In this lesson Dweezil's got you playing "outside of the box", literally. Using just a couple notes outside of a scale or chord pattern you can add a new dynamic to you're lead playing without learning new scales. What a difference a half-step can make!

The first time I saw Zappa Plays Zappa I talked to an older dude who was a big Zappa fan and he said that he thinks Dweezil is an even better guitarist than Frank. So take that for what you will, I guess it's not exactly fair since we don't have Frank anymore.

Be very careful! One of the 400 Roxy SGs was shipped to Guitar Center Houston from Gibson with the electronics totally messed up. The guitar felt great but I wasn't able to hear the electronics that makes this gem so special. They're having to get replacement parts directly from Gibson. You'd think they'd QC these things after they leave the factory? They said they'd knock $300 off the sticker price.

I know what he is talking about. My bands have been somewhat improvisational, and if hit a flub note, I will quickly brake form and find a way to make that mistake into something that is often surprisingly cool. Then I try sometimes try to work that in.

cool. I believe this is called interpolation. There's a great book that all the greats knew of by zappa's friend Slonimsky known as thesaurus of scales and melodic patterns.

That shiny part on the tail is awful. It gave me a headache at his show this past weekend reflecting the lights in my eyes. Great show love his music, love the guitar. But that shiny part needs to go.

That was done on purpose… they put usa ones in the prototype and dweezil told em that those weren’t the ones frank had in his sg. The Chinese ones are the exact ones Frank had in his sg.

Saw DZ in Dallas couple months back. I kept arguing with myself that he's 'never great as his dad.' Every solo he took was SO clean and articulate, I was confounded. He was superb. The band was unbelievable as well.

This is a POS guitar, made out of plastic. You are better off spending the same amount of money and getting a pre 1970 SG Special and getting it modded. I bought the roxy SG and sent it back.

This is not made of plastic, it's mahogany with a satin finish, I don't know how you could believe a company like gibson would make a guitar made of plastic

Tawky Tawny may I ask what your issues were w the Zappa Roxy SG? What did u mean they're " made of plastic" ? I was gifted one by a friend. and I've had problems getting used to the frets, they're super,super low.. I have problems getting under the strings while doing bends..
