Very well done. I am a retired nurse and the first story is not so hard for me to believe. Often, when caring for dying patients, they would tell me that they had seen and talked to their deceased relatives, recently, who had come to help them across into the next world. This happened so often that it didn't surprise me after awhile.
My Mom told me that my grandmother, a few days before passing, had called out to my great-grandmother for help before passing. She had been very close to her mother, losing her suddenly during gallbladder surgery. She never came to terms with her sudden death, going on for many decades lamenting losing her.
As a ex nurse myself I can definitely confirm I've had many patients and even loved ones tell me they have seen deceased relatives when it's close to their time of passing. And honestly as a nurse from London I've seen quite a few spirits in the halls and wards of where I worked looking over the Thames.
Thinking on that King Street haunting, I have to say that I suddenly wonder if, given the way the house's traits were mirrored in its unhappy resident, such "haunted" homes are more like Yoda's magic cave: they contain only what you take with you.
From what some believe, a place with a dark past can effect the owner emotionally. While some believe this to be the work of undiagnosed & underlying mental health issues, such as Depression or Bi-polar Disorder.
Those were the days before testing for carbon monoxide, black mold, and other toxins, and I wonder how many haunted houses have biological explanations
There you are. Love your voice. Miss you. Do you have more than one channel or is this a computer voice? Live ghost stories from the UK. This was really goid. Are you still working with unexplained? Or did you leave? Great stories.
@@CuriousWorldProductions Berry Pommeroy castle has a reputation as a paranormal hotspot. Even the English Heritage website notes that it is reputedly haunted.

@Seamus Carter. Agreed. Bedtime Stories is a good channel, The Paranormal Scholar too. Like this channel they have good, concise narration and good production values.
Just over 10 years ago I was a student living in London. I shared a flat on Highbury New Park, N5 with 2 other students. One night both myself and my friend who had a room next to mine, heard the distinct noise of a horse clip clopping right past our windows, thing is we were on the third floor. My flat mate ran into my room and we both looked out the window as it was just weird. Less than a minute after that there was an almighty crash from the lounge and on inspecting it found an ornament in a thousand piece over the wrong side of the room and our text books open all around the room ( not where we had left them). Turns out our flat was built on the exact spot where a high explosive bomb was dropped during ww2.
You could do an entire video on haunted London theaters. Many years ago in London, I saw "The Woman In Black". When I read the program afterwards, I discovered that the theater was haunted. Glad I didn't know beforehand! 😊
I saw the Woman in Black at the Theatre Royal in Bath, which is also supposed to be haunted by a very unusual "ghost". During the 1948 pantomime rehearsal the theatre manager died of a heart attack while lighting a scene featuring a butterfly dance. Seeing this as an ill-omen, the scene was cut. However just before the show was due to open a live butterfly was sighted (bearing in mind the pantomime season is in the middle of winter) in the theatre, so the scene was replaced. The show was a huge success, and since then every appearance of a butterfly is supposed to be an omen of a good panto - sometimes even appearing on stage during the performance. In honour of their strange mascot the original butterfly set piece from the 1948 show are always hung in the flies.
@@ameerahameerah5372 When the woman was first sighted on stage, my response was, "Where did she come from?!" It was a bit of theatrical redirection: get us all looking downstage left while she appeared upstage right. Or was that reversed? It's been 30 years! The scene with the rocking chair ending with a scream caused the schoolgirls attending that matinee to break out in laughter and talking. I realize now it was tension being broken. A wonderful performance that I can still call to mind right now. Very atmospheric and spooky. Well done by the 2 actors. If you haven't read the novel yet, I highly recommend it. Susan Hill really captured that Victorian sense of menace in her writing. The movie was good, too.
Narrator’s voice is perfect with any copy. I was “visited” by my deceased fiancé abt 8 yrs after his suicide. Stories like these, I find fascinating! 1st time to watch. Quality! I’ve subscribed!
Great creepy stories. I think I'm in love with the narrator's voice because my husband walked by while I was listening to this and asked why I was smiling like an idiot.
@@JessicaDuBois Yes. Obsolete Oddity has a very sexy and interesting accent. He can narrate the most gruesome stories and still hold the listener's interest. 🎙️
I'd love to see one of other capitol cities, like Rome, Italy, Paris, France, etc. I'm American, but traveled to these cities, including London, I even went on a ghost walk in London.
