Fast and thrilling! Keeping that F-104 in the frame, at speed, and panning in to get close shots is an incredible task - but done and done exceptionally well! I thoroughly enjoyed that demonstration!
It's totally amazing to see this aircraft on the ground but even more so in the air! At a distance, it looks like the prototype and it moves like the prototype while in the hands of an experienced pilot. Congrats and thanks for the thrill of watching and listening to this incredible RC model!
I saw these flying over Eglin Air Force Base in Florida every day when I was young. I saw F-80's, F-86's, F-105's, F-100's, and many more when they were our front-line fighter jets. They were state of the art planes too.
That is an awesome airplane, and well-flown (and well-filmed as always). It did look a little "squirrelly" though, little bit of snaking here and there. Turbulent weather or just a very challenging plane to fly? Also, can we watch the video from the drone during landing? That probably looks very cool too.
Really beautiful aircraft. I realize it was called the widowmaker. Just wondered if it was the 104 performing those sonic booms beginning of the 70’s which made the windows of my grandparents rattle?
The Luftwaffe pilots as a whole didn’t care for their 104’s. They considered it a widowmaker aircraft. High landing speeds and it will not tolerate operating outside a very definitive performance envelope. However in the hands of an expert pilot it could be an effective platform for interdicting enemy aircraft.
