So glad I bought a Les Paul Traditional in 2012. Good year for Les Pauls.
@MrNitrocat
@MrNitrocat 10 лет назад
There isn't one thing "Traditional" about this guitar! Fugly logo, brass nut and ffs that damned tuning system 99% of Gibson customers DON'T want...And a neck size that is better suited to a classical guitar then a Les Paul. Oh and let's not forget another huge price increase! Henry J. has either lost his mind or is trying to put Gibson out of business...As stated on the Gibson site I'll be looking at another brand until Gibson pulls their heads out. Absolutely the most horrid line up I've EVER seen from Gibson.
@Gruhak
@Gruhak 10 лет назад
I agree, but i think that the brass/zero fret is the best feature they introduced in years.
@MrNitrocat
@MrNitrocat 10 лет назад
We are Gruhak You could be right. I honestly don't have experience with the brass nut. I understand the issues of the old nut. I'm lucky enough to own quite a few Les Paul's, so I am definitely familiar with the click, ping when tuning the G, B strings lol. It's just a shame that while the new nut may indeed be a great thing, there are so many negatives with the new line up, in my opinion, I probably won't know unless it's from playing someone else's that has it :( I just can't get past the new logo, don't care for the wider neck and most of all the tuning system...I could even deal with a price increase, although I feel they went overboard on that too. Hopefully in 2016 we'll see a return to a REAL Traditional Les Paul.
@Gruhak
@Gruhak 10 лет назад
Oh i am not justifying Gibson, and as much as i like the idea of a zero fret, it's not really something ground breaking. I mean, it's been done for decades. The new electronics could be a good thing, i guess it depends on the player/buyer. The tuning system really bugs me, firstly because it's not optional. I already imagine people buying the guitar and taking the thing of and replacing it with a set of Klusons. The price also, they are entering the boutiqe market price, and for what.....I think that a real traditional les paul will be easier to find trough some other brands, or ghost builders.
@MrNitrocat
@MrNitrocat 10 лет назад
We are Gruhak The robotic tuners are my biggest beef to be sure. I agree they should be optional! After all the complaints about the SG standard coming with them, you would think Gibson would of learned. But here we are with them being G force-d down our throats lol. Definitely, those that can get past the logo and neck, can take them off. But here we are with a price hike, add the cost of a set of Klusons or Grovers and you are correct, we are getting close to the price of a boutique guitar...such a shame. I do have a boutique that years ago cost me over 4k, but was hand built to my exact specs. I never thought I'd see the day when a USA LP (standard) would be close in price to that! I have some pics of a few of my Les Pauls on the Gibson forums USA/Les Paul, topic, "show us your les paul guitars" on page 4, posted under nitrocat98. By the way some great jams on your channel.

What the hell gibson! It's terrible it's like putting a big plastic bench spoiler or a vintage corvette. the only thing I like is the scratch plate, the brass nut should be optional and the les paul logo looks like it was designed by an alcoholic child who's broke his writing hand so he's using the other. The g force makes it look like a toy! And so does the hologram. I don't think you have to worry about Chinese fakes anymore even they wouldn't recreate this crap!

How do you call this a traditional with that stupid tuning system. What's wrong with learning how to tune your friggin guitar?! Nice job screwing up a classic Gibson! This is what happens when engineers get a hold of a company and invent solutions to a bunch of problems that never even existed in the first place! Idiots! Blinking lights on a Les Paul? What are we trying out for the Blue Man Group? WTF guys? If I go to the grocery store to buy an apple and all they have are plums guess what??? I'm going to a different store!!
@zzHackedTutorialzz
@zzHackedTutorialzz 9 лет назад
1. If u need robotic tuners to tune, then you shouldn't be buying a Gibson.They are stupid. 2. The Les Paul logo looks like it was drawn on by a 5 year old with a gold crayon. 3. There is no problem with a regular nut, so why throw on an ugly useless brass nut? This certainly isn't a 'traditional' guitar and whoever has been in-charge of the design (Henry J I presume) should get fired. The 2014 model was almost perfect besides the dumb 120th anniversary logo inlayed onto the 12th fret.

