As someone who has watched it, things do kind of get a bit lackluster towards the end but that is mostly due to them actually having to resolve the plot.
I feel like when they were dubbing this, at one point, they made attempts to be serious, but went "fuck it" and just went with whatever. This legitimately feels like improv.
There's actually quite a few videos on youtube about the topic of how this dub came to be and it pretty much is what you said, improve. Though the story is far more interesting than just that.
Basically, the anime was poorly selling in Japan. So, when they sold the rights to the dubbing company in America they told them to literally do whatever the fuck they wanted to make the anime sell. Outside of these specific scenes, the anime is really boring. The original is even worse.
@@Uneventfullife "DON'T RUN IN THE HOSPITAL MOTHERF*CKERS!" (I have no idea what they say after that) "NO, IDIOT" "a, okay thanks you" EDIT: the doctor calls her stupid not idiot
@@Uneventfullife "Don't run in the hospital, fuckers! " "Excuse us, have you seen a kid that looks like he is in first grade? " "No, stupid! " " Well, thanks! " "I said Don't run! "
"no corran en el hospital cabrones" (dont run in the hospital assholes) "perdon, has visto al niño que luce que esta en el primer grado?" (excuse me, have you seen a boy that looks like hes in the first grade?) "no ESTÚPIDA" (you already know what that means haha)
According to one of the voice actors, they would fight over who got to record first because everyone would have to base their improv on theirs. They’re was very little script it was between 80-90% improv
@@nesnonya3463 The story of this anime is that it did very poorly in Japan, so they told the English-dubbing team as long as you don’t change the names of the ghosts or the characters you can do whatever the hell you want. I think you can see why Japan never told us to do that again😂
Not 100% from what I can tell. They had free rain but each of the VA took turns doing the voicing so the entire episode would be based off of what the first person decided to do that day.
The fact that the voice acting is still really good despite going completely off the rails (BECAUSE of that even) is so great. You can tell they had a ton of fun. A VA’s dream!
Honestly the "comfort writing" scene is the most accurate portrayal in any anime I've ever seen. Ah this dub was a gem. Now lets all promise to never do it again
@@Tahanok2 eh, I've still run across sub over dub people for that. they're rare, but they exist. Haven't run across a single one for Ghost Stories. At least not yet.
@@evasiveupgrade dragon ball is pretty good, but im still partial to the sub. Even if people think old lady Goku voice is weird, masako nozawa killed it as Goku black.
istg, i’m pretty sure this anime should be considered offensive to me because it’s said something offensive about literally every minority i am but it’s just so fucking funny
I am once again surprised by just how insane this dub is. This sounds like stuff I'd expect to hear in a Snapcube Sonic fandub. I'm going to have to find where I can watch this.
“I would like to give you words of wisdom or comfort or some heartfelt mojo, but I’m so strung out of drugs that I’m doing great just holding the pen” lmao
The plot is actually quite the same as in the dub (although lot less entertaining). The children have to fight a different demon using the braid girl's dead mum's demon banishing book. Lesbian looking demon hunter mum sealed the demons away but now they escaped and it's up to her daughter and her generic friends to banish those demons again. The plot was quite shallow and very boring so they gave the dub team free hands as long as they keep the monsters and how the monsters are destroyed the same.
the legitimate plot is extremely boring. This show SUUUUUUUUUCKKS. It sucks really, really bad, which is a shame cause the animation is actually very pretty. But the writing is just atrocious. That why the dub was given so much free reign to adapt it however they wanted.
Creator of the show: "ok, over in Japan, this anime did terrible, so just go nuts with the lines." Voice Actors: (creates the very first Real-Time Fandub Games)
The fact Japan is gonna do the same with The Island of Giant Insects, really makes me happy. That anime is a trainwreck and the Japanese VAs will give it their all to have their performances be hilarious, while the script is revised due to how bonkers that series is.
I love the random use of Spanish in the English dub and in case your wondering the nurse is yelling in Spanish it's "no running in the hospital hallway to satsuki and then she asks if she has see her brother and then the nurse says no stupid" in Spanish
How about all of them. As a dyslexic person myself, I found that line a little funny, but also DEEPLY Offensive, so I kinda just stared, eyes and mouth wide the first time I heard it.
