In this video I show you what happens when you pour liquid nitrogen on a giant neodymium magnet. I show you how you can increase eddy currents by decreasing the temperature and also how you can increase the strength of the magnet by deceasing the temperature.

For future reference, when cooling a large object with liquid nitrogen first cool it with dry ice. This saves a lot of liquid nitrogen and can reduce the thermal shock that may damage the object.

It will be interesting to see what effects does a magnet have on the weight of aluminum cylinder when the magnet is falling through it. Will it increase, stay the same or decrease. Interesting thing is when you lift the cylinder while the magnet is passing through it, the magnet also gets lifted. That leads me to believe that the weight will increase. If it doesn't or if the increase is less than the weight of the magnet then you have an anti gravity machine there.

That’s quite interesting about the properties of a neodymium becoming stronger with a drop in temperature. Back about 30 years ago I worked with ceramic magnets mounted to magnetic reed switches that worked as a low temp electrical cutoff switch. It’s was designed to open the reed switch contacts when the ambient temperature fell to around 32 deg F to prevent destruction of a synthetic rubber stop when impacted by a certain metal object in cold weather.

Yup, things also conduct electricity more efficiently the colder they are until they become superconductive, this means zero electricity is lost when transferring it through say a wire. If we can ever find a material that is superconductive at room temperature it would be world changing, the applications would be limitless and the new technologies it would create would be crazy.