I have some ideas for 2016.... Keep all of the new cool and amazing non-traditional features but let's add some coil-tapping/ splitting (can you split and tap a coil?), a phase switch, the led's that light up in the fret board to tell you where your fingers go (props if you have numbers for your fingers instead of just a light), some EMG's (doesn't matter which ones Les Paul people won't know the difference) and have a headstock inlay that says the Super Exclusive Tribute to Les Paul's Potential 101st Birthday then you should have a guitar everyone loves. Remember to still call it a Traditional or traditional Les Paul lovers won't be interested. By making the 2015 Traditional you've already proven you think they are stupid, let's run with it. List Price $27,000 sale price $26,850..... 2017 add a coffee maker, bottle opener, ginzu knife attachment and have it come with the dirt and seeds to make the headstock a Chia pet but in the likeness of Les Paul.... I should design guitars for a living.

I'm glad there are a lot of used LP's in the world. None of the new glam on this model does anything for me. I have a 2011 LP Traditional. Plug in, play, enjoy...and it was $2,200 new at GC. Used ones like mine are going for about $1,700 now. I'd rather have another 2011 over the 2015. I can tune my own guitars quickly enough.

Have one of these and love it. Changed out the nut and gforce and prefer the thicker neck as it makes barre chords a hell of a lot easier imo. The MOP inlays are a nice touch and the headstock logo is a nice show of respect (could do without the 100 though) great guitar but can definitely understand the hate

They finally did it. They killed the cool appeal of the Gibson Les Paul. What in the hell are they doing over there? All I can picture is a bunch of guys in suits sitting in a board room voting and approving all these terrible ideas. Innovation is one thing but snap on snap off pickguards and pictures of Les Paul on the headstock? Why??????? I never wanted to afford a Gibson LP before, Now I think they suck.
@TheBaconNerd
@TheBaconNerd 10 лет назад
Why so pricy? I mean I get that its a Gibson, but come on! Quality control isn't the best in the world in my opinion. Fender's got the right idea with pricing. If they're charging more for some stickers and forcing us to use these robotic tuners, then there's nothing really traditional about this guitar. I may just settle for a Tele.
@ernestochang1744
@ernestochang1744 9 лет назад
Tell me about it!!! and some guitars are not the same, i have a fender precision bass highway 1 from 2008 costed me about $800 ... best $800 spent in my life is just so clean and so balanced sound between the strings and it really is precise with its notes, and i don't need to intonate it in another 3 weeks or so, i play about 8 times a week and its amazing, i would not pay more then $1,400 for a bass or guitar
@SickMetalAddict
@SickMetalAddict 9 лет назад
I doubt you're forced to get the robotic tuner. That's what I thought, but I just got a new Gibson that normally comes with a Robotic Tuner, and I got mine without. It's just hard though I agree cause most sites will not mention whether it has or it doesn't have it, but basically if it's listed twice, and the 2nd time it's cheaper by $150 then the 2nd one doesn't have it. That aside, I like the zero fret and pick guard thing. Zero fret = better tuning.

There is no way on earth I buy another gibson, and that includes even a set o strings. Why is gibson so expensive now????!!!! I guess they are very greedy now. If other main superior manufacturers can afford the same and even better quality guitar with half the price,then gibson can too. Dont tell me they grow the trees in other planets etc... its such a shame. I am not paying more than double the price for just a name. When les paul started making guitars, he was all about passion not greed. This is not my opinion so many people are turning away from gibson because of silly prices!!!!

