McCants had a point. Edwards didn't say anything REMOTELY disrespectful. It was portrayed as him "deciding" he'd play Kyrie but what he said was "That's my matchup". so it almost certainly was assigned by his coach. He was literally just saying, "This is what's going to happen, we'll see what I can do. It will be fun." He annoys me sometimes, but that was completely harmless and even Kyrie said that he loved Edwards, watched him play in high school, and that's exactly how someone is supposed to feel....that he is looking forward to a challenge. Kyrie beat him because he's quicker and more experienced (the same shit that happens to Luka against all these quick guards he tries to defend). Nothing wrong with Edwards not being able to stop him. Gordon is an excellent defender but Edwards torched him in the series because he was too quick for the big man. That's what McCants was trying to get across. He didn't disrespect Kyrie, that was the media twisting what he said to make it sound more exciting.
As a college player ant coming off of saying he put murray in handcuffs and then basically saying im taking the assignment to gaurd kyrie next. As kyrie. it’s not about taking it personally in a negative way. but you are gonna take it personally because kyrie is no jamal murray and he showed that.
It doesn’t have to sound disrespectful for it to be a challenge! Friendly challenge is a thing you know ijs. But also the context around it matters… like Kenyon said, it was insinuated by how Ant guarded Murray. Which Ant said he guarding Kyrie so if I’m Kyrie I’m showing him that I’m not Murray. Plus Kyrie was definitely more aggressive than he has been in these playoffs.
Rashad is RIGHT. Ant didn't say anything derogatory or had that type of energy towards kyrie during that interview. The MEDIA minced his words and made it seem as if ant said I got kyrie on some I'm go lock him up. If anything he was saying it that's go be a TOUGH task. He literally said I think my match up will be kyrie we'll see how I do
Rashad was right about "the context" of what Anthont Edward's said. TF else is he supposed to say when asked about the match up next series?? He didn't say "imma lock him up" or anything else close to that. That's good Kyrie DECIDED to take it personally and finally wake the hell up.
The fact he said kyries alone is a slight remember Tyrese Hali said pat bevs name in a interview not even being disrespectful but pat bev took it that way it’s guys names you don’t even say for him to say I’m guarding kyrie the way he said it yea I cant see it looking disrespectful
Been saying this from the start. Gil, McCants and Kenyon are the big three of the show, are the most entertaining when paired up and have the most basketball knowledge.
Like ain’t this a debate show bro? So we just suppose to let you say how you feel and let you rock but let us say something you shaking your head and disagreeing with us 😂😂😂. I love shad but come on lol
@@Prodydworthy585 nahh i agree bro im saying with mccants its like he dont wanna debate his point after someone disagrees, its like he gets annoyed he has to back his stance up whenever someone disagrees with him. Like we a debate show im trying to understand where you coming from. We dont have to agree
I swear Mccants and Kenyon gotta throw the gloves on or sum cause allat “listen to what im saying first young man” and “boy” shit is crazy at this point, you aint intimidating nobody just speak
27:14 Kobe Bryant didn’t look old until he got the Achilles injury. Before that he was still playing at exceptionally high-level, I believe he was scoring 27 points game, and he started becoming more of the facilitator on the team, playing similar to James Harden and LeBron, but he would also go into the post a lot more than the two of them. However, LeBron would definitely have the longevity argument, because maybe Kobe would have two or three years at a high enough level to make all NBA teams
Because that drop coverage off the pick and roll. It’s hard to cover when Luka or Kyrie have you on their back forcing the big to make a decision on who to cover. Easy to take the paint scoring with that
@@Prodydworthy585they won’t be able to. They’re gonna try. But if they try to not switch on screens they’re going to get dissected by Luka and Kyrie. They need to switch everything and live with the result. Unless it’s ant guarding either of them🤣 then that’s trouble fr bc he got fried last night
@@CarbonSound4wings need to switch everything when put in the PNR but the bigs can live with sagging off. Luka not Steph Curry now he can get hot but it’s 3 more games. I rather them wall up and stop the easy baskets im old school.
Gil and McCants are both right. I don’t think ANT meant to sound arrogant, pretty sure Kyrie and KD are his favorite players. At the same time, can’t deny that Kyrie didn’t take up the challenge.
Nah you bugging Luka only played the Euro league level for 3 seasons. Which is impressive for a teenager, but it's not gonna earn you a hall of fame bid.
Kmart saying “I don’t think these guys have the IQ to know each player is different and make defensive moves based on that” He’s right but it’s because they don’t teach or play defense anymore outside of a handful of. Guys and a couple teams. The masses don’t play defense and have zero idea how to truly guard anymore.
true, the thats why coaches now are having a hard time to teach defense, most of the young ones that are coming in the league are one and done players who are aau stars on their hs teams. Done are the days when players come in to the league with solid fundamentals. most of this young guys don't even know how to pass an entrée pass, and contesting close outs where they almost always foul because they don't know how to. Euro players coming in had better set of skills and IQ because they are playing at a young age on systems, while the home grown players are just building egos
Idk what Mccants aspires to be in the future, I really hope it’s an Analyst. He’ll excel in that role 100%. Bro has been working on his talk and expressing his perspective on the game that folks can understand. Idk why Gil and the other folks tripping on that man But yall need him frfr. Show ain’t gonna hit the same without him. Figure that beef out, cause Gil you really acting like a nigga that was nice in high school and ain’t never grew up past that moment 😮💨🤦🏾♂️ Shit be sad sometimes But we love yall heavy tho
Ain’t body bullying anyone yall soft bro 😭😭. If you ever seen boys talk about sports or ANY debate with each other. This is how we talk! This is mad authentic between everybody involved. This is normal, and this is what makes the show as great as it is. Nothing is fake loll.
