I personally like to hear about stories & experiences after a player has retired or is out no longer in the league. I also agree with Kenyon about just speaking on personal situations & current events around the world rather than other players and teams. You don’t need to start a podcast to address something that isn’t true; there are plenty of outlets to control your narrative.

Rashad cooked yall with the 15th spot argument. And yall weren't even arguing the same thing. Shad was arguing the 15th spot on the roster. Gil was arguing the specific players that were the 15th guy. That's why Gil kept looking up players from different teams to make it seem like no one knew them. Rashad wasn't arguing their popularity. He was saying that specific spot matters because there can be a scenario in which you get in the game and have to perform. Even if it's not likely it can still happen which is why the spot matters. And his prime example was Gilbert Arenas himself. He proved that if you stay ready as the 15th guy that's literally what makes you matter. IS IT OBVIOUS?!
The actual spot matters cuz it's thousands of mf's who would kill to have that spot! College kids, G-League players, overseas players waiting for a call! Every single roster spot on an nba team matters because there aren't many spots! But yeah the player occupying the spot (12-15), doesn't really matter cuz he don't get no pt, nobody but they family is watching then. He dont matter until he does something with his opportunity to play
Yes and No every roster matters bc if you don't get in the game you never have a opportunity for what Gil did. So you saying what you felt and feel but what are the facts

Nah, Gil, Kenyon and BJ changing it up now because earlier this year they were definitely calling out the nepotism about Thanasis taking up a valuable roster spot and that the best interest for the team would be for them to let him go - but of course, team owners were looking to appease their golden child, Giannis. My main thing is, have the same energy for the conversations about Bronny or at least understand those who are criticizing him for potentially being in a position to take up a roster spot.
I mean Thansis is a grown man with no basketball experience prior to the NBA who’s actually not good. No room for development. Is Bronny face of the league top draft pick level no ? Definitely he can developed into a 2 way role player
@@jahmallmarshall2215 that’s not quite true. Thanasis played for a short while in Greece and then in the NBA’s developmental league before being drafted in 2014. I think he even averaged a bit over 10+ pts while in the developmental league…either way, nepotism in the league is real.
GG Jackson matters, Jeremy Lin matters. I cant believe Gil would say 15th men dont matter. If your name is called then you have a chance to play. I know Josh Selby, he was the 15th man. Lou Will was the 15th man. Btw teams didnt have 15 roster spotslike that.

December 9th 2005 vs Charlotte, Lou Will played 1 second. He was the last man. And cmon now he was NOT a first round draft pick. He was the 45th pick. A few picks after Monta Ellis.
@Johenz the year Lou Will was drafted AI avgd 33 ppg. No permanent player on the team avgd less minutes than Lou Will. And it wasn't even close. He avgd 1.9ppg. When AI got traded and came back sure but best believe Lou Will was NOT a top player in Philly.

@@skymav6 But he's so bad it's not like he's an average 55th pick. He is easily the worst player out in the summer league for every single second he plays. @@thatguy4354 Jaylen got drafted at a spot reflecting his college performance. Bronny was also drafted at a spot that reflects his college performance. It's a good argument because it shows that even all stars and FMVPs once had to go through an adjustment period after coming to the NBA. There were other rookies in the same draft averaging triple singles before getting drafted, one was even drafted at 23. There have also been plenty of 1st round busts who were beasts in college and the summer league but couldn't hack it in the regular season. College stats ain't the end all be all that determines a player's future. Gil's right that 2nd round players are drafted based on potential. While I do think Bronny has a lot of work to do offensively (he sucks right now), he's at a very high level defensively and has the type of intangibles that made Gary Payton II so critical in that 2022 Warriors championship run. I think the proper time to criticize any rookie is after 2-3 years when they've been granted enough time to develop and adjust to the NBA.