+Rick Ferguson (KarateRick) I have a 2015 Traditional which is a special run model with GC, vintage tulip-head tuners, traditional neck width, but still has brass nut and snap-in pickguard, exact same guitar as the regular one otherwise. It's a fantastic sounding guitar and stays in tune okay (not as good as the ones with locking tuners, but won't crap out mid-song either). Robot tuners are one thing, they can easily be swapped out with some drilling. Neck profile not so much. Whoever thought a 7-string neck would work on a 6-string guitar should be fired.

Gibson 2015. A desaster! Innovations (G-Force, wider neck and fingerbaord,..). Gibson should fire all the innovation group. Les would cry out loud, when he is still living. People who had such ideas, do know nothing about playing guitar. It have tryed today some of the Gibson 2015. I don't feel comfortable with the neck- too wide. G-Force is not a must have. Please test your innovations first! And Jim Decola, he don't know how to play guitar, that's why all this bad ideas- oh sorry- innovations.

I am stunned how far this company has slipped in just a few short years. Thank the Lord above I bought 2 new Les Paul's in 2012 when they were still Les Paul's. When is Gibson going to stop screwing up something that worked for so many years? I couldn't even find a regular standard online that doesn't have that stupid tuning system etc. Sad that the company is going that way putting more gizmo's on there Les Pauls etc. Beside prices going up every year which is going to push out the regular Gibson buyers out of the market.

I got traditional 2013. Great guitar, Its my main horse now with tele. Lots of people are gonna hunt now for old models. I dont think that automatic system will work as often strings need to be strecht, thou that nut might be a good idea. Only one thing I had to work on my tradi was the nut, needed bit of adjustment, I had a problem with staing in tune in the begining. It shouldnt realy take a place in guitar for 1700 pounds... Appart of that its worth its price.

