This video will show you how to create a simple 3-Axis Mill Simulation model.
A good start point for creating your own Machine Simulation for your own machine.

Thanks for taking the time to make this great video. I'm learning a lot from your videos. Now let me think about my next request 😂

You need to make sure you choose a 4-axis vertical mill when programming. If you choose a 3-axis mill you will not be able to program the 4th axis.
@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials

You are correct, but my example is only for a 3-axis mill, not a 4th axis mill. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for producing this video. If you run out of topics to discuss, could you go over how the settings in the MDD can affect your posted code? I fought with a 5axis machine for over five years with the post department, only to find out that the post wasn’t working because the MDD wasn’t set correctly and the post department failed to recognize it. I am afraid that they are many more Gibbs users like me that are out there. The problem with the MDD was in the inter-op events and it was missed because this post never had a proper machine sim built for it. Gibbs should have never allowed this to happen.
@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 6 месяцев назад
Thanks for letting me know. I will have to look into this further, and go over how the inter-ops works. Within the last few years Gibbs has put out what they call "Master" posts, that will have all the necessary inter-ops and other features in the MDD, and then is usually what they start with when creating a post for a customer. Thanks for watching.

@@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials thanks for your response. I will say I have been seeing improvements to the post edits in the last year or two. Know when I get my post back, I get a document about stating the changes that have been made.
@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 6 месяцев назад
Yes, they started doing that this year so customers know what was changed/requested, whereas before we had to open up the guts of the post to read all the notes.@@cncmilljunkie

Have you got a movie for defining a 5 or 6 axis machine(a MillTurn machine like WFL machines) in GibbsCam for simulation and post processing?
@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 5 месяцев назад
Sorry, I do not. I have not made one. Doing a 5-axis simulation sim would take a very long time. Just like this one here, you can start with a 5-axis machine in Gibbs then clone it for your own machine, then start importing the models and start to "tweak" everything to work correctly, and then you would need to test the rotations, etc on a real machine to see if the rotations are all correct. Thanks for watching.

how to get the machine in the right orientation becauce we i load the machine it show just X and Y axes and those axes are wrong in orientation
@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 7 месяцев назад
If you are using the machine I set up, make sure your Machine is a 3-axis vertical mill, then import the model. If the last time you used Gibbs, and had it set to a horizontal mill, or something else Gibbs will import the model into that machine. Always start a new bland file, choose a 3-axis vertical mill, then import the machine model. Hope this helps.

What are your background gradient colour settings? Tried to change mine to something lighter but couldn’t get a good contrast. Thanks

Click on this link below to get my color scheme. www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/n4qxmqsr4bde8w2pyy8kt/look10.xml?rlkey=zmpncmjt0pi5qdc4vfzvn4pfm&dl=0 Close Gibbs. Put it in this folder... c:/Users/yourname/AppData/Roaming/Cambrio/GibbsCAM/24.0.54/DisplayPreferences Re-open Gibbs, then go to Preferences, Display, then on the right, click the dropdown menu and choose the new name in the list, then your new colors will appear. You can also click the drop down for Op/Tool Sim or Machine Sim if you want those colors there as well. Good luck!

Why do you not set the Z and Y axis rails and stop as part of the base since they don't move, same goes for the belt, pulley, etc. for the Z axis? Also I see no need for the X axis screw, motor, etc. to be separate bodies. This is all just a bunch of wasted time that does absolutely nothing.
@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 5 месяцев назад
You are correct that we can combine bodies as needed. This is just a sample on how to do it. It is YOUR choice on what you want to combine or keep as separate. Just an example. Calm down. Thanks for watching though.
@Mochinist-bk6yj
@Mochinist-bk6yj 5 месяцев назад
@@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials Calm down? People could see how to do it after the first 2 bodies. An additional 10+ minutes were wasted on parts that absolutely do not matter. There's so many things that could have been covered instead. I followed this tutorial to the letter which was a bit different than what I experienced on my end (V24.0.60) and there's still several things that don't work right. When I run the machine sim on a part. I set the POV lock correctly and make sure everything is set to visible yet the table and Y axis does not show up and no matter what options I choose the Z axis moves in and out on the Y axis (and correctly on the Z axis) The bodies ARE in the correct folders in the machine manager and the coordinates are setup correctly. Everything behaves fine in the Test Machine tab with the sliders.

@@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials I loaded your tutorial model and was getting the same result. So I started looking into why this was happening and found that in the document control under the machine tab that it was still set to the regular 3-axis mill rather than the correct sim machine. Changing that fix all the movement issues and everything behaves correctly now.
@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials
@GibbsCAMVideoTutorials 5 месяцев назад
@@Mochinist-bk6yj Glad you got it working. Remember when you run Machine sim, you need to fill out the lower portion of the Document Control section. The numbers that go in there are from your origin of your part to the center of the table that was set up in the MDD. The Z would be from the bottom of your vise to your origin. This would be a positive number. This will move your part up.
