A combination of things. We had to manage high hamstring tendinitis this season so he missed school track. We also had to do a lot of training outside the forward vector to work around the hamstring: things like backpedaling up a steep grass hill, box jumps, etc. He grew up primarily an 800 runner so historically he did a lot of pace training, repeat 200s with 30 sec rest (800 breakdowns), long runs, etc. Toward the end of the season we do more speed work to peak at the right time.
