It's usually just for marketing purposes. Wu Tang's next album could be called "36 Chambers Part 2", but it doesn't mean it would be a natural sequel. It would most likely be a way to hype people up. For concept albums, where the artist tells a story, it could make sense with a sequel. Explore the characters and their stories more.

Ghostface Killah said in 2013 that his next solo album is going to be Supreme Cliente 2. Wu Tang members seem to have a thing with announcing albums that never comes out, or that they announce an album 10+ years before release xD
