Male is Beachhead torso and arms. Commando snake eyes lower body. Female is all movie Scarletts body. Both with rubber overlays. As far as size? Both are middle of the pack for GI Joe classified. The shoulder armor makes them wider which makes them seem shorter.
I heard that these figures were originally from wave one of the line, which is why they don't have the best articulation . IMO Hasbro should've just had a 2 pak of the male trooper. For me the selling point of the set was the accessories .
I finally got them yesterday and I have to disagree with you. The female is not bad at all. Obviously we would all prefer she had a double elbow. I didn’t have the issue at the shoulder you did. I think it’s a great addition to the Joe line up.

I want the jet packs..probably will wait for this 2 pack to go on discount, not worth full price. Who would think a female with spread legs & big gap is not wanted. 😆
Yup, that female figure is trash. It's like Hasbro was punishing us for not buying those Snake Eyes Origin Movie figures. She uses the top part of the Movie Scarlet figure. Her bottom half is the over-used Lady Jaye figure. The single jointed arms are painful...and made doubly so by giving us the gummy joint. Half the time I try to pose her, I feel like I am going to break that arm off. She can't hold any of the large rifles. All she do is handle small arms because she can't articulate. I would rather have had two of the male figures. :(