Perhaps you do but you dont realise it's a ghost! If they are dressed in contemporary fashion it's not going to catch your attention unlike dress from another time.
I have an extreme ghost phobia and a terribly overactive imagination, but when I think of ghosts as loved ones coming to sit with us the fear goes away. Great video!
I habe exactly the same!! As kids all adults scared us with ghost stories. As an adult, I try to be rational, but if caught unaware I can get extremely frightened easily.
I live in a 12 floors towerblock, in rural Oslo. Spirits have visited ocationally, and I consider that quite natural..... They usually bring with them a scent of perfume. Some time after my mother's passing, I could smell her favourite scent "Arpege", and I knew she was visiting. Sometimes things go missing in my flat. I then just ask "Please, put it back. I'll need it tomorrow" Next morning, the missing item is right back. 👠💍🙄 Female spirits, I think, borrow the stuff. Because it's usually shoes, a hairbrush or jewellery that disseapear..... Makes me wonder though, which parties my belongings have attended ! 🤔
During WWII my Dad was hired to operate a Caterpillar to help with building runways for military use at a London airport. It's quite possible it was the same as spoken of in this video. I have fond memories of Dad and the stories he told of his youth in Ireland and England. He immigrated to the US, Iowa, in 1949. He married my Mom in 1951 and they had 6 kids. He farmed his entire life here as it was all he wanted to do since his childhood. My Dad passed in 1989, much too young and my Mom in 2005. When he died, my Mom gave up on life. Us kids are all still alive and scattered across the country. I still live on the family farm. BTW, my Dad lied to the foreman about his being qualified to run a Cat. In actuality, he'd never seen one before. Too young to be hired and another lie, at 16, he learned quickly. RIP
My father ran those machines, eventually learning to run any machine used in the construction of car parks, highways, and the cranes to build skyscrapers. Your father must have been a skillful liar as well as a very quick study. I'm sorry for your loss. My own beloved dad passed 3 years ago, and I miss him every day.
Thank-you for sharing your Dad's story with us. I lost my Dad due to an aggressive cancer last year. My Mom has all but given up as well. She now has cancer, though treatable. I truly feel its due to her broken heart. Time makes no difference just that I guess we sort of get used to living with the loss. You never really get over it do you? I mean I literally go to call my Dad to tell him something on a daily basis, only to realize that I can no longer do that.
@@sherryab3964 That's heartbreaking, Sherry. I think about my mom and dad almost every day even after all these years. I don't think we're meant to get over the death of a loved one. We honor them by thinking about them and the good times we had with them. I can't imagine not fondly remembering my folks nearly every day. God bless.
@@52ponybike I'm the same Sherry. I still talk to my Dad who died suddenly in his sleep fifteen years ago and I'm not even in the same country now. I have his easy chair in my bedroom and sit in it in the quiet to feel close to him. He is still with me.
Utterly brilliant. More like this please! Easy to follow, to the point and really interesting. You are a great narrative. Top marks, more pretty please!!
I was haunted, for over 15yrs,it was not pleasant at all.. They had followed me,from the house where it started... I eventually found someone to help me,now I live in Peace, although,I still sleep with a light on. (at least I can sleep!)❤🦉x.
@@drwoo6090 Hahahaa, yep you think it's funny, until it happens to you!! I was sceptical, and so was my Very pragmatic husband... Anyway,I keep an open mind now,and not one that you can hear the wind whistling through. Happy New Year!🤗🦉X.
I have been watching your videos for most of the day and night. However, before I go to bed, I have to say, thank you for these stories, ghosts and histories and macabre findings. One nigth after work on the underground i was reading a newspaper waiting for the last tube and there was no one next to me , i suddenly heard a mans voice asking , “How are you.” . .?. ..God it was so real , i always think that a spirit tried to make contacted.
The story of the apparition seen by airport personnel standing behind a living employee reminds me of a story told in a similar video about hauntings in the London Underground. In this case, a man working at night reported an unauthorized person in one of the tunnels, and a security guard went to check it out. Via radio, the security guard said there was no one there, but the other person kept saying it was right there beside him. Crazy! EDIT: I forgot to say that, in each instance, the anecdotes are told by the people who actually had the experiences.
