The thing I like about Patrick's video's is that he comes across real and natural. You're walking along with a neighbor and he's giving you his honest thoughts about things he knows about...no agenda, no condescending attitude, no pretense. I like that, and I would rather watch this than all the crud on TV any day...anytime. Speaking of restorations, any news on that front? The Fordson?
The Fordson is a long term video. Unfortunately a lot of footage got deleted before upload of “part 1.” Currently it has been pressure washed, partly disassembled, sanded, & primed. As for my commentaries: They are all just off the cuff whatever I’m thinking. MOST of what I tell the camera doesn’t make the end video. Auction videos start out around 40-50 minutes and get edited down to 20. Farming videos start out at 27-33 minutes and get cut down to 10-12
Very enjoyable video as always! Your son has that universal toddler talk sound that I miss so much. My youngest son is now seven. My oldest is 31 with four in between. I loved watching his hands go over every knob, button and lever he could reach!
Another good video, especially with "real time commentary" provided by your boy. Iron City is about 50 miles away from our location. I was amazed at how low the selling prices were compared to the recent dealership options I've considered. For instance a F/NH 4020 with 600 hrs. (4-wd/R4's) recently sold for $17,000.00 (and I was "almost" the buyer, even at that price due to low hours...) Newcomers to the industry need to be aware that it's just as possible to buy "too much" tractor as it is to buy "not enough" tractor. 4wd is great, but one must be aware that their turning radius is longer than an equivalent 2-wd model; an important factor on small holdings. I've sub'bed to your channel. Keep up the good work!
He’s a double handful. Most of his speaking parts were edited out of this video as he has no volume control and doesn’t mind interrupting my explanations.
Your little Boy sure liked that case corn head !!!! Awesome video great prices that case 75 for 19.5 was a steal. Heck jd charges that for a zero turn lawnmower now.
You do a great job showing different things. And having Mercer tag along reminds me of when mine were little and I hauled them along to market (no, I DIDN'T sell them!) or other farm stuff.
Your boss sure had alot to talk about😅 I think he said, Dad..If you like articulating tractors, maybe we should get a Big Bud! Love your channel, from Alberta canada
I would love to see a Big Bud in person, especially the new model they just re-launched. I’ve seen many videos of them. Articulating and track tractors are almost as rare as Yetis (the animal not the ice chest brand) in the south.
@@PatrickShivers seen several here over the decades on big acres. Montana just south of us. Massive unit's pulling big iron. Haven't seen any new ones, though look like beast's!
hey patrick ,i farm with my son in south ga and been watching you for a year or so now. i know your a die hard deere guy like many of my friends. i was raised on red but have run a fair share of green equipment.. we still run the box car magnums. it was good to see you at least mention one ..but hate that it looked to be rough and not been took care of. One that had been took care of would have brought double that price
we over here south of tifton around lenox ga. we running 4 still. Three are the 71 series and one is the 72 series. The 89 series was the last. @@PatrickShivers
Mercer trying tell u dad buy the red tractors and keep all the sick green tractors in the barn. Lol. Enjoy watching the video of you and your son. Keep them coming. 👍👍
It was a light drizzle that morning & a substantial rain the day before, that’s why they had the tent. I far more prefer the truck even if it’s raining
That Deere 4WD is a sugar babe, it came from Clewiston, short axles give it away. Neighbors used a rental 8130 one fall during peanut season that came from US Sugar that came with short axles and 20.8 tires. 6110M probably came off a produce farm. Seems like every big produce farm has a fleet of those open cab M's Surprised Fords are rare in your area. Ain't many left here, but at one time we were covered up with them around here. Our Ford dealer in the 70's was one of the highest sellers in the country for Ford. Still a decent number of them left. Sure looks like they took a beating on equipment. Sprayers look like they went cheap. Those pickers and that stalk puller, that was a heck of a deal if you were a buyer.
With the Deutz Fahr you can program the buttons at your fingertips. You also miss some things looks like in that particular cab...Is because you didn't get instruction on how to use the machine. If you never more instructions and explanation; you'll start to understand, and love, the machine. The turning circle is so tight. Great views around and build by true Germans.
I would love to run one all day and learn more about them. They are so rare around here that I have only seen 1 other modern Deutz and 3 from the 1970s
@@PatrickShivers sounds like lean times here for farmers. I grew up on a farm in the 70s and 80s, remember the farm crisis, which we are in the same age range and I'm sure you may have memories. My father had to quit, but retained his land. Msny others were not as fortunate. I hope we never see that again.
Kudos to you for taking Mercer and filming for us! You had your hands full! 😂 Someone stole that stalk puller! I know there’s not much want for a 4 row, but still, that was cheap. And I’m sure there was a lot of those tractors that came from south Florida. Was that the auction between Donalsonville and Bainbridge?
I was at this auction iron city? Man those red tractors was cheap and those Colombo peanut pickers was cheap last year we bought a semi and hopper bottom and a grain auger
@@PatrickShivers The M7 is all Kubota designed. Kubota 6.1 4 cylinder, ZF transmission, I think maybe ZF axles as well, French built. The M8 is the same thing as the Versatile Nemesis you looked at at the Expo except for Kubota controllers in the cab. I don't think Kubota is still marketing that series, QC bit them in the butt. Story I was told was Kubota was partnering with Versatile as a possible merger prospect and that fell through. Pretty sure Versatile is a dead company walking at this point, AGCO might buy the articulated tractor line but I can't see the company lasting much longer. Rumor mill now is Kubota is looking as a possible partnership with Deutz for their larger models, but that is just the rumor mill for the time being. I know Southern Tractor (Kubota dealer Moultrie) has taken on Deutz, so there may be some validity to it. The tractor lines look like they would complement each other very well.
Those John Deeres what i seen there they where expensive we farm on the other side of the river at the Decatur Grady line We are mostly red to we cant afford no green
Some of those prices indicate there might be some financial stress in the local marketplace. Have heard some items are not meeting reserve at some delta area auctions.
I have 3 previous auction videos up from earlier this season. In some of those I touch on that issue. Planters, strip-tills, bedders, and tillage equipment are going for rock bottom prices. Big pieces of equipment such as combines, cotton pickers, and 300hp tractors are no-selling frequently
I’ve been told by multiple people (including my wife) that I created him by myself without input from my wife😂😂. One guy asked if I just spit him out of my mouth.🤣
@@brandonthomas-xg4no I posted 2 videos from that sale this year (and 2 last year also). The Deanco Headland sale is one of my favorite events of the entire year. More junk there than at any other sale anywhere.
I am bias towards the 4960. I believe it to be one of the best tractors ever made. I have several videos of me using one and laying out why. The interior of that boxcar was better though.
@@PatrickShivers The 8940 and 50 have electrical problems bad on the lift they want draft the a/c are no good low power and ride rough and the dealership that we had at the time could not fix anything on it
