I used to have a 1951 ES-175. Mine was Sunburst. It's was a rather dark sounding guitar. I like the crisp tones this Blonde delivered.

Man, that thing is CLEAN. What?! 👌🏻 I really like that slimmer bodied one in sunburst. The ES-225 I believe it’s called, but the one with two pickups. Wicked cool.

It is my sincerest hope that some kid-even just ONE-comes across this video, or another GotD like it, and from that moment forward veers away from the craptacular ‘music’ his or her peers are listening to and becomes someone who learns to love the truly great, timeless stuff. Someone who demands artistic integrity and appreciates virtuosity. Ahem…sorry for the ‘Sam the Eagle’ pontificating.

Lovely tones. Also love that Florentine cutaway. I have a 175-style thinline by 'The Loar' LH-302T (twin pups) which I adore. (So I suppose it's more of a 225-style?) I've been thinking of restringing with tapewound. This demo convinced me.It sounded almost as if a touch of shimmer was added towards the end - very well done. Great job. Great guitar. Great find by Norm.

Do you suppose that when all of the boomers are gone the bottom will fall out of the vintage guitar market?
@ezerlab1
@ezerlab1 Год назад
Every time you bend a string a boomer guitarist gets his wings!
@HenrySchecker
@HenrySchecker Год назад
New boomers are being made all the time. Now people born in 1990 are paying ridiculous prices for 1980 guitars. And the guitars that are even older become "holy" objects that appreciate even more. And as guitar music becomes more niche only the real psychopaths are left that will pay literally ANY price. I doubt the bottom will fall out. Eventually buying a guitar will become a niche luxury item and only the super wealthy hobbyists will buy guitars. Everyone else will play squier and epiphone which will be $700-$1000 anyway. Whatever the case theres a dark future ahead of us. Buy up whatever you can afford now cause prices will never drop again
@HenrySchecker
@HenrySchecker Год назад
Squier will lease guitars as part of Fender Play and you'll never own your instrument outright. They'll offer it as a payment plan to parents who are afraid their kids won't follow through and stick with it. "Sign up today for a year of Fender Play and recieve a Squier Starter Pack with everything your little rockstar needs get shredding"

Hard to say… world population continues to increase along with disposable income so probably not. It might decline however as music tastes change. Vintage demand tends to be nostalgic and linked to what is current. People aren’t overly interested in musical instruments from say 1900 to 1940 because we have fewer links to those times and that music. When few people know the name Eric Clapton the demand for bursts will be less.