I know the story you're talking about, the one where the ghost was in white overalls and the only thing that remained were the overalls placed over the bench - I think the scariest one was the face that appeared through the wall and the saddest was all those people (172) who died when Bethnal Green Tube was used as an Air Raid Shelter (when construction had just been completed) and there was a panic when what they thought was an AR Siren sounded and a Woman holding a baby tripped on the last two steps (damp, wet, slippery) and, as a result, all those lives were lost and the ghosts/spirits of the Women and children can still be heard, under certain conditions, crying/screaming (gradually increasing in intensity).
Love these paranormal tales.Could somebody help me out please with an experience I had when I was a child around 50 yrs ago.I was walking with my parents & siblings along the river Thames, think fairly near London bridge. It was daytime & as I walked ahead of them,I saw a woman overlooking the river. She was completely chalk white, hair face etc.Completly still. She was plump & had bushy hair. She had a suitcase which was on the ground at her side also completely white.Being a child of around 11 or 12 I didn't think of it as odd. However,as I ran ahead I looked back & she had vanished. In those days there were no street or mine artists. It has always stayed with me & wondered if anyone could throw some light on this strange experience I had?
12:30 radar can’t Detect people only metal objects and certainly not on ground level otherwise rate I will be picking up everybody walking about for miles.
Okay yes. The second story scared the s@% out of me. Really. Bulging eyes and black tongues......I'm going to watch puppies and kittens to clear my brain lol
Love this vid, always love hearing ghost stories and you did this one excellently. Would be great to do ghost stories from around Britain, I'm from liverpool my friend and we have a lot of ghost stories and time slips. Great vid really enjoyed it, much respect and god bless curious.
Ghost stories for Christmas, perfect. I loved those old photos of London. I've seen a lot of comments about the radar, probably a story embellishment by an author; my family had several trips to Heathrow in the 70s to watch the planes, I remember the control tower. It would have had a clear line of sight to the runway back then. Thank you for a very interesting video, happy Christmas and New Year to you.
Happy Christmas to you. Yes, that was an oversight due to two things: my lack of knowledge of airport technology and relying on, as you put it, an embellished story.
With the enormous amount of people in and around the hustle and bustle of London, it makes you wonder how many people you walk past are actually ghosts without you realising.
A Kurri acquaintance of mine was killed in a highway accident. He had a head-on collision with another vehicle. His leg was torn completely off, and he lay in the road with blood pumping out of the wound in copious amounts. The first on the scene was another acquaintance who had once been a nurse. She looked at my friend, but there was nothing she could do with no medical kit. The passenger also was seriously injured, but he was not so bad. She worked on him as best she could until the ambulances arrived, and very likely saved his life. That same night when she was asleep in her loft bedroom, alone and out in the country, she heard heavy footsteps coming up to her room. She got out of bed and looked down the stairs. It was my friend who had died in the road that afternoon. He was a big man and a bit of a rough character. He said to her angrily, 'What did you do to me???' She said, 'You died in a car crash at 'Hat Head turnoff. Your leg was torn off. I couldn't do a thing to save you!' He said, 'Oh, is that what happened?' Then he turned and walked back down the steps, and was gone.
When I was in London, I immediately had the feeling of how many ghosts in London are still incomprehensible things, This suggests that there are killed people and children, a terrible feeling
At 10:55 there's the newspaper article about the airport crash, note the partial article to the left about 'Lucy'! In 1948 a rich guy from Stourbridge was about to die without heirs, so he decided to divide his fortune among his servants, one of those servants being 'Lucy Smith', than 50 years old, who had worked for her employer since 1918, when she was 20. Except, when it came to legal matters, there was no Lucy Smith, only a Lucy Green, so legally she wasn't allowed the inheritance (which was considerable). After some research it was discovered that the two women were identical. Her employer had called her 'Lucy' for thirty years without bothering to ask her surname. When he made up the will, he believed her surname to be 'Smith', which was obviously wrong. According another newspaper, despite the confusion about her identity, later that year Lucy did receive the inheritance after all (a benevolent act of court I guess)! Thanks Curious World for the bonus story! =)
My cuzz said she was drinking in a church yard with friends at 3 in morning in a place called ipswich qld australia we have a big town clock in the middle of town not far from church yard she was drinking....she said no bull....it looked like a big black panther type spirit jump on the wall climbing up to the clock....then it disappeared🤤
Well what in the hell was she doing drinking in a church yard anyway. It almost certain that she pissed some spirit off. That's concecrated ground and that is considered by the faithful as dececration and sacreligious. It's also highly disrespectful. So it stands to reason she'd see something that would scare her. She wasn't wanted there due to what she was doing.
