I love how they're "10/10 friendly" towards us humans and 99.998% safe, yet, they look like the type of nightmare fuel crossover of an alien experiment gone wrong that eliminated their entire species on that planet and somehow landed on ours now. Doesn't add out.
Actually despite their common name, Camel spiders aren't in fact spiders... they're still a member of the arachnid family but they're actually what are known as solpugids under the solifugae order. They don't even have venom glands, and are very non aggressive to humans unless... like shown, they're put in a position where they feel they have no choice but to chomp down. When they say "they're more scared of you, than you are of it" this is the kind of animal they're talking about in truth.
Yeah but even though they’re creepy people shouldn’t hurt them. Ik u weren’t saying that but the point of this vid was to show they’re harmless and people kill things they’re scared of/don’t understand
I think it's actually really cool. I was terrified of spiders until I watched a bunch of very cute jumping spider content and now I see them differently. ❤
Jumping spiders Are Adorbs but IMAGINE if these GIANT ones could JUMP like them…….. I’d be Stroking out and Flinching all day eryyydayy I Used to be ALOT More afraid of spiders my whole life but I moved off grid during Covid mostly all of 2019 and had Brown Recluse hiding out in my cabins because of the Crazyyy storms that summer in NW Ontario Canada. I can’t bring myself to kill a spider because my fear is Irrational in that I assume I’m going to miss it and it’s going to jump or land on me and the heebie jeebies I get just thinking I’ll miss makes me instead Avoud and literally walk as far around it as quickly as possible and just stay away until it’s gone somewhere else lol I know, it’s Totalky irrational and hatdlyyy likely to happen but I also tell myself she’ll eat the skeeters and fruit flies etc sooooo let them live 🤷♀️
Nah, it's a sharp pinch from the jaws and it took some munching to break the skin. A bee or wasp sting will hurt more because the venom has evolved specifically to cause pain.
We call it شبث “shibath” here in the UAE, it was a nightmare for me when i was a child because of their incredible speed. Fun fact: they transport scorpions on their backs.
I don't get how people freak out over most spiders when there are centipedes, ticks and huntsman spiders that look like they came straight out of fallout.
@@ChristopherGray00 I mean this isn't a spider lol is a solifuges (commonly known as camel spiders or wind scorpions neither of which this arachnid is lol) i get your point but is kinda incorrect, and yes a giant centipede is much worse than any spider or pretty much any animal in general lol
Honestly, I have always feared these creatures, but after seeing this video and how he really didnt even want to bite you, he was just scared and wanted to get away, has really helped. Thank you!
The reason people are so scared of them is because it will chase you out in the open desert. But what they're actually trying to do is get into the shade that your Shadow is casting because it's so insanely hot in their habitat
@@red3direct991 just think of the opposite, they're probably seeking some kind of heat source as well, it can get close to or below freezing sometimes in the desert at night.
That's actually true. I had one behind me in afghanistan. I caught it. Was same size as the one in video. But it died a few days later. It wouldn't eat
These things will actually 'chase' you because they like to be in shadows. I know this fact, but if they come anywhere near me it's still getting stomped into the goddamn sand
Yes, the poor thing that is struggling to get away from him and didn't even want to bite him at first... and even when it did, it was just a warning pinch. Truly a horrifying creature.
Seems like the camel spider is more afraid of people if anything. It took a lot of provocation apparently because it just wanted to get away from the mysterious giant being.
I love how it keeps trying to crawl into his sleeve. They just has no cares about whether or not what they’re looking at is a home or not. They only care about if it’s dark.
1 hour later, there's still no pain or any effects 1 day later, I can stick to buildings with my bare fingers 2 days later, I can shoot webs through my wrist 3 days later, I have developed superhuman instincts
@@Epochal_Enigmas 6 days later I’m fighting one of my rival photographers who got possessed by an alien lifeform, the son of the guy I originally fought possessed by the same goblin (why do I bother) and a sandcastle that got out of hand
@@rooroo9216 7 days later, I fought alongside two other me's I didn't know even existed against an overpowered electrician, the original goblin I fought and tentacle man (both of which I thought already died but ok), huge green Mark Zuckerberg, and the shape-shifting sand sculpture (again).
The reason people are so scared of them is because it will chase you out in the open desert. But what they're actually trying to do is get into the shade that your Shadow is casting because it's so insanely hot in their habitat
It's interesting how much less threatening they become when you see them being held like this. They become so much more like just an animal, seeing how they move in relation to the hand, rather than being defined by their skittish quick movements you can't really follow on the ground.
When you’re laying on your cot and one of those little bastards scurries across the ground and into your duffel bag, it’s one of the most terrifying games of hide and go seek you’ve ever played
Or one falls from the thatch roof onto your stomach and then scurries off. I slept on the damn roof. Fuck the mortars, there’s a sand daemon in the hooch.
I remember being deployed and believing in all the tales/myths about the scary camel spider more than weapons of mass destruction in Iraq…weird both were wrong but the camel spider was passed on at the ground level and not fake news MSM. It took me like twenty mins to catch one at night. It took so long because it kept chasing me and I would retreat screaming like a little girl…later I found out it was just running for the biggest shadow under my HMMV and I was standing between him and it with a flash light. Catching that camel spider was literally my biggest accomplishment during the 8 months wasted on that stupid deployment. Side note they are scary as F looking and seem to breath heavily with sporadic long looking pubic hairs all over their bodies…apparently they just got a bad rap
The fact that you really had to force the camel spider to bite you just shows that they really do just want to mind their own business after getting in your shadow. Coupled with the fact that their bites barely do anything to you.
@@lilsand. yeah they are not classified as spiders since they don’t produce silk. The guy on different video said they are a spice between ants and spiders
@@lilsand. Nah, they are proper arachnids (ants are insects) and, honestly, ants are more dangerous, they have stingers with venom that may cause allergic reactions if not direct toxicity.
"i developed camelspider senses. i can basically tell you if something is sand or not and i know where all the shade is. that's...that's it. that's literally all i can do with my powers."
These things look terrifying but they’re fairly docile. They’ll chase you, but, it’s actually to get in the shadow you’re casting rather than trying to attack you.
Yeah, these critters are notorious for the insane speeds they can move at. Wind scorpions is a nickname I've heard for them and for good reason. I could be wrong but I think I remember reading that if these things were scaled up to human size they would be moving at like 50 mph. But that's hearsay so take it with a grain of salt, regardless these things are speed freaks. Totally harmless though.
This dude out here de-villainizing these creatures. Mad respect. I watched him interacting with one of these spiders in a different vid and he has shown me an actual cute side to these legends of terror. It's frikkin adorable the way he holds them.
This guy is really helping my fear of fanged insects. I used to think that they all just wanted to bite me but I’m starting to learn that even if I come close to them their last intention is to attack me
They are super cool to research on! Also fun fact they are not even spiders. And camel spider is a nickname. They are actually more related to scorpions. I can't remember their actual name but I do know it translates to "those who flee from the sun". Doing a research paper on them for zoology class was super fun.
Dispelling the fear, but you cannot undo millions of years of evolution and the self preservation knee-jerk reaction to creepy crawly skittering spiders
