The colours in the giant turtle were beautiful, and it turned out so well. And oh my goodness... I cannot believe the entry fee that you mentioned! I wonder how many handmade businesses would even break even with that cost 😮
Yeah, definitely! Some patterns that use basic shapes I think are okay, as there are only so many different variations you can do, but when it’s obvious it’s a direct copy of someone else’s work… so frustrating!😒
Huge amounts of money to join in on big festivals and omg I"m not surprised with the easter one. I had the opportunity to apply for a medieval fair up my way but it's a 3 day event (that you could even camp at) but I have a form of arthritis and I get chronic fatigue really bad and I just wouldn't last the 3 whole days and don't have any suitable friends or family to help me out on it. I'd love to do a comicon or something similar and it would be worth just being able to join in all the fun each day. Your turtle turned out great. I totally agree with all your rants especially the taking a percentage of sales, that's just bloody rude taking peoples profit. I'm trying to be careful about the patterns I buy because I got scammed for a cow pattern that was just simple copied in bits from lots of other patterns and then she didn't really even know how to do the bloody ears properly (it's the only pattern I wanted my money back for)
Yeah, I kinda get the massive show costing like 10 or 20k, but definitely not them taking a percentage also! Thanks so much!💛 Yeah, some stuff I guess people don’t realise it’s a copy, but when it is clear there was an original, even like the Mushroom pattern by chunky.crochet, you can tell so many people have used that basic pattern that was her original idea😒
Was not expecting to hear that you are local to me! That was a surprise 😂 It is a beautiful beach. I love the turtle! Looks amazing. If you ever want some suggestions on velvet yarn that is local and very good I'd be happy to share :)
Congrats on a big order! I’m a Coastie so not far from you :) I couldn't agree more about the patterns... The Leggy Frog is a great example.. It’s not right!
Don't undercharge for your work! Remember the time, expense of materials you put into them. It really adds up. Looking forward to seeing you guys in June!
