Saying they can fly is a bit of an exaggeration, many spiders drift, float, or simply get blown around on air currents, some do it purposely using their web. I believe they were going for the sensationalism of such a thing. This is know as yellow journalism.
actually i promise you wouldn't. apparently you aren't aware of godzillas meaning or significance to japan. godzilla was created after ww2, it was absolutely nothing but their artistic representation for what they viewed we did to them, why else do you think he often has atomic breathe?...he's their icon for American war and destruction.
Eh... been living with Brown Recluse and Black Widow Spiders. They don't have an endless supply of venom so they try really hard not to waste it on biting humans. Bites to humans happen when they accidentally press down on the spider while reaching for something. Oh and lots of baby spiders can "fly". They sail through the air on webbing that is how they spread and find new homes.
We seen one at a pumpkin farm and we thought it was a prop. We walked up and just stared at it and then it started moving. We all just stood transfixed and in unison said "OMG that is a huge spider" Then we watched people just walk right near it and I said these people think this web and spider is a decoration. I was bitten by a brown recluse on my face and I've accidentally eaten a daddy long leg. I've looked Joros in the face ... It knows my name.
This is not a garden spider. They do not fly and they are no more venomous than a garden spider. They are native to Asia and came here in produce shipments. Look at the Joro spider and a garden spider side by side and you'll see the obvious differences.
Pretty sure that is the same spider that was everywhere in North Carolina when I grew up. We called them a writing spider. If you said anyone's name around them, they would write your name in their web and then come get you that night.
@@UngiftedBaskettiBall I was wondering if they're the same as writing spiders. Omgosh those things are huge and so are the webs! I guess different parts of the state call them different things.
@@UngiftedBaskettiBall Ok I just googled banana/writing spiders and they look alike but they are different than Joro spiders. Learn something new every day. The writing spider I saw was big enough but not 4 inches! 😳
Down south we call them writing spiders. I believe these are the same thing. Only thing that is annoying is they don’t seem to be scared of people like most spiders. If they land on you they just chill on your cap , shoulder etc.
They keep making big giant spider movies and there’s a huge conspiracy theory about ancient giant spiders frozen in Antarctica. Now the giant spider “theme” has made the news ? 🤔
*They do not fly good grief!* The only thing more annoying than clickbait is always telling everyone to subscribe to the channel as if people does not know how to click on the stupid [subscribe] button.
I'm from Georgia and we have been seeing a ton of these things this last few years especiallylast year. These things sure know how to populate quickly. I work at an outdoor paintball field including a paintball field in the woods and we had hundreds and hundreds of these spiders all over the place in our woods and around our shop last year. Even at my house I've been starting to see these things grow in numbers, and yeah, these things get pretty big but I think they're cool looking LOL
Don't watch the movie Arachnophobia after seeing these spiders or it would make you more afraid but they are more dangerous and scary looking spiders than these Joros.
Kingdom Of The Spider's is a good old movie to watch...70's cheese Of a movie but a classic... not the same kind of Spider's but still crazy and cool...
Last year had a spider like that making web and egg sack under my gazebo I kept moving her to far back yard but a day or two later she was back under gazebo. This year no sign of her.
They're all over the perimeter of my house in GA and KSAW mountain is an arachnophobes nightmare, but the reduction of pests I've seen in my house from last year to now is dramatic. The Gnats were god awful last year. If they keep the pest levels down, I'll let them chill as long as I don't walk into a nest on a path. Plus they'll all thin out in the colder months. Here when I need them, gone when I don't.
I’m never going outside again. Imagine walking into that web and having one of those things crawling on you. I can handle having my black widows at my house but this is too much.
Black Widow bites are way worse. These things venom isn't strong. Black Widows, as we know are docile. These use webs to "fly" or get around. Harmless honestly
Oh great - this is just a death sentence for the native big orb spiders these arrivals resemble that have lived there forever. And no matter how "Big" a spider is I have yet to see one anywhere near the size of a human, so they really don't want to waste any venom on us that could deprive them of a bug meal. Relax people. This is a non-threat.
Ok I just saw a movie, can’t remember the name where the star of the movies mom died from a spider Bite in the Amazon and one of lines was this exact line.
