The amount of thought and Engineering that has gone into this ergonomic bike, but they didn't use a handlebar with more backsweep? Huh? Still looks super comfy though.
I purchased a dx back in 06 or 07. The dealer was selling them at a massive discount so I picked one up for the novelty. It's a unicorn for sure. The issue I ran into was when I took it to a bike shop, the mechanics were absolutely clueless on how to work on it. Took them forever to tune it up and put new tires on it.
I had one of these years ago, and as this guy says you can't stand up to use your weight to help with steep hills, so best if you live in a flatter environment so as to remain seated. Apart from that one set back I really enjoyed riding it.
I have one -- for about 20 years and I LOVE it! The problem is that I have developed severe osteoarthritis in my left hip and I can't ride anymore! I'm now considering an ebike but I would love to convert my revive into an eBike -- not sure if that is possible.
A very nice copy, in excellent condition. I have this Giant model. It is an interesting idea, but a lot of gadgets and oversized frame profiles weigh half as much. One wheel of this bike weighs probably 5 kilograms. These fabulous-looking plastic inserts are screwed together with strong stainless steel screws and sleeves. This adds a lot to the weight of this bike. Also the rear swing arm is so powerfully built, as if it were a motorcycle and not a bicycle - completely unnecessary. I have back problems, so this bike is a sure solution to my back pain and numbness in my shoulders and arms. However, its very large mass makes it difficult to drive further or uphill. I am planning a whole series of modifications for my copy. 1. Removing the wheel inserts, including the bolts, to relieve the load on the wheels. 2. Removing additional chain guide wheels. This solution is intended to raise the chain so that it fits within the outline of the cover. Unfortunately, this significantly increases rolling resistance, so it will be dismantled. 3. Installing a larger sprocket at the rear. It's not a racing bike, and 7 gears for the Nexus 7 are too few to climb effectively. This has to be compensated by changing the final drive ratio. 4. Installation of pedals on cartridge bearings - lower rolling resistance. 5. Installation of a new bottom bracket on solid cartridge bearings. 6. Replacing Inter roller brakes with newer Alivio ones, with a large radiator. 7. Installing a larger front wheel for more stable cornering. Only then will you be able to drive this invention further
