He joined Cobra to discover who killed the Hard Master. After he found out what happened he left Cobra and didn't officially join the Joe team. He only joined up with them when Snake Eyes would ask him to and where he felt it was absolutely needed. He did it to clear his name and to seek revenge for the Hard Master and the clan.
@beesbattlegrounds so you're saying you'd rather him be a boring one dimensional character. The fact that he isn't just some mindless bad guy, being bad just because is what makes him appealing as a character.
I think it was issues #26 & #27 where we find out he joined Cobra to find out who really killed his Uncle. Issue #85 they did antother silent story with Storm Shadow in this gear. I'm getting two so I can strip one down. Great review as always sir.
I think my wife grabbed this one for me. I'm not allowed to buy any until after January because of gifts for the holidays and birthday. I really like this design. It looks like a lot of Ninja suits from movies. I agree on the packaging. I miss the art design work from the first series.
I prefer Storm Shadow as part of the Joes. V2 was the first one I ever got and him joining Cobra in order to find his uncle's killer then giving up on revenge and joining the Joes made him a more compelling character to me. Plus it fit with his being a Vietnam Vet with Snake Eyes and Stalker.
I picked it up. I never owned this version. Only version 1 and Ninja Force. When he became a Joe I had no problem with it. It was weird in the cartoon he was cobra in the sunbow version and the DiC series he was a Joe with new gear. I eventually went back to the comics to get an explanation on him joining the joes.
Lookin forward to this one, was thinking about kitbashing between the first and this one to go for a more Resolute style. I always prefered Tommy as a villain or rival to Snake-Eyes over a full blown good guy on the Joes. If and when they do another Storm Shadow I kinda hope they do the, I think it was Valor vs Venom that had the Cobra Logo on his mask. Its just goofy enough to work. Also the only other real unique design left for the character.
This was my favorite Storm Shadow deco in the vintage line, but I never put him with the Joe team. I wish the hood wasn't so strange looking on this one and that the legs were designed a little less baggy. I don't know if I'll eventually pick him up, or just wait and see if they change him up for a retro card release. He's definitely not a must-have for me, as it stands.
Storm Shadow is my favorite character, V2 was my favorite version and one of my last Joes I got as a kid. I am still waiting on my preorder from Hasbro and I might get a 2nd to customize. Him becoming a good guy makes him more interesting to me.
I can't wait to get him I loved him as a kid I played with him for days at my nanas house after I got him, it was a sad sad day when the neighbor kid stole him. I got him back a year later I found him in his sandbox. I love the upgrades I think he's perfect.
Even as a kid I didn't like Storm Shadow being 100% Joe. I didn't mind him leaving Cobra, but in my head canon I thought of him as a free agent... teaming up with the Joes only when it benefited his interests. This figure looks pretty cool. I wish the hood matched the original V2 look, but I don't think it's as bad as a lot of folks are saying.

The red paint on the swords faded pretty fast on mine.... that kinda ticked me off. Also some of the camo spots have started to fade too... cmon on hasbro!
It should be noted that the red paint on the sword handles it pretty cheap and rubs off pretty easy. It's come off all over his hands and on the side of the pouches if you're not careful.
I haven't been picky about any Classified until this one... Whyyyyy did they put his swords on the wrong side? Been into Samurai and Ninja for yeeears 😆 this bugs me. 🤦♂️🤷♂️
@beesbattlegrounds Yeah man every one of them always carried on their left side. Even if you were left handed, you learned with your right and carried your sword(s) on your left side. I know, they're just toys lol but it's Storm Shadow, he'd know better. 🍻
Fingers crossed they have another go at doing the ninjia force storm shadow because that snow missions version is not as cool as the first ninjia force verson. Since they are doing that 1991 snake eyes I would make sense to re doing ninjia force storm shadow
This Stormshadow is complete garbage....why?....because, Hasbro sacrificed the 2nd best Stormshadow so they can have a repaint for Budo. That's Budo's sheath belt and shin pads. A Real Ninja's gear goes as such... -1 Katana(with a square hilt that doubles as a throwing star). -Rope. -1 claw(which is used for defense against a sword,like a Sai also does). -Bow w/Arrows(which is Stormshadow's main weapon as he is the master of it, which his skill is only rivaled by Zartan's bow skill....Snake-Eyes is the master of the sword). ....all that listed above is og V2. Stormshadow's gear, which is accurate. Only Samurai carry two swords(1 long 1 medium in length) and third blade being a tanto knife. New era Hasbro always gets this wrong due to lazy research. ...here's hoping they don't mess up, Budo. Good review as always, B.
@beesbattlegrounds Samurai are fighters,but also tanks...they have a lot of gear. They don't need movement due to they stand and fight(and usually win). ...as for NINJA? less is more for them...they rarely fight and when they do, it's from the shadows. They are spies,thieves, assassinan and recon. They need to move fast and be able to hide and climb...their gear/weapons is minimal.
Anyway, joke comment aside, the funny thing is this *technically* isn't even the first Joe Storm Shadow released in Classified considering the 'Arctic Mission' one was based on Ninja Force/V3 Storm Shadow.
