I think the reason why there are so many haters that haven't even listened to them is because their first albums very much was metal which landed them in the metal category, so when Forge started to implement non metal styles into the songs combined with some metal riffs we have these gate keepers be like: "This isnt metal this sucks I refuse to listen to it" especially when they started to implement pop aspects into it.
Spot on. They are pigeonholed as 'metal', but in reality they cover so many sub-genres of rock, including doom metal, prog, '80s arena rock (modernised), pop/rock.
As someone who has played in death and industrial death metal bands, I've loved Ghost since I saw them in Vegas on their first US tour, a year or so before they shot to fame. They're so good live, and honestly, the gatekeeping that happens around Ghost is so juvenile. They're a dope band. Full stop.
There's also a lot of close minded people who find that any clean vocals aren't metal, genuinely I've had people say sabaton and iron maiden aren't metal before
I was at the LA show. No cell phones were allowed because it was being recorded for the movie. It was an amazing experience to be at a show without a thousand phones in front of you. It was like going to a show in the 80s/90s.
You got the most right. Only thing is that the live musicians you see in this video never plays on the albums. The only musician that played on an album is Martin Persner original Omega) who plays on some songs on Infestissumam and Meliora. Aksel Holmgren who plays drums on Infestissumam, Henrik Palm who plays bass on Meliora and on Opus Gustav Lindström plays bass but he only played like five or ten shows live on the first tour. So there is no and have never been a full band who works together. The live musicians comes from many places around the world and one of them is swedish as Tobias. That is Per Ericsson on solo guitar.
I kick myself that i was late to the party of ghost. I'm now a huge huge fan and can't wait for the chance to see them live. I love seeing your genuine appreciation for them 🖤
Same here! I was talking about music with my supervisor several months back and he recommended this group to me and was like "Dude, just look past their aesthetic and actually just listen to the music. If you like 70s and 80s rock like you're saying you do you'll probably love them." He was not wrong and I actually like the aesthetic so there was nothing to look past LOL.
Yup exactly. I'm a makeup artist and if it was makeup it wouldn't look that good sweating through a 2 hr show. It would be all smeared and everywhere on the clothing
I wish they would release the entire Tampa show as a professional video too. It looks incredible. I really want to see it. I don’t want to see them live… I HAVE to see them live. Tobias Forge is definitely a musical and theatrical genius.
This is just a really good song with excellent 80s vibes. It's almost a perfect song if you know what that is. Great hooks and chorus. And the synth adds a great background. Reminds of many bands in the 80s although these guys have a way.. WAAAY.. better production.
Saw 'em live for the first time at Download Festival in Sydney, Australia - recently caught their Re-Imperator tour concert in Sydney as well. Really looking forward to the next Ritual.
