Carlo Maffeo vorrei dire che il suo Padre é un grande! Bellissima voce, frasseggio impoluto, meravigliosa tecnica di canto, musicalita incredibilmente belcantista. Mi fa siempre piangere di goia infinita
Deve essere molto fiero per il suo papa'!!! Esempio raro di vocalita' baritonale. Grande Artista. Conoscenza tipo "Stradivari" per la voce umana. Voce storica! Non so se l'umanita' tornera' a far nascere queste voci da "bottega" culturale inestimabile. Un abbraccio dalla Grecia!

La voce piu bella che o sentito mai di Baritono, un grande. Il frasseggio e meraviglioso cosi come gli acuti coperti di forma perfetta...la musicalita mi fa piangere di piacere. Bravo grande dei grandi
Je suis un grand Melomane et à vue à Wien, Milano, et Paris toute les Chanteurs. De la Callas,Simionato, Corelli, Bastianini,Christoff etc. Mais seulement un mois je découvert la belle voix de Gianni Maffeo. Quelle magnifique voix, vraiment très rare Christian
Il migliore baritono della seconda parte del Novecento (e non solo) degno di figurare fra i massimi cantanti del secolo. Misteriosamente trascurato dalla industria discografica. Personalmente lo considero il mio preferito in assoluto alla pari con Leonard Warren per completezza vocale e artistica.
Glorious! Simply glorious! Where has this man been? This is top notch singing. Perfect sound, technique, beauty, fraseggio. Today, what passes for ''baritone'' is laughable compared to this fantastic voice!
What? Was he captured by pirates or fell down a man hole? Why wasn't he a bigger name? Why were we listening to Mario Sereni all those years? This is the right sound. He has the snarl and bitterness for this character and of course the top notes.
Ma la voce di questi baritoni perché è sparita? Non nascono più cantanti di questo calibro? Qui siamo di fronte ad un monumento meraviglioso, queste sono le voci che vorremmo sentire oppure ci dovremo accontentare. Grande, grande, immensa voce!

che bellissima scoperta. io che amo la voce del baritono era a me totalmente sconosciuto. grazie a chi ha postato questa meraviglia. secondo me e' la piu' bella voce di baritono che abbia mai ascoltato. il compendio tra ruffo, bastianini, taddei , gobbi, campolonghi, warren, merrill, . e non dico altro. davvero "o monumento. bisognerebbe effettuare uno studio specifico sul perchè queste voci , questo timbro, questo colore sono spariti ( per non parlare dei tenori ) ..... per fortuna che esiste you tube.....
Thanks for sharing this neglected but phenomenal baritone. A beauty of tone of the absolutely highest level. So little is preserved of his lovely singing, but the complete Boheme with Karajan remains as well as his Supraphone recordings, from where this is taken, I reckon.

I need to admit that he is unknown to me. Why? Everybody focuses on Bastianini, Gobbi or Cappuccilli, but the name of this man never shows up in media.
Unfortunatly not the great voices were the most known as the best one´s for me Bastiannini, Maffeo, Proti.More recently Bruson,Capuccili but in another diferent dimencion .
