In the first Ghostbusters movie, before facing Gozer, Winston had only been a Ghostbusters for 2 weeks. After they beat Gozer they were sued until they were forced to go out of business. Then five years later, Vigo happened, and after that, this game. Winston hadn't had enough time to gel with the main three until after Ghostbusters 2, and you see that he has found his place with them in this game.

I know I'm a bit late, but I agree with the first point. The children's library was super unsettling, especially when you think about what happened there. I didn't find the catacombs terribly scary though. However, screw the maze. I hated the maze. All the whispering around me really put me on edge

To add on, its not just moaning, there are actual voices speaking. Especially in the catacombs, when they were asking if they should attack know, and another voice telling them to wait....

Seriously, the scoring was a character unto itself in the movie, and they used it to great effect in the game. There were some moments that just came out so much better because of that classic music.

I saw it yesterday, been binging all sorts of ghostbusters media since. I think they just sorta cherry picked some bits from past stuff here and there to add more lore and stuff to the new film.

Its entirely possible. Remember, Gozer was SUPPOSED to be defeated after the end of GB1, yet, here he is as the Stay Puff again. Perhaps Shandor wasnt completely gone. Ghost shit is WEIRD. I dont honestly see anything that could contradict it.

It really is. Dan akroyd had said he wanted ghostbusters 3 to have hell coming into Manhattan. This looks.like it took that idea. It did it better than akroyd had explained too. Tying into the mythos of ivo shandor was a good move too

The story as I'm aware of it now is that Sigourney Weaver didn't want to be involved due to previous negative experiences she's had taking part in video games, in particular the Alien franchise (bear in mind, 2009. Long before Alien Isolation). She changed her mind once she found out Bill Murray was actually on board, but by then the game was too far along in development to incorporate her.

Damn shame.

If the game didn't use pre-rendered cutscenes, I'm sure they would have been some kind of customisation. The reason for pre-rendering in-engine cutscenes was for the facial animation technology used. Any time in this video you are seeing letterboxing, that's because the cutscene is a pre-rendered video rather than being rendered in real-time. As it is, the Rookie is intentionally about as generic as you can get and, of course, un-named.

The Rookie model is actually based off of a real producer who worked at Sierra, Terminal and Sony approached him about playing the part and he agreed to it.

I just did a run on Steam with the specific intent to unlock the achievement "The Destructor" (complete the game with more than $3,000,000 in property damage) That was ... way more fun than it had any right to be.

You can still play the game, albeit through the backward compatibility (if you have an Xbox 360, the graphics looks much more clean and beautiful in 1080p/4K)

@@gjtrue Sadly it makes this game non-canon which did a way better job at handling Gozer and Ivo Shandor. Afterlife for me just rehash the same story we already saw in part 1 and gave us nothing new. I really wish Hollywood would move on from these franchises and trying recreate what the first movie did.

@@BOND19951 It doesn't necessarily make this game non-canon. Afterlife takes place in June 2021, and this game in 1991. "There hasn't been a ghost sighting in 30 years" could be right on the mark, or ghost sightings could have stopped in 1992.

I played this from start to finish when it came out.

Honestly? I think this could lead up to Afterlife. This is set in 1991. No ghost sightings in 30 years... leads to 2021. When Phoebe is standing in front of the dates at the temple, she was blocking one, but it is clearly about 2021. So... was Shandor in this game? Maybe... or, someone/thing claiming to be Shandor. The skull of Gozer can easily be a fake, to cause intimidation and fear, and to hype them up. Thus, the game can easily fit in, and lead to Afterlife. My take on it.

@@TheDWB They don't get a mention, because they wanted things simple. Afterlife cannot simply please fans, it has to attract new ones. Thus, ignoring those two simplifies things, and makes the point of entry easier. So you might well have later films mention them in passing, making them canon.

@@horseradishpower9947 this is a good point at least for gb2. I was kinda miffed they didn't even have 1989 on that wall of dates. I think what happened to shandor in the game makes it mostly incompatible with afterlife and frankly it was pointless even putting shandor in the film. We can probably wrangle it into still being canon though.

@@TheDWB Where there's a will, there's a way. And lots of fans hold this in high regard, and honestly? I think the game should still be canon. It really fits in well, and you can imagine this being the catalyst for Egon doing extra research, and then going to Summerville.
