I’m not sure what’s more impressive, that something that big is able to move that fast in the water, or that there are humans with enough balls to get that close to a creature that big. I get butterflies in my stomach from behind the screen, I cannot imagine being there in person. Absolutely incredible creatures.

Whales can speak, especially sperm whales. Their communication is showing itself to be much more sophisticated than our own. Not to mention their massive brain size, combined with their extremely large and developed regions of the brain responsible for conscious thought, and speech. They even have different dialects. Scary to think but as research progresses, it’s starting to look like they are much more intelligent than humans, with their body anatomy being their limiting factor of course.

I was on a cruise ship going to The Cayman Islands. It was March of 2009 and I will never forget this one particular night. It was super late like 3 in the morning and I was the only one out on the dock at this moment. Millions of stars filled the sky and reflected on the sea. It was calm and quiet. Suddenly I heard the soft call of a whale in the distance, I rushed to the side of the ship to look in the direction of where the sound came from. I stared for what felt like hours waiting for something to happen. Then I heard it again and saw the massive blue whale slowly appear above the water before disappearing beneath the sea. It was the most magical moment of my life.

"Out of nowhere". She knew where you were. There was a time when whales avoided humans as we hunted and killed whales. The only species to do so. But humans have changed their ways in regards to the whale. Now we help them and they know that, they seek out humans to help them, which is inCREDible. The more intelligent of the animal kingdom do help one another in danger. How awesome that the whale recognizes humans as their helpers and "friend" - no longer the enemy. Absolutely beautiful Great video!

The craziest thing to me is that they're mammals... which means their ancestors evolved on land. Really puts time into perspective

Not a chance he could have been swallowed. Whales have huge mouths. But their throats are really small and couldn’t swallow anything bigger than a grapefruit that’s why they feast on really small fish such as sardines . In fact their throats are roughly the size of an adult human fist. But ye even if he had of been taken inside the mouth of the whale temporarily that would have been incredibly scary.

So no one is afraid that the whale will accidentally “come out of nowhere” and plop right on top of them?!?! Then what?!?! I know this is nature and we should enjoy it, but certain things in nature should just be respected and left alone. I love that I can see the whales because I love whales so much but I could never get that close.