Shit gets heated cause grown niggas emotional instead of logical. This was a lot of feelings when you can’t argue facts against facts. A lot of yall can relate cause the responsibility of laying down facts behind your opinion was something yall never picked up. Thats why this shit was soft asl and why Mccants showing up like a big dawg against his lil bro
McCants was 💯% right on this. The strategy and knowing your roles dictate a lot of the outcomes on matchups. Kyrie is going to cook damn near everyone. Kyrie knew his role for this game and played his part. He even said it in the post game presser.
McCants Dallas is a well-rounded team offensively and defensively. Yes we have 2 stars but I’ll role-player play big also. so don’t discredit us like we’re not a good team. We are here for a reason.
Kenyon, Gil, and Rashad. Long as you have those three, it doesn't matter the other analyst, you have a great show. And thats not a knock to any of them, Brandon, Lexie, etc, but to make the basketball analogy; those three are the "core" pieces, the other "players" just have to fit around. Grade A basketball talk
you gotta be young lol legendary scorer. had 60 on kobe lol was the only person i can remember shooting game winners and putting his hands up before it went in.
MCCant was speaking facts. ant never said he was gonna lock up Kyrie. He said that was his assignment. Ant did good on him. Kyrie really didn’t score on ant.
“Agent Zero, changed the game” this has to be one of cheesiest, corniest lines I’ve ever heard. All he changed was they search athletes bags for guns now too, not just the regular team employees 😂😂😂😂😂
@@marcespinoza6068and wolves had a great game ? Wolves missed a lot of shots abd ant is not going cold like that again. Lol if wolves switch up defensive scheme its a different story. series smh.
McCants so right on the Anthony Edward’s segment. He just stepping up not saying he locking him down. And it’s the finals so Kyrie gone go crazy regardless.
Ja has played four playoff serieses in his career. He's been good, but not incredibly good. And he's coming off of an injury. He might become a superstar, but there's a big question mark on his next season.
McCants calling them out for just repeating the media narrative. First they act like Ant said he was going to shut down Kyrie. Then trying to get on KAT for saying he was tired. Also they act like Ant was solo guarding Kyrie and Luka by himself the entire game. Then of course they want to blame Gobert everytime they lose but don't say anything when they win. What's funny is when Dallas won the Championship vs Heat everyone said the same thing that Heat were taking too many jump shots and getting dominated in the paint. Guess what Dallas was playing a zone and forcing them to make shots
What ant did was very not ordinary. How many players when on live camera say 'i got x'. If you're publicly claiming you got Kyrie you're calling out that matchup that you're going to shut them down this isn't hard
@@tyyy00 They asked him what his thoughts are going up against the Mavs 5 minutes after the game 7 win and he said "Its going to fun. My matchup will be Kyrie so we'll see what I can do against him" That's about the most humble way you could ever "call someone out" and is obviously a lot different than saying I'm going to shut him down which is the way the media is presenting it.
Kyrie even said he watched that & used that as motivation. He humbled saying he took that personal. You can tell you don’t play sports or competitive. When you hear someone say out loud I got him. That’s basically saying I can guard you. Hoopers take that personal bro. & mccants contradicting anyways. Later he said ant challenging kyrie. Mccants just mad kyrie didn’t guard ant.
@@westfinest20 If Kyrie needs Ant saying he was going to be guarding him, which everyone already knew because who else is he going to gaurd, to get motivated to actually try to score then idk bro haha. Maybe he was just due for a good game. Maybe he just saw everyone else was struggling and they were doubling Luka....
I luv the honesty on today's show... the NBA is not better today than back in the late 90's/00's.. 1st time in a while yall was honest about it!! Potential, talent, individual skills and shot making doesn't ever reach great to elite status without work ethic and basketball IQ!! That's goes for any profession in the world and Athletics is not an exception to the rule..
@@tylersuggs11 because Kyrie stepped up because “he’s been here before” in the conference finals where you play to win. His enthusiasm to guard Ky sparked Ky to play to win? Come on bro
@@tylersuggs11the media put that pressure on Kyrie to respond bcuz he's been quiet, not scoring. The media started that Poking the bear narrative aka Barkley and Steven A, others followed so Kyrie felt he had to respond but that didn't come from Ant
I swear kenyon and gil don't watch games. How you can think that gobert was the problem last night is beyond me. He was +10. He was the reason they were close. It was when the other two bigs were on the floor together. Just watch the fucking games without a bias. It isn't hard. Do better.
