Tone is amazing and your playing compliments it! Awesome demo shows the character of the guitar flows through the entire clip. We want some more of that! Please keep posting. Thank you for sharing!
Bought one, super light weight, and subtle symmetrical wood grain. It’s magnificent. I also bought the new SG Junior. For me, Gibson’s new batch of guitars are the very best they’ve made. Finally giving the people what they want. I was never a fan of in store Gibsons until about 2018.
Agree 1000%. I took a long break from Gibson as they seemed to experiment on their line of guitars for well over a decade. From their electronic tuners to their weird chamber body experiments, I wasn’t having any of it. Once the pivoted back to making a few guitar models really well, I bought. Enjoy the new guitars!
I have a 2020 model. I swapped out the neck pickup for a SD P-90 phat cat and put a SH-5 in the bridge. Sounds amazing and a lot more versatile with the p-90 in the neck.
You know, I was entertaining the idea of doing the same thing. I did that exact thing to my Les Paul years ago and never looked back. Sometimes a humbucker in the neck can sound a bit muddy/flubby. To each their own. Definitely interested in trying the phat cat at some point. She’s too new to mess with just yet!
I kid you not, I got it set up the day I bought it and haven’t tuned it since. It stays in tune really well, much better than my Les Paul. I keep it in its case when I’m not playing it.
@@AdhitiaSofyan yeah my Les Paul is annoying. When I was playing with a few bands I’d have to tune between every song or break in a song. Frustrating. This SG, honestly no issues.
I got a 2011 sg special and it stays ok in tune for gauge 9 but I just bought it so I have to set it up with 11s i hope they stay better in tune... Anyway fenders stay much better in tune than gibsons
Mine has a few dead spots actually. All on the G String past the 12th fret (15 or 19 ish maybe?). It's a bummer, but it's actually quite common on SG's. A professional set-up helps, but doesn't completely resolve the issue. I got a bit flustered with it at first, then would try and play around it, then eventually didn't think much of it. Actually...your comment just reminded me of it! Best of luck!
Wanted to circle back to this - I went to get the guitar professionally set up and the luthier said most of these SG's he's been working on have a bad nut. I had him put a bone nut on and set it up. Zero dead spots. Something to consider.
@@bclmax wild. Go to Chicago Music Exhange and IM them on their chat box. Ask for someone in guitars. They will knock a hundred or more off, set it up with new strings and ship it for free. *Sweetwater is typically outstanding as well though. Just got some monitors and a motu interface through Sweetwater.
@@josh_reed_ I bought one in January I freaking love it! I bought a Les Paul 60s standard with the same pickups and I love it too but I play this SG far more often.
@@Paratus1179 heck yeah. I’ve had the same Les Paul Studio since 2000, plus have had several fenders and a few others along the way, but this SG was a birthday present from the wife recently. Absolutely love it.
@@josh_reed_ ive been looking at the current studios they have the same pickups as my 09 SG but they can coil split. I’m probably gonna get a Telecaster first though haha
@@Paratus1179 Tele’s are awesome. Had a few. Ended up having to sell them with all the moving I’ve done over the years. Finally settled down in a home and will grab an American deluxe tele again down the road. Miss that one.
Tones not as good as it would be with handwired electronics, pots capacitors all that good stuff. Up grade to better electronics then you'll see what all the fuss was about the real 61'.
Don't make excuses in your notes. If the sound is that bad, don't upload. Make another video with better sound! What was your purpose of uploading one with the problems you describe? Practice for a month and post a good one. No excuses! You're playing is good. Be confident!
I am not sure how to respond to this haha! I feel like I was both shunned and praised in the same comment. Wild and confusing all at once! All jokes aside, this isn't my daytime job, and actually, I filmed this mainly to test out my new Sony a6400 camera. I decided to upload it because I was bored. Just moved into a new home, hadn't pieced the studio together until after this video. More videos coming soon with better audio and the same playing!
