If you want to get a feel for the remoteness of the wild west, you'll see and experience it at the semi-ghost town of Medicine Bow, Wyoming. In the heart of the town, the Virginian Hotel is a beautiful "Belle" of its day, still furnished as it was when the town was busy and famous. Guests are always welcome for overnight stays and for great meals in an old town atmosphere. The museum in the old train depot is a joy to visit, with so many things to see along with antiquities of the past. The old "Fossil Cabin" is a really unique attraction to see, being relocated closer to town and is made up mostly of thousands of dinosaur bones! Medicine Bow is a one-of-a-kind semi-ghost town that is really a lot of fun to see and visitors are always welcome.

Plan to spend the night at The Virginian in Medicine Bow. I’ve stayed there twice and it really takes you back in time.

Wyoming offers a special feeling in History and personal experience. It is a Benefic energies feeling to me. Note to self: ("The Virginian") book, originally published in 1902. Owen Wister, Author Medicine Bow, WY Hotel: "The Virginian" 1911 on the Lincoln Highway

What a great story. Interesting to hear that the military was twice what the local population was.

I bet the fearce winter storm of the 1918/1919 was indeed horrific. But I think this winter has been as bad. Interesting town. Thank you.

Medicine Bow, was all set to have I-80 go through, on the same route as old 30. But, it didn't happen, and the town shrank big time. I live in Cheyenne Wyoming and I've never been there. But I know of its history. I-80 really did a job on town in Nebraska.

I had no idea that trains had those huge snow removers back then. I thought that was a more modern invention. It is amazing what people back then could accomplish from sheer will power.

@@ghosttownsandmore Your works are such Professional Productions, with excellent Narration, and truly an enjoyment to watch. I just discovered this Channel today, have watched about 3 - 4 and Subscribed to support your efforts. A Sociologist/Behavioralist and Historian, I enjoy the History Content and observing the Human Behavior. I hope to see about a 50 min +/- episode. Maybe a Special Series can warrant some longer pieces. I've a particular fondness for Nevada, (lived there 17 years), and the Ancients that inhabited the West, DNA now revealing that the Mayans drifted North, others too no doubt, escaping the Spanish and their destruction. Best Thoughts and Great Successes ... Beth

Didn’t see the big ugly black building that faced 30, had a pretty good restaurant in the 60’s, always stopped there until 80 bypassed 30.

The fossil cabin needs to be moved. It's getting vandalized, and the weather is making its way into the building

I've noticed that's a RU-vid trait. Must have to adjust the audio lower before Uploads.
