delta(s) = 2*NO-N2-O2 = 2*(210)-191.5-210.62= 24.74

So helpful! I learned more in this 5 min video than I have in 2.5 weeks of physical chemistry. 😅 thanks!!

STP = 273K, or 0 degrees Celsius, 32 degrees Fahrenheit RTP = 298K, or 25 degrees Celsius, 77 degrees Fahrenheit

STP is 0 C, therefore 273 K and not 298 K (which is RTP)

Why is it that my answer in entropy is 24.74? Thats product - reactant right?

Maryland Devin: but the standard in Celsius is 25 not 0 Celsius, so 25 + 273 = 298K I hope this is helpful.

What if the problem does not give you any type of temperature or does not specify that it is at STP? Do I just assume that it is?
@stephaniem.3868
@stephaniem.3868 5 лет назад
Cj Maestas yes. Just make sure you state your assumption.

STP is 273 Kelvin and 1 atm. I have no idea where the 298 Kelvin came from

when i just have Temperature how can i calculate free enthalpy?
@caseyrichardson9839
@caseyrichardson9839 8 лет назад
STP is definitly not 298K. STP is 273K NTP is 298 K Would be a lot more helpful if the information was right from the start
@Murfylaw
@Murfylaw 11 лет назад
I think it is 298K. 273K is roughly 0 degrees Celsius, whereas 298K is roughly 25 degrees Celsius.

Delta g should actually be in kj not J
@yujinj2903
@yujinj2903 8 лет назад
What do I do if it doesn't tell me the temp? It doesn't say it's at equilibrium or STP or anything of that sort. It just gives me two reference charts without a temp.
@tylerjanssen7535
@tylerjanssen7535 8 лет назад
+Jack T Assume it is at STP, if there is no indication of any other temperature, STP is the best to assume.

when your finding delta S why don't you multiply the NO delta S by 2 moles like you did when finding Delta H
@MarkDoesYoutube
@MarkDoesYoutube 9 лет назад
Charles Ash Its wrong, you should multiply by 2 moles for Entropy too
@clarelove3738
@clarelove3738 9 лет назад
K= 1 ?? where did you get that from ?
@aftonhughes4581
@aftonhughes4581 9 лет назад
He explains that when K=1, it makes the right hand side equal to 0 because log(1)=0. A reaction that is in equilibrium should have (delta G)=0. If delta G were any other value, the reaction would not be in equilibrium, but rather still in the process of achieving equilibrium.

your entropy # is wrong should be 24.74 but if im wrong please explain why. I took 2 x 210.62 - 205 - 191.5 = 24.74
