That's right that is why is it's important to pay attention to the previous generation so you have something to build on you are seeing what Martin Luther king told them no lie will last forever and the other America coming back life is 360
IF YOU GOOGLE THE LAST POETS THERE IS A PICTURE OF GILL SCOTT-HERON WITH THE LAST NAME OF KAIN...GSH TO MY KNOWLEDGE WASN'T OF MEMBER OF THE LAST POETS BUT VERY WELL HAD THE SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE TO HAVE BEEN A MEMBER... HIS POETRY AND SPOKEN WORD WAS A HISTORY LESSON.RIP GOOD BROTHER ✌✌✌✌✌✌✌✌
what i love respect & appreciate the most about GSH is the fact that he never lied to me when i listened to him...He was, is & will forever be theREALEST
Wish we had people like him today. Musicians who speak for their people, artists who speak truth to power, powerful men who create timeless art, time keepers for the pulse of their time. Legends. No more heroes anymore.
He was a Masta Wordsmith . Who loved the blues , who was politically adroit . N when needed to vent he just let go , usually to fat ass beat . N there we had the birth of the Hip Hop movement . And his back catalogue is immense.. pure quality. 🙏
It pains me that so few remember this wonderful man and his work. This man opened this little country girl's eyes to what's what 40 years ago. Thank you, GSH.
Today 3/7/20 is the first time I have listen to Mr. H!! I am obsessed with gift this beautiful man used to spread the joy of music and LOVE. What a true and pure Artist. Thank you Lord for sharing your son Mr. H.
I saw him around 2005 or so, when still alive, but he was not in top form but still a genius, drugs impacted his life and talent. Other interviews he said he was blacklisted on many radio stations, impacting his income in the 1970s and 1980s, because he vocalized inequality
An amazing talent, poet, musician, author, political activist, ....I hope God is taking his talented from earth in preparation for one of the most astounding musical events to be hosted in heaven! Even through his struggles, he gave his best....AMAZING...I will always love his talent, his music, his mission was well accomplished; people are still being touched by his truth! Feel really blessed to have met you and saw you perform... R.I.P.
Loved this Live concert! I attended majority of his Chicago concerts till his death! The establishment began censoring his albums -- rumored they sabotaged his career.
You know they held this proud revolutionary voice of strength back. If the state does anything it’s propaganda. And words like this cut through their propaganda like butter. They are too afraid to let him live much less to let him speak.
A GREAT GRIOT...We are LOSING TOO MANY smh. I don't trust this younger generation with ANCIENT ORAL TRADITION and its very sad to say. Reign In Power Brotha GSH & Brotha Steve Cokely, I will honor all THE GREATS and Elders through Ancestral Venerations.
Instead of the Che' man, the Lenin man, the Mao man, how about we have the Anthony Woman, the Kiri woman, the Kuilani Woman, and the Marley man, the zig zag man and the Jesus. revolution comes from peace, love and weakness. humility, prudence and fortitude gained from the wisdom.
One of the first thing Obongo did was appoint a Black the head of NASA. He was told that his FIRST priority was to "embrace muslims and 'make them FEEL GOOD about their contributions to math and science. The FIRST priority. Then he cancelled the next moon mission, the Constilation.
Well that was one thing he was wrong about because according to YA'OH the morning starts when the sin rises. It's like the New Year in the winter. The winter is when things die not grow, new growth! That happens in the spring. The reason that 7 is the ninth month is because they are showing us how they are hiding YA'OH's truths in plain sight!
4:50 hate to break it to all amazed by his wit but... Omega is not the equivalent of Q and it *is* at the end of the Greek alphabet. The minuscule for Omega is ω - just a rounded 'w' and that would make it the equivalent of W, if one looks for an equivalent.
@@donnaashe7219 Q dogs don't know Greek literature. Koppa or qoppa (Ϙ, ϙ; as a modern numeral sign: ϟ) is a letter that was used in early forms of the Greek alphabet, derived from Phoenician qoph (𐤒). It was originally used to denote the /k/ sound, but dropped out of use as an alphabetic character in favor of Kappa (Κ). It has remained in use as a numeral symbol (90) in the system of Greek numerals, although with a modified shape. Koppa is the source of Latin Q, (Wikipedia)
@@donnaashe7219 sure, Greeks copied and evolved the alphabet. So did Latin, the alphabet we adopted. And scholars say *Koppa is the source for Latin letter Q* ... Not Omega.
@ 6:15 reminds me of Snoop Dogg, once again trying desperately to pick up on a real G's persona. I was talking with a friend and said I dislike the term "Blaxploitation" for 70's stuff. If anything THAT was culture and todays stereotyped excuse for culture is just that -ploitation. R.I.P. G. Scott

I first heard mr.Scott around 1989 when I was too naive to understand what he was talking about, yes I knew his words, but not what was driving them. now I am 44, this man was a literary genius
Amen my brother.gil was one of our greatest soul singer.and he spilt lots of knowledge.he taught me and our people alot.we miss and we love you.may your soul rest in peace.
First heard him in 74 @ Wigan Casino . The bottle . Spent the next 30 years getting to know this Genius . He did it all , History old skool History, the Blues, he birthed the hip hop movement. Plus amd endless supply of incredible musical pieces . 🙏🙏🖤💚
If you appreciate the vibe of Gil Scott-Heron, please do me, yourself and the world a favor by looking up the great poet and thinker Amiri Baraka (and especially his poem "In The Tradition." Had we not been too ignorant to listen, we could have had the opportunity to redeem ourselves.
"...there may be some words out there that don't mean nuthin'..." and there are, words like 'jurisdiction' and 'authority'; pure genius. When I listen to Gil Scott-Herron I'm torn between two feelings, the first is awe at his clever use of language and his ability to convey a sense of the anger and despair of social injustice and the ghetto. The second is sadness that his words are still "...so damn relevant".
sovereignty .. he was our extra-curricular history lesson Levittown kids lent them to us... we had to sneak, Red Foxx, Gil and Richard Pryor in the house in Jackson Five album covers.
BlaK Muze reminds me of my dad confiscating my 45 record of Mellencamp's "Jack and Dianne" but buying Prince's 1999 on LP for me the Christmas I was 14, but not. listening to it first. LOL
I'm 73 yrs.old and Mr.Gil Scott Heron was the greatest influence on my political awareness. He has profoundly affected my life forever I WILL NEVER FORGET HIM HE WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART FOR SURE
Gil pledge his allegiance to Truth, good or bad. This man gave me more conviction to truth whether it cost you in the end. This brother sold out to no one. It’s ashamed he’s not more look up to in our communities. Oh I forgot, money rules . God bless you Gil for your truth and honesty something that this world needs badly. RIP
I saw GSH at a club in Houston as well, back in the day. We might have sat by one another @ that club and didn't know it. I was 18yo then. He performed the dot dot did it routine then as well.