There really are unexplainable incidents out there. My Father had an encounter not too dissimilar to the hitch hiker.seeing those old pics of Hammersmith was cool. Enjoyed your commentary.
Fabulous video! Perfect pace, superb background effects & amazing camera work. Such intriguing stories. You have such a lovely voice- perfect for ghostly storytelling!😬💀
My first ever night in London in a hostel in Westminster which was in one of those big, white Georgian buildings, me and the girls in one room experienced multiple ghost experiences that night.
Had a late family friend tell me many ghost stories about the Clapham and Battersea area. He was an amazing story teller, wish I could hear just one more.
It's 1:52 am in Maryland right now. My Avatar is the girl in Chicago who is known to hitch hike. She gets in the car & she always wants to be taken to the graveyard...then once at the graveyard, while she walks away, she just...dissapears! One man who'd gone to the girl's parent's home they told them their daughter had died a few years back !!!
There's a really good video on youtube about hauntings in the London Underground - it's called Ghosts on the Underground by Antonio Marques. It was intriguing and very well made; I'd definitely recommend watching it if you haven't already :)
Looks like I found myself another "Bedtime Stories" channel! Full of chilling and spooky stories, well narrated and covering interesting accounts/events!
I used to live in Hammersmith, for many years.I have been to king street many many times. Its lovely to see it as it once was and to hear about its history.
12:12 there is a problem with this account. No surface movement radar, certainly not of 70s vintage would be able to discern a person on the ground. At best a tiny return of clutter, but it would not be apparent what exactly that clutter was, if visible at all on “radar”. I’m not sure Heathrow even had surface movement radar at that point rather primary radar and perhaps secondary surveillance which are both not concerned with the airport surface. Granted the figure might have been visibly spotted by the tower controller and it later turned into “radar” as is common in folk lore when people talk of aviation matters (the word radar tends to get casually slotted into everything, the “aircrafts radar etc”). Also unlikely is a Police inspector was sent out to a runway. Usual form is an airside operations vehicle to attend anything to do with the runway. That killjoy bit aside, great stories still and very enjoyable!
Does anyone know roughly where James Wentworth Day would have lived along King Street in Hammersmith? I can't find anything about this story with just a quick google and I'm curious about whether I would know the area or not. Any help would be appreciated!
Check out the White Hart Menheniot Cornwall. My friend and I stayed there in separate rooms in 2018 and both of us had stuff happen to us that freaked us out. I really want to go back and share the room that I was in to see if anyone else has the same experience .
I'm a new subscriber to your channel and so far very pleased. You're a true storyteller. I'm visiting London in April and will try and look for the places mentioned in this video.
Would have commented earlier however we're in the midst of a bushfire evacuation so things for us both are "currently interesting" - one of the less great things about living in semi-rural Australia! An excellent presentation as usual, and something to take my mind of our current predicament! :-)
There's a similar case to the last one: given by paramedics' ghost stories. In this as I recall: a man's call brings them to a house where they find this man in the house, who asks the paramedics to check on his ailing wife upstairs. When they reach the dying woman upstairs: they explain her husband had ushered them in and remained downstairs. She explains, her husband had died years earlier.
I love ghost stories and anything macabre and I don't scare easily but that second story of the dark presence in the corner of the room actually spooked me! I will be dreading having to turn out the light tonight!!!!
I can't say enough good things about this channel and these videos! So well done! Thank you so much for such exceptional content! I truly appreciate the excellent work you do researching each of these!
I love this channel and I am so glad videos are uploaded again. This is quality mate! NB, radars do not show people locations. Radar do not work that way.
That’s just what my mom and I said as soon as we saw the photograph of Day in this video! The resemblance is jarring! If this story were ever adapted into a horror flick, it would be interesting to see Depp as Day.
We have a "phantom hitchiker" story/myth here in Florida as well. Ours is supposedly a teenage girl and she's walking along the Sunshine Skyway Bridge over Tampa Bay. If she gets in your car, she vanishes once you pass over the bridge. I know these phantom rider stories are myths, but I still find them delightfully spooky. And if I saw a woman walking along that bridge ar night, I'd have to just keep on driving!
