Hi James F, Welcome! Good to hear from You! That makes two of Us! I've thought about doing something for BuildOrBuy on Zoom or even Live Streaming however Answering Subscribers Questions has me busy as it is. Hard to believe We use to do that every Wed. A way of life! I miss seeing everyone. And after where We were meeting was going to start charging, that also was a problem with many of Our Members who said no. Then everything else changed. And here We are. Really Appreciate Your Support! If You have any Computer Questions, I'm still doing what Me and Joe were doing, trying to help Computer Users through BuildOrBuy! We were blessed to have had Joe Whinnery working with Us. That was an honor and a privilege.

Four years of utube gamer channels never mentioning how few resources are on desktop boards and only mentioning TR as a product for guys that need 64 cores, left people in the dark. Huge increases in cpu lanes and memory channels were never explained to the viewers. Last year it started. Guys were screaming that quad cards are no good. An Asus or Gigabyte quad card only sees two of their NVMe drives. Only Gill explained there using a board with only an X8 GEN4 PCIe socket.
@maxhughes5687
@maxhughes5687 2 года назад
GILL ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS. Utube gamer review channels leave it to other commenters to answer a viewers question or attack you for asking about what the review left out. ONLY GILL will make a video to demonstrate your questions answer!😅 A channel's fans will disagree with you but never offers any proof. That way the channel never lied to you. The channel never lied to you he just left details out and the commenter (always a fake name) was the only one that lied.

Hi@@maxhughes5687, Thank You! Never thought that Quad card Topic would be such a big deal. I figured esoteric but important enough to share at the time. Then all of a sudden everyone wants to install a Quad card yet they had no clue what was going on and why it would not work. And so the Journey began. That's why I think addressing all of these Motherboard questions this way will help Viewers realize, know better, do better! This issue with PCIe Resources is like IRQs were at one time. Let's hope Viewers will do their Research now before rather than after, once they understand. This Video tomorrow is another good example. An Intel CPU with 10 Cores and 16 PCIe 3.0 Lanes or a CPU with 8 Cores and 20 PCIe 4.0 Lanes on a Z590 Chipset with 24 PCIe 3.0 Lanes. Terrible trade-offs just for Thunderbolt 4. Marketing! A good intro before We cover Z690! And still a let down! We have Viewers already asking about it or waiting for it. When what they need is a TRX40! If AMD were to ever figure out Marketing, they would be dangerous! And hopefully the Amfaltec Squid right after tomorrow's Video!

Got an interesting loading the Hyper M.2 4.0 on Asus B450-i and B550-i cards (which are ITX). The goal was to load them with M.2 nvmes at max. Hyper card idea was an epic fail but now I think it had a chance (I've been using both M.2 slots on the MB plus the sata port). Buut what I've done next is way more ridiculous IMO. I've put 3 mobos together in a 40GBe network with Mellanox ConnectX-3 PCIE 3.0 x8 adapters. RDMA is a thing. Struggling now to handle Infiniband config on windows to get the 56Gbit network. Don't ask why :) x16 is no place for GPUs in 2021. And yes TRX40 is a way better platform. But when it comes to some extra ideas the WRX80 is the one to reach. With upcoming Pro CPUs should be the overkill platform.
@BuildOrBuy
@BuildOrBuy 2 года назад
Hi Klaus Borge, Welcome! Sounds like a wicked setup! All of that just for an RDMA experiment. Or proof of concept. Interesting rabbit. Yes, the TRX40 is a best solution for most but most do not realize the benefits yet! Yes, also agreed! Absolutely! The WRX80 Platform, right on target! Those new CPUs We are waiting on, We have to let Intel go 1st. More noise when that bubble bursts. This next year should be interesting for Computer Technologies! PCIe 5.0 then PCIe 6.0! Expect PCIe 5.0 to be short lived making the current TRX40 and WRX80 with newer CPUs an even better solution! Thanks for Sharing! Keep Us Posted on Your Progress!

Eight channel TR PRO memory will not be tested against six channel Xeon by Gamer channels until single cpu Xeon offers 12 channel.

Hi@@maxhughes5687 Exactly! Good one! Implementation may be different from the Spec. This will be like buying Slag paint at an auction! There will be lots of Buyers remorse after the RMA runs out! We can deduce and extrapolate from the Specs. Reading from 1 Gigabyte Motherboard manual I've seen, I do not believe what I'm reading. Meaning, surely once product is shipping, those PDFs will be refreshed to represent actual Specs otherwise, something is not right with the documentation. Such as DDR5, yes. M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 only. However, 1 PCIe 5.0 Slot, Shared. That's a mixed bag. Of those 3 Listed, an M.2 should be possible if there are 20 PCIe 5.0 Lanes available. I'll go over that again this weekend.

@BuildOrBuy
@BuildOrBuy 2 года назад
HI@@maxhughes5687, Very much Agree on that. 1 GPU makes more sense when We look at not just the Cost but the Resources allocated from PSU to Slots to Applications. 1200 Watts, that's a lot of PSU on a 15 amp circuit! Yes, We can both see that handwriting on the wall too. Why purchase an M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 Drive when in a few months We can choose a PCIe 5.0 M.2 NVMe which will be backwards compatible. Very hard to justify even a 3rd Generation PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe Drive right now like the Seagate FireCuda 530. Why buy slower when faster is coming unless We just need the space. Even still, better to wait. More options! I hope doing these 'what if' options for possibility thinking will help Viewers think! Hi Juan Calle, Welcome! Congrats on what You have! Good start! When We know better, We hopefully do better! A 16 Core CPU. If You want a Z690 Motherboard, We need to wait until the official Release on November 4th, 2021. Otherwise everything is up for conjecture. However, looks like the initial offerings will be DDR4 only. No DDR5 and no M.2 NVMe PCIe 5.0 Drives until next Year according to Phison. If You Build right now for a 16 Core CPU, suggest AMD. Hope that helps! Thanks for Asking!

What's available right now from Intel or AMD desktop PC's don't have very many cpu lanes. In fact one 3090 and one firecuda 530 would use all of them. Gill has covered all the resources and what can run on GEN4 lanes with a Threadripper TRX40. This is just my opinion. Right now a used TRX40 might be a good buy and put a 3090 and a Firecuda 530 running at max speeds. With the new TR PRO out soon and the WRX80 boards already out a TRX40 user might get the upgrade. I would watch the used prices.

Got a 5900x for 35% off and I decided to refuse the package & return the rubbish. Spent 2 weeks looking for motherboards and the are all garbage, B550 & x570(s). B550s shouldn't even exists when it comes to PCie-4, that's a slap in the face. Bottom line, Took me a while to finally realize that buying these regular CPUs are a waste of money and a joke. They wanna charge you an arm and a leg then a kidney & a liver for 24 pcie lanes. Haha what a massive joke. The mother board are straight garbage, with only 1 pcie lane to the cpu and the rest of board all wired up to chipset. Charging you a cool 400-600 because they slap ROG on a board and then load with 15 USBs on the IO. What I'm saying is, stop wasting your money folks and save up then build an HEDT. Threadripper has 88 pcie lanes, DIRECTLY TO CPU. Regular CPUs is a joke and a waste of money. The okie doke is real I'm the PC parts market.