Hi everyone, I have a serious question as I ,add the mistake of choosing this over the trad pro. Someone returned it so I got 20 percent off and I personally like the neck. The neck is nice if you don't like it that's ok. It's more I assume like a traditional hybrid. It's traditional in that it comes with the classic pickups and the original no weight relief which is how Les Paul designed it. I did have to buy a 200. Padded strap but they were originally heavy.. Ok, so I don't want to argue with the above because I have a serious question amd I'm a stray guy. The only other Gibson I have is am old model called "the Paul" which made me want to buy a les paul. Seems like I got unlucky. Lol My problem, I hate hate hate the G force!!!!!!!!!!!!. I didn't even know what it was (my friend was with me rushing me) when I bought it off the used rack. I thought it was something to help you tune it manually at various turnings manually doh... It works fine in that it works but fuck you use it once it wil tune but your gonna go out while your playing guitar. Why? Because if you know how to tune a freakin guitar you know you gotta stretch the strings, tune the, back and restretch until it sets perfectly. Or that's what I do with my strats. I just always wanted a Gibson Les Paul as another guitar and I liked it better than the trad pro 2 for some reason......even though I prefer strats (sorry no offense but I have been playing for tweety years and have one custom, one vintage and one custom shop and a Fullerton so really over the two decades of playing I was ignorant to all other guitars). Finally I'm like I need a Les Paul even if i hardly play it, I always liked some of the drive you get. Nonetheless....I wanted an LP because I bought a Gibson called "the Paul" amd it had some tone I really dug....so hey lets get a les paul and continue to play my strats mostly. I paid less for this because I pulled it off the used rack. So I paid 20 percent less. Case was not cool but it's just a case. It is already scratched up.. The case is heavy duty but it scratches easy. Guitar is flawless. My question: Should I sell it, spend more money and get an older model or should I have it taken off. I asked the guy at GC and he said because of the complaints they offer 50. For 50 bucks a change out for the inclusion tuners.. So I'd have it off and no more g force. Yeah! Of course would this devalue the guitar (I'd probably keep it so o suppose don't care) so should I sell amd have what I don't like fixed? I don't like the head stock but can live with it. I was going to sell it and buy this 79 custom which of course also had no weight relief amd similar but felt real nice..but cost 3k amd someone got to it before I could sell this one amd get the other cash up so I still have it. What would you guys do if you liked the neck (it's good for certain things) and the copper nut and really just hate with a passion the g force system? Sell it and buy a new one with extra cash or just pay for the removal? The force does not lock in like real tuners so even manually they suck. They make this awful sound when you use them manually. Please advise. Excuse my ignorance but this is my second Gibson (first was called "the Paul" amd I liked it so I wanted a real les Paul). I don't know what to do. I don't want to let it sit there. I mean I love my custom strats but I like the tone and feel for certain things on this guitar and it's still nice to me (a thicker neck is cool for strat guys who have thinner necks) so should I fix it, amd possibly devalue the guitar (which may not matter) or should I sell it amd buy am older model like I was going to do but someone got to it first...I have to sell this one amd then take extra cash I guess. I'm debating but don't know which yet... I'm a strat guy amd single coil guy but it can come in handy in the studio if fixed. Sell it amd buy an older model I like amd have time to play or fix this one?????
@einsteincreative
@einsteincreative 8 лет назад
Hey, I had the same problem. The GForce blows. I liked the thicker neck as well. Pretty nice feel. Turns out I could have purchased new tuners and paid 60. to install only costing 150. If you like the guitar, you might want to consider selling it as is and getting a new one or put new tuners on you can buy from gibson. Everyone hates the Gforce. The guitar center had so many returns. I liked everything else about it myself. I ended up trading it for another american strat plus 600 bucks which was a 200. I also got the same deal. Someone bought it, had it for like a month and returned it. Probably because of the Gforce. Here is the major problem with the GForce system. It sucks ha ha. No seriously. Forget that it can tune in 3 seconds. The issue is the fact that it doesn't stay in tune even through an entire song after. You see when you put new strings on everyone knows you need to tune it, then wiggle it out of tune, then tune it back, then wiggle each string more until it settles and stays in tune. When you have something like this, while its AUTO tuning, it moves the tuners up and down real fast and bam your in tune...But the strings will never stay settled because every time you use the auto tuner while its tuning, its also loosening and tightening the strings so it can't even make it through a song in tune which is absurd! There really is no good way to electronically tune your strings and why would you want that crap on a traditional model anyway is beyond me. I didn't even know what it was when I bought it other than it was aq tuning system. I liked the guitar. I heard Gibson sent out new Grover tuners to everyone that was complaining and they were replacing them. I tried to do this first but they were out of grovers and so hell whats another american strat plus cash lol. I have a lot of american strats now. So I'm probably going to go back and get a new traditional ( get the thick padded gibson straps (they arer expensive but the weight feels like nothing). So thats what I'm doing. Taking the 600, and more cash like another grand and get a new one. Or sell one of the starts I don't play (I like the new one) and sell that.. I like the weighted traditional gibbons . Thats how custom Gibsons were originally made. All solid..But to each his own bottom-line, even if you use it without, thew force must go. Its terrible terrible thing they did. I am still ticked. Funny how you get a nice guitar and it sucks because they put an electronic tuner on it. But you can replace. So replace it or sell it and get one without gforce as the 2016 don't have them or you have too ask for them.

I guess Gibson didn't learn from their Fretless Wonders. Smaller frets mean easier chording but tougher bending. I also think it's hilarious that Gibson is trying to sell us on a jump up from 28 awg wire to 26 awg. Hell, they could have jumped up to 22 awg wire for a couple pennies a foot more. DEFINITELY JUSTIFYING THAT 30% PRICE INCREASE ACROSS THE BOARD.

Gibson is going to hell in a quick fashion. These new guitars suck, period. And I'm not the only one who thinks so. Every time I go into my local stores, there hangs the same Gibson guitars that were in there last time. I will not be buying one of these, new or used, ever. And I'm a self admitted Gibson fan boy who owns two of them presently and has owned others in the past.
