Come with us on a wild week in the remote ranges exploring what was once a thriving gold rush town in regional Australia. This was a town that in total had over 550 kilos of gold mined from the creeks and reefs. The first gold found here was undocumented but the mining warden at that time noted that many prospectors seemed "content" and did not leave the area. These early reports were from 1861! By 1871 the word was out and over 50 reefs had been opened up by adits, trenches, pits and shafts. The town was booming and the population swelled to just over 7000 residents. By 1878 the miners struggled with water supply, faulting and subsequent vein displacement and wildly varying grades of gold. This made the reef mining unprofitable or impossible.
Fast forward 180 years and QAM arrive to document what is left of the old township. We then in typical QAM fashion hike into the ranges to see what stories the miners left behind in the mines.
QAM and it's crew strongly urge viewers to live vicariously through our content but not to carry out any acts you see us publish. Exploring underground can be fatal to any poorly equipped or untrained explorers.
