Director James Cameron journeys back to the site of his greatest inspiration--the legendary wreck of the Titanic. With a team of the world's foremost historic and marine experts and friend Bill Paxton, he embarks on an unscripted adventure back to the final grave where nearly 1,500 souls lost their lives almost a century ago. Using state-of-the-art technology developed expressly for this expedition, Cameron and his crew are able to explore all of the wreckage, inside and out, as never before.

She’s still on her maiden voyage and still as beautiful as the day she left port. Those windows are absolutely beautiful and the woodwork is phenomenal, much like Paxton said.. time has been kind to her she’s aged like a fine wine she’s still as beautiful as she was on the surface Eurgh. Honestly... You don't get to fully understand the pain, despair, sadness, and fear that all of those people had to pass through that tragic night, until you see the wreck of what titanic used to be, and you finally understand why is such a horrible and sad tragedy. All of these poor people slowly drowning or dying on the cold water. All those families that were broken that night. All those kids that were left without a father, or were left without both parents. R.I.P Titanic, and everyone that was inside of it, no matter which reason you had, better opportunities or just wanting to travel to other country. Sometimes i just ask myself what would happen if the Titanic never sank.

It’s so sad that there are so many billionaires out there, that no one would have the interest and idea to rebuild a Titanic exactly like the original one. With the classy, old, beginning of the 20th century decoration, only with newest engines, newest life boats and the recent safety measurements... It would be the attraction of the century! I know lots of people think there should never be a new Titanic, because it was a tragedy and there should be only one, the original, but many people really want to experience this famous liner come alive again. The design, the size, everything...
@AHTOTALGAMER

Louis was the one who wrote the basic script for Titanic movie, and when Cameron was searching for who could play Louis Bodine character, he simply couldn't find anyone who would fit the role, so he asked Louis to play himself (also in Titanic movie, the crew members in Mir subs and on board when they open the safe and also later scenes, are actually this research ship's crew. Rose in movie indeed arrives on Keldish - they build helo deck on it, bc it wasn't originally there.

That was great! I remember reading on utube about 7 months ago to watch "ghosts of abyss" as i watched a few great dives that jim cameron had did. And i read the book in 2006 or about that time, and the book was good to see the amazing photos of the great huge ship in colour. But i didnt think about it much, and a few comments were even asking how do i get to see ghosts of the abyss on utube? Is it online and all that stuff. Then i just came across it there by luck. Do you notice even fully grown men when at that depth say "its really scary down here, i had no idea the ship was so big my this is amazing to watch, once you look at it from the side half way up thats when you really see how huge it is" every one knows its big but once they see it for real up close its size just shocks them. And even the sub next to it looked tiny as the lights were on it.

@lw9956
@lw9956 2 года назад
He did a documentary where he showed a simulation showing the stern sinking with a heavy list to port after the break up - but he seems to have gone back to believing in the l vertical theory. Personally the vertical stern matches survivor accounts and many recent simulations include this theory
@gokulgopan4397
@gokulgopan4397 Год назад
But the vertical stern matches survivor accounts. Maybe a 80-85 degree angle. Also the water level could be at the well deck level, not as the movie shows. The vertical stern could be possible, air pocket and the keel pulling the stern down could keep it vertical.

When Bill talked about all the wood work and the detail that man had made shouldn't be at the bottom on the ocean. Thing is, It's still with us today, because its at the bottom of the ocean. If the liner had lived as long as Olympic then Titanic too would join her sister later on at the breakers where no doubt Titanic would not even exist. Britannic soon after. She'd be looked at as outdated. Also all the Olympic class liners would of been forgotten! I couldn't possibly imagine the fear of those who knew their fate that day, those who were lost to the sea. Words could not describe...

The Mir's are what a Deep Sea Submersible should be like! Spherical crew area, made of Titanium, tested, regulated, well equipped, etc! It's crazy to think that despite these subs being built in the Soviet era and retired now, they're still better than the crap OceanGate built! That thing wasn't built to go to the bottom of the deep end of a pool, let alone the Titanic!!
@AJ1987LV
@AJ1987LV Год назад
And they never went down by one. Always together, so even if something did happened to one sub, the other was backing them up and could help. These subs were built, tested for years and retrofitted over time to keep them up in shape and most important, safe. This is why not only Cameron, but few others who did scientific expeditions to Titanic, hired Keldish crew and Mir subs. They were the best for such task.

This is the best footage ever of Titanic under water it wasn't in the state it is in now. Even these submarines look more better modern and advanced than the Titan ahead of their time. The Titan looks like it's was made in some farmers barn an Xbox controller to control it seriously what in the actually fuck were they thinking? Amatuer stuff compared to this no wonder it went wrong.

Watching this shows how much common sense was lacking with the back yard built Titan sub. For fuck sake they used the worst, cheapest bluetooth controller.

51:06 I find it funny that Lewis is the one asking all these questions about how the ship sank and how it split, when he’s the one who explained it to Rose himself in Titanic (1997)!

This is one of the greatest documentaries, movies, even, that I’ve ever seen. Clearly the Titan Implosion brought me here and the absolute juxtaposition of the professionalism and engineering of Cameron’s crew vs. that of the Titan is staggering. The movie overlays on the wreckage here was so well done. Bill Paxton was great. And the sequence of Jake and Elwood… just as gripping as any Cameron or Paxton film. And then with the twist at the end with a modern day tragedy coupled on top of the Titanic… just really powerful and moving stuff. Well done. 👏 👏 👏

I remember watching it in cinemas in 3D when it came out. I was 10 back then and this bored the hell out of my mum, but I loved it. Still keep coming back every few months or so when another wave of watching all things Titanic come along. The tech and discovery never ceases to amaze and it is quite sad about the loss of a beautiful ship and people

I saw a documentary from James Cameron about the Titanic once from the year 2001, shortly before the World Trade Center disaster. Is this it? Because I read 2003! Okay, my question has been answered. By 1:24:00.

Just finished re-watching the epic film because I have forgot some details of it after many years, and it still made me cry over the love story and the tragedy itself. Somehow Titanic is a victim of human's arrogance.

interesting how at 18:30 some features have next to no rust,while some are so completely destroyed from it. Different metals? Brass?

yeah everything iron is actually being eaten by sea bugs of some kind. it's not rusting so much as such, iron is being consumed by these microscopic bugs. so yeah brass fittings are unaffected.

*The whole Titanic saga is quite a paradox...let me explain* *We remember and know of titanic because of the loss of life and the tragedy that occurred...but it’s because of those events that the ship lives on. If anyone looks into these liners including Olympic...if they survived WW1 u-boats, they were ALL scrapped in the 1930’s leading up to WW2...air travel had become the new transatlantic transportation so these steamers were no longer needed. So if titanic didn’t hit the ice berg and the events that have become part of history didn’t happen...titanic would have been forgotten long ago and been scrapped like its sister in 1935, I think a lot of people would think that titanic would be some floating museum if it had never hit the ice berg..but the truth is, this was just a large ship and without the events of April 14 would be forgotten all together and we’d never been fascinated like we are with the wreck we can physically see and take artifacts from to this day*
