SELLER: I will only sell you this car if you promise NOT to turn it into an ECTO-1. CLINT: I promise. (Because I already have one. ECTO-1A, however is a completely different car...)
Windshield is 59/60 but front bumper ist 1961-64. Old one has lights in it, newer one like youres not. The smaler fins still 1961-64. The rear lights tell me its a 1964 deville. the 64 only has these triangle shaped rear lights. but it looks so simmilar! it will be a great ecto 1 ❤
Congratulations on an amazing purchase and good luck with the building project of this legendary vehicle. I know that a lot of people choose the original movie to bring the Ghostbusters car back to life, but I've always liked the second part a lot more. So I hope you will be able to create an excellent replica of the new Ecto-1.
I appreciate that! I think the 1A will be a lot more fun to build. The Ecto-1 looks intricate, but there's really not much to the roofrack. Plus there are about a thousand of them out there now.
@@unfinishedstudios Personally I’ve always found the 1A to be more professional looking than the 1. As it has caution stripes indicating that there’s dangerous equipment inside and outside the vehicle, slogans and phone numbers to show it’s from a company and specific light colors represent the various services they provide. Idk if I said this before or not; maybe I’m just a broken record when it comes to your Ecto videos. Lol. Do you think not many fans build exact replicas of 1A because of its OTT look? Maybe the height of the roof rack and millions of lights turn them away and rather go for the simplicity of the Ecto-1?
Hey why not you can fix the headlight problem why not just find the original front of the car and then put it on your original car that you have that has the headlights wrong and then you fix it and I would’ve been with a boom
I think I'm going to leave it be. After we paint it, I was thinking of bolting on some faux-fins that I may scratch-build, but that's all I think I'd do. If it was a rust bucket, I might consider a swap.
@@unfinishedstudios I have a small collection also, they are fun to work on and rebuild. Good luck with the car, looking forward to seeing your progress!
You asked us to help with video ideas. Perhaps make a quick one about the REALLY BAD GHOSTBUSTERS MOVIE & your opinion on it. I went to the theater & walked out halfway thru.
I actually have not seen it. I love the cast, but I just... I don't do remakes of my favorite movies. Never seen Rob Zombie's Halloween movies, the 2014 TMNT, etc.
Good luck buddy!! Given how passionate and crafty you are about the Ectomobile, I’m willing to bet that after finishing this Ecto-1A and the Wrecto-1, you’ll soon start looking for cars to make the cartoon versions (TRGB and XGB) of the Ectomobile lol. Like you said, by the your kids are older or when you’re gone, you’ll probably have 10 Ectomobiles. Btw, I know the fin size on these mid 60s caddys are a bit small, but have you ever thought about making some taller make shift fins to sit on top the preexisting fins? Not necessarily 1959 styled, but something to make the fins taller and look factory made.
Always appreciate the kind words! Hope you're doing well. But to answer your question: Actually yes. I was thinking of fiberglassing some faux-59 fins to sort of sit on this one. It'll probably be the last thing we do, though. Once all the crap is on the roof and the decals are on, the fins might be moot, you know?
@@aussiefurbymogwaifan6621 you’re right about that. I feel like after ghostbusters, every single hearse/ambulance’s fate was sealed. I mean that movie single handedly made hearses and ambulances desirable, cool and popular by car and pop culture enthusiasts a like. And now these cars are given a whole new purpose in life; They go from delivering people to either hospitals and/or cemeteries, to entertaining people and fandoms.
Okay listen I have a question for you I'm a 13-year-old who really wants to get my own horse to make my own Ghostbusters ecto-1 but I am having trouble cuz I really want to get one right now and I don't want to wait a long time so I have a question can you give me some tips to convince my parents to say yes and they're Bosnian and parents so
I watched Spider-Man: Homecoming recently, and am feeling a little Tony Stark-ish to your Peter Parker here. You'll have time, but you might be a little young for it right now. Why don't you go small and start buying all the stuff for the roof? Start putting the lightbars together, find the WWII oxygen tanks, the siren, the strobe, etc -- when your parents see your collection and notice how much time and effort you put into it -- that it's not just a short fad for you -- then they might consider helping you buy a car in a few years. How's that for advice? ------TONY STARK IS NO LONGER TRANSMITTING.
Yeah, that's the plan. We built the other car in like '03, so I didn't really document any of it. The idea of RU-vid vlogging was VERY far away at that point.
I love the way "you find the car" on that shape, black and rusty like the way Ray find the Ecto 1 in the first movie. It’s so nostalgic even I wasn’t born to see the movie in 1984. That 1964 Cadillac is amazing. I hope you would find one of the 400 of 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor.
Hey thanks! I was born in 1987, so age doesn't matter! Yeah, I love this car and can't believe we found it. I'm going to keep looking for that '59, but I'm pretty satisfied with the '60 M&M we've got -- even in the condition it's in.
They really need to do a proper restoration of Ecto-1A. Buy a new car and build it up or remake the Afterlife car into the Ecto-1A. We need this project to have as much positively charged slime as possible.
Needs a little engine, shocks, brakes, brake lining, steering box, transmission rear end, hopefully only $4800.00 also rings, new mufflers and a little extra wiring.
