. However, it's nothing like Symphony of Destruction. Different chords, tone, pacing etc.
Unfortunately a lot of new fans stick to Prequelle and Impera which is a shame. Ever since Prequelle, some people have gotten to cutesy with Ghost. Like pics of Copies ass and crotch, cute baby like drawings and adorable nicknames for the Ghouls. I can't stand that shit. This isn't Babymetal.
@@Sh4dow_7802 Oh of course. I understand Tobias had to go more commercial to achieve the success that he wanted and I definitely don't dislike the album. I don't dislike any Albums. I just hold those first three albums as exceptional because of their sound not being overproduced like Impera (which I still love), being darker and all three albums being one continued story. I will say there's a mastering problem with Infestissumam. Wish they would have used the original version that Simon did. Hell, even Tobias preferred it but it was Universal's decision. I have no doubt that Infestissumam will be remastered one day.
@@PapaEmeritus_4evr I like it that every album is something completely new soundwise. Of course I would love a darker metal album like every other oldschool ghost fan but the great unexpected feeling you have when listening to a new album that sounds so different but still has that ghost charm is awesome. I like every album, Infestissumam sounds great imo (have you listened to the new iron maiden mix and mastering 😅) Catchy Songs like Rats and of course Square Hammer are my magnum opus
@@Sh4dow_7802 Oh I agree with everything u said. Phantom of the Opera is awesome! I really like Phantomime! You mentioned Infestissumam. I love the album but what I don't like about it is the mastering. Originally Simon Söderberg (Alpha) did it but Universal rejected it and it was remixed. Even Tobias preferred the original. I think he'll remaster it someday. I'd love to hear the original.
It sounds amazing because the musicians at the time were more melodic, then mechanical. The newer lineup is not a part of the recording or writing process like the old ghouls were. Omega, and Alpha are my favorite, they are the reason I initially started listening during the Myspace days.
One of the Best 70's Classic Rock sounding bands I've ever heard! I love that they added more 80's pop-rock to it later. The lead singer sounds exactly like the lead singer from the Bee Gees: so diggin that. I dont like Satan, but got a kick out of people saying Ghost is his favorite pop metal band.
The Mercyful Fate influence is strong in this song. The chorus sounds like a direct lift of the riffs and melody of "Return of the Vampire" and the bridge sounds just like the end of "A Gruesome Time". Makes me love it even more. I would love to hear Ghost cover some old KD / MF tunes.
I just love this band. They are just so original and their sound is refreshing in metal. And even though metal is an extreme genre (from a musical perspective) but this is a very new take on what history did and this is a dark but also very good to hear in this decade.
First song I heard from Ghost and still one of my faves. Got recommended on That Metal Show and Ive been a fan ever since. Going see these guys with Volbeat. Cant wait!

@@sofiam.8103 yes but they are not naif.. At the begining i thougt they were un imitation of King Diamond. But they are really good musicians, artists, even if the last album is a bit commercial
Wow 10 year anniversary coming up soon ,I found them in 2011 after a friend recommended them ,seen them rise from a few hundred people in small clubs to huge .Congratulations!
I guess you wrote this in 2021 or 2020. I'm curious as to why you said "ten year anniversary coming up soon." Ten years for the album would be 2020. Ten years for the band would 2018. (When they formed in 2008)
We saw them at Fortarock July 2nd!. It was the f*cking suprise of the day. Immediatly purchased the cd. This album wil turn out to be a classic. Mark our words!! Their live performance is really great. It's a great contrast between retro music, the visual, the (christian) spirtuality and spreading another message instead.... It's so amazing and well thoughtover. It's like an addiction. I think they put a spell on us, while watching. Or did they jus convert us, without us knowing? \m/
Yep, Martin Persner(Omega), and Simon Soderberg(Alpha) were an amazing fit musically for Ghost. I stopped caring about live Ghost in July of 2016, but we will always have the studio albums. Omega is better off now anyway re-awakening MCC, he would have never gone for the nascar bible belt kind of business deals going on now in Ghost, no way. Dignity over a paycheck I say.
just compare how modest and tiny the first records sounds in comparison to Prequelle. this and Miasma - a world of difference! i like all of their records, so far it is an amazing evolution.
