the OG GI Joe cartoon is one of the worst things ever made, just absolute garbage. Compare it to anime being made at the same time, it looks even worse. (same with Transformers... cool toys for the 80s, but the cartoons were god awful.)
Gen-X here, and this series was the first comic I started collecting as a kid, back in the mid-80's. It started the addiction, and I still have my run up to issue #60. I didn't know about this Kickstarter set. Will have to check it out.
Haven't watched the entire video so idk if Swaggie P mentioned this, but for anyone who is interested, they have announced a soft cover set of this to be released retail later this year/early next year.
Gen X’er here and that is my problem with nee modern day books. We drive the industry not these kids with different agendas being pushed by the Big 2. Btw, its a “compendium”. Great video btw.
Agenda? Like diversity and inclusion? Not sure way those are bad things. I'm sure back in the day some old timers didn't like GI Joe because they had black people and women on the Joes. The military shouldn't stand for that shouldn't they? To much of an agenda.smh🤦🏼♂️
Really excited to get mine. Recently, I looked at getting these in the comics and they were priced WAYYYY out of my range. Looked at the IDW hardcover reprints, even worse. Well worth the price and I cant wait!!!!
Comic books need to evolve into flexible oled screens possible followed by some iterations of new elements graphite carbon covers etc. Holographic pages. Think revise the gimmick covers of the 90s but .... in 8k per page
Thanks for bringing this to my attention; heard about it, but did not make a move. I believe retail sales numbers would likely triple the “backed” sales number-I’d like to own a set✌️
Gen-Z here, got myself a set. Though I'm a nerd and big hardbound collections of highly acclaimed comics on archival paper sold me pretty well. I think Skybound is kinda going for both demographics, sure most of gen z cannot get these compendiums at this price point, but Skybound is releasing them in a affordable softcover variant without all the bells and whistles thatll make these comics far more approachable for anyone who might want to read them. Plus Larry Hama is continuing his story under Skybound so anyone who wants to jump in and know whats going on who might not have grown up with the comics will now be able to. They're also doing a full reboot/remake with gijoe in the energon universe that's not really targeting a specific demographic just more so making good comics for whoever cares to read them.

The entire KS site has changed and it started with the board games Conan and Zombicide._* *_KS should just change their name to "FOMO"; because that's why we see these numbers. I belive it would cost $50,000 to kick-start the first edition of this set. But with 1,000%'s more brought in to this "charity" this just becomes one of the largest pre-orders in history; just lacking that name: pre-order._* *_KS is just more "pre-order" behaviour in the collector market, which sucks._* *_I have to buy my books 1-2 years in advance, I can't just get them in the store?_* *_Same goes for board games, tabletop roleplaying games, etc._* *_But there are a lot of KS only comic book releases? Why haven't they achieved any "great value"; because they are Modern? Is it because they were not sold in comic book shops?_*
Wait, did you ask "Why would you want to appeal to Gen Z?" I mean, that is business 101 considering that they are going to be around a lot longer than the boomers are.