@@unfinishedstudios i didn't realise it was that late a model, I thought this one looked about right, goes to show how much of that movie I committed to memory..
Is that one a bit shorter at the rear than the '59? Excellent channel.Love it.I would love to get my hands on one and bring it over to Scotland, although I would most likely drop a Straight 6 diesel from a BMW into it.Our fuel is stupid-expensive here.
Personally I haven't managed to scratch owning a hearse off the bucket list yet nearly had one a few times but besides the price being insane they were ridiculously rotten Beyond Salvage. Ghostbusters van 2 times now using a 2008 Dodge Caravan.the first one about a year after I started doing it the motor blew out and the body was too far gone to replace the motor on top of how much the Bodywork would have cost.i bout a nother 1 the same colour with about half the mileage for 500 and needed a hell of a lot less body work.i Have a ridiculous box of parts that I still haven't had the money to have put on the van after a boat a year and a half.no Not life-or-death parts;) .i meen cosmetic stuff.i Use the van for work hauling scrap and i barely make enough to get from one month to the next lol so spending about 600 box having things wired and put on is it really considered as important as stuff like having the brakes and steering working;). if i win the lotto admittedly I wouldn't mind having one of those old mercuries but I don't know how far I go doing one up to look like the Ghostbusters car.iam not a big fan of a lot of the stuff on the roof I like the roof lights and the basic white and red body but admittedly I'm not wild about a lot of that plumbing and foolishness but I like some of the more practical things like the CB antennas and roof lights. Still haven't gotten my hands on a couple of old manual police car search lights for on the doors.i have an engine Bonnet with a remote Searchlight on it from the previous van. Ironically that light cost more than I paid for the other van and it was on the van when I bought it lol. Wireless remote Searchlight I've been trying to get a second one so it'll have one on either side matching but the damn light used I've seen them wanting 400 + 600 apparently knew it's over 1,000. Finding one of these old mercuries with that low amount of rest is just mind-blowing.
Who cares if it's not a 59 Miller media car. Seriously some people's opinions are toxic. Enjoy what you have and ignore the clowns. Mate of mine bought two 59 hearse last year but one got stolen in transport before reaching the exporters shop for shipping to Australia and the second one turned out to he a stolen car from 40 years ago that's in a legal battle as to who is owner of it now.
@@unfinishedstudios I've got a code 3 force 4 LP6000 lightbar, it was amber but I bought clear lenses for it. I also have a couple of premier hazard bars, and vision alert.
Same! I've got a few options, but I'm going to wait until we have the roofrack mounted to the car before I buy anything -- just so I've got the dimensions right.
I think I'm gonna do a separate video just on those. They look kinda sluggish in this video because the battery I had them attached to was about to die.
I was thinking of doing a video about that. Facebook Marketplace is my favorite for old cars and antiques right now. eBay is always an option, but the prices are sky-high there. Craigslist used to be the gold standard, and I still use it a bit. I think those are my big three.
Ok!!! So... I love your videos. In the best Walter Peck voice I can muster. Can we... PLEASE... see the progress on Ecto 1A? Because we're curious, we want to know what it is you're doing here.
@@unfinishedstudios awww! Yeah I hear that, well, I'll be on the lookout for that blessed event. BTW, I love your coaches, whether they're screen accurate or not they look so good. You and your dad have a great thing going. Peace bro, keep on bustin'
Tell me about it. It's hard enough to find time to get the other one out and store it, etc. I don't know we're gonna do with this one when it's finished.
That's awesome! Hey and don't beat yourself up about your other Ecto 1. What you and your Dad accomplished with it was amazing! And it looked great! Shoot when I was 15 I was playing N64 with my brother shirtless on a couch. You built an Ecto 1 at that age! Remarkable. My 2 sons age 9 & 11 love your channel. I can't wait until they get home from school so I can show them this video. We will be watching the progress! As always, Nice work!
That's awesome! I hope they liked the video! Don't beat yourself up -- my dad did all the heavy lifting (figuratively and literally.) I was more of a bodywork person and the one who told him where to weld. I want this car to be sort of MY challenge this time. Thanks for the comments. Hopefully we get this rolling soon -- I'm excited!
At this point getting a caddy before they went square in the 70's is close enough. Man you got to keep that exhaust sound it would be so badass have a 1A sound like that. I totally dream of building a 1A someday most people want the Ecto but I love the 1A.
funny thing is I was gonna build an Ecto-1A out of this car when my friend and I pulled this out of the junkyard in Valdese,North Carolina. At the time I had owned a 1971 Cadillac Hearse that i was building my Ectomobile out of. I tried to convince my friend to let me have the 64 since he wasn't gonna do anything to it except restore it or flip it. He insisted that i had a better car because of the 472 motor in the 71 but i didn't care about the motor that i was going for the look. I see his truck and trailer in the video so he must have delivered it to you. I have pics and video from the day we picked her up back on Sunday April 8th 2018 if you are intrested. I'm happy that it's going to be the car that i was intending on building. I currently now have a 1969 Cadillac Miller Meteor Ambulance that i found last year that im building into an Ecto-1A. Looking forward to seeing videos and pics soon!
@@unfinishedstudios I want to hang one in my home office that matches the ecto 1a light scheme. A VFD I was a part of years ago had several but I never thought to grab one lol.
