That's one of the nicest spits I have seen. Can't get over how big it is and nice it looks in the air. Well done on flying it so smoothly I think I would have the thumb shakes, with that one. Well done
Love that Spitty guys congratulations on acquiring her! Young Deano, excellent piloting of that beauty, sweet takeoffs, passes and landings, cracking flights! Pete, of course excellent camerawork and video and sure your proud of young Deano's performance! Two BIG full scale thumbs up from the Fred camp!
thanks fred, its a whole different ball game when you get to this size, thankfully mike has taken dean under his wing and is helping us both no end. yes m8 im well proud of im - he broke a prop on the second nose over and took it bad but as mike says you just gotta get on with it ! regards pete,
As ever, excellent video and flying from you guys, a pleasure to watch, and I can only but imagine the buzz you must have got from flying "Connie" Bet you are now looking forward to the next outing.
thanks chris, was a brilliant day with great weather to go with it ! hope you can make the next outing m8, deans looking forward to test flying your piss ugly skyraider - lol
Awesome video guys! That's a monster of a plane. I'm not fan of warbirds, personal preference, but this one sure was smooth in the air and it was a treat to watch.
I noticed this model has a 2 bladed propeller. What are the primary reasons for choosing between 2, 3, or 4 bladed propellers in these size RC aircraft. What, if any performance difference would one expect going from 2 blades to 3 (or 4)?
G'day Pete and Dean just like the real thing they were evidently hard to land because you couldn't see where the wheels were in relation to ground and take offs were tricky as well. You did alright Dean and what a lovely scale model she looked beautiful in the air especially the low passes great stuff! Regards John
+Topvideos1001 thanks, not sure if youve read the description but she was flown across the english channel in 2012 by the original owner / builder mike booth, she is seven years old so im guessing well over 60 flights by now ! regards pete,
+tbobborap1 OMG! that is an achievement in its self, I have only just found this and will look at more of the videos. Mike did a great job, that's for sure. Bernie.
Incredible.. such a stunning scale Spit! Superb flying skills too! I love WW2 Warbirds...but I have scale envy, my largest FMS Spitfire is only 1400mm wingspan I remember hearing about the Channel flight.. so this was 'the' Spitfire? Awesome job fellas!
Beautiful model and very well flown too congratulations Deano. It must be something else to fly a model of that calibre. Good to see some history of the model in the description too. Any links to stuff on the cross channel flight? I didn't think the French were too keen on that idea.
Way cool :) Is Deano going to fly warbirds now? Now he know how difficult it is to fly ... expecially how difficult the take off and landings of a Spitfire can be :) *THUMBS UP* ... Horst
thanks horst i am hoping to fly her at the shows maybe next season, i know how hard it is to fly them, especially landing lol, thanks for your comment. - deano
Cheers Pete - hard work! How can the wind be against you the whole time, and since when did Essex get so hilly? Hopefully we will have some decent weather next weekend for some formation Sea Fury fun fighter beat-ups!
pilots are judged by their landings. this landing was excellent, textbook perfect. a pity to see the nose-over during taxi, after such a great flight. for only 80cc, the 3w really pulls that plane. many thanks for posting this video.
many thanks rob, connie is a heavy girl but once the air speed is built up the 3w pulls her around well as you say, it seems that the u/c should come forward a little to help with the nose over problem but then she wouldnt be scale i suppose, regards dean,
Pete and deano, looks like you guys got yourselves a real purtty spit. She looks great in the air, very scale. Pete, is that you at the end flying her? I hear your voice an awfull lot but never see ya. Lol. Nice job boys.
hi steve, she flies really well and her only vice is a tendency to nose over with to much power, yes im the ugly bugger at the end with a stupid look on his face ! better off hearing my voice - lol,,
I never knew Mike flew his Spit across the Channel! Not sure how he could part with a model that did that! But she is obviously in good hands! Such a shame the photos and video from the crossing didn't come out well. Would love to have seen some nice shots over the water!
hi zeddy, the real spitfire has a 36 foot wing span which is 432 inchs, connie is 110 inchs, 432 divided by four equals 108 inchs so i guess that makes her as near quarter scale as damn it ! 1/6 scale would give connie a wingspan of 72 inchs which is the size of our 32cc yt international spitfie, connie has an 80cc 3w petrol in her so we wouldnt be able to fit that in a 1/6 scale model either, hope this clears it up - regards pete,
