Always very entertaining these videos where a costly RC aircraft that has taken great efforts to build, prepare and bring to the airshow gets completely destroyed in a few seconds

The scale speed of that thing had to be around Mach 2

He's lucky it didn't crash into the crowd during that fly by.

After replaying the video a couple of times, my theory is that due to all the banking from side to side caused a lot of stress in the wing and therefore, caused it to rip apart. I may be wrong but that’s what I think happened.

LOL when the wing came off the crowd sounded like they were witnessing a real air disaster with actual people onboard.

Imagine if this was a real 747 full of passengers, imagine how terrifying it would be to spiral to the ground like that?

Such a tragic loss. I hope the victims families of this disaster can rebuild their lives and also rebuild said aircraft.

Even during the first fly-by I was thinking I would not be feeling too comfortable being in that crowd with that massive twitching RC plane flying that close and that fast.

He was flying that too fast..too aggressive....and too close to the Crowd...

While the cause of the crash is unknown, this is properly what happened: during a previous landing some parts of the right wing were damaged, which then caused those parts of the right wing to fly off mid flight causing an explosion which severely damaged the wing, which eventually ripped off which caused the plane to go into a violent spin which resulted in a crash, all 403 passengers and 13 crew members were killed, in one of the worst 747 accidents.

It’s scary how it looks real during the crash, it is only obvious that it is RC when the field comes into view

I love the herd initially scattering, and then all coming by to see what just fell out of the sky!

2:13 Brings it in like a friggin' Kamikaze. I'm surprised it stayed together as long as it did. Being able to own such a machine does not translate to being able to fly such a machine. Sad... such a spectacular model.

Compared to others I've seen, that looked fairly unstable for most of the flight.

Just after the flyby, at 2:23, you can see the right wing bent upwards slightly just near the inboard engine. The damage had already occurred by this point.

6 months prior to the flight. "Hey Fred, did you glue that wing spar?" "I think so."

This always makes me very sad, because these people just want to have a good time, and when their costly creation crashes, it just breaks my heart.

Well, typically the wing doesn't fall off like that! There are strict standards regarding the materials which can be used to construct these things. No cardboard, or cardboard-derivates, for example.

NTSB investigators were initially very excited when they thought they'd discovered the blackbox recorder, but unfortunately it later turned out to be just a piece of lego.

I had the chance to see this plane when it was in Perth Australia many years ago and it certainly put a smile on my 11 year old face sad to see it crash 😢

I'm sure it sucks big time for the builder/operator, but there's something satisfyingly realistic looking the way these RC aircraft come apart. Y'all gotta start putting telemetry FDRs (black boxes) onboard. Accelerometer, air speed, and altitude graph would look neat to see for the final 5-10 seconds of flight!

When it couldn't get itself on to the run way you should've know it was a bad sign. But then again we wouldn't have gotten this epic video.

While it was flying against the clouds, it looked like a full-size 747 going Mach2+.

The great thing about this hobby is that every thing will fit in plastic bag at the end of the day

The first break was the ego of the pilot. Huge shock for the cows who saw a UFO crash in their pasture. According to the farmer, the cows stopped producing milk from the intense shock.

Under constructed, overpowered, and inexperienced to fly this behemoth... not only put the cows in danger but potentially puts the spectators at risk too.

As a 40+ year RC plane/heli guy, I remember going to a public event at a local field and seeing a large scale turbine go straight in. Tens of thousands in hours and $$ reduced to a smoking hole. But what hit me was the crowd erupted into cheers. "COOL" and "That was awesome." I mean face it, its why we clicked on this video. Sucks to be him huh?

I'm just glad none of the animals in the field were harmed...................................

That dicey flyby could have resulted in one of the weirdest airshow disasters ever.

The 'pilot' was trying to show off in front of a crowd, when only a cautious approach was warranted.

The Matchbox Fire Department was as brave as ever that day.

It was caused by a wingstrike from a previous flight. it made cracks around the damaged wing and the maintenance engineers never detected it. the cracks got bigger and bigger until it damaged a flap which caused half of the wing to break apart. Then it plummeted down to a field of cattles. The investigators theorised that it may be caused from a fatal birdstrike or a bomb.

When I was younger I crashed a plane maybe half this size (my friends brothers plane) into a Chevrolet dealership...but the ass whipping we took was better suited for crashing a real plane🤣🤣

The reason it broke is obvious, just imagine a real 747 flying like mach 3.

on 2020 august 22nd, boieng 747 was departing from brazilian airport in coasta rica to british heathhrow airport. then all of a sudden a flock of geese were flying infront of the airliner , in a moment the geese got sucked into the engine causing engine failiure,leading to the g force braking the wing of from amounts of closed cabin pressure. all 467 passengers including the two pilots lost thier lives due to a fatal and terrifiying crash one survivor thats was in the back survived and has lost his limb and has long term ptsd to this day

I feel like this should be a demonstration for the dangers of overspeed.
