Everybody has their own taste in sound when it comes to the drums you use. All the big brands make amazing kits. It's just a matter of what you connect with. Gil is amazing, no doubt about it.
I want this Kit sooooo bad. I have to get sell my current Collectors Maple kit first though. And the sustain of that floor tom at 2:00!!!! Oh my goodness... that tone hits big and low and as it trails of it just gets lower and lower! Enough to bring the Goose Bumps.
I've read a lot of comments on this video speaking that this kit has no resonance. Now maybe if you're a drummer that just plays for his own pleasure, bombastic resonance is what you like. But if you're in a band and you want to be musical... you need to have the resonance under control. The front of house engineer certainly will want to have the resonance under control. And if your recording in a studio... even more so. But just so you know that these Drums do indeed have resonance... listen to that double hit on the big floor tom at 2:00... it hits low and just keeps going lower. Now maybe you can't hear that. Then you either need much better speakers(including a subwoofer) or you need an appointment with the audiologist. Because I can hear the resonance just fine.
in my not-su-humble opinion, DW is great, and their drums have evolved. however, it seems to me over the years, that, specifically, their bass drums with the Keller shells (90s) were the best in the industry, still unmatched to this day.
Are you kidding? Listen to the big floor tom hit at 2:00. Maybe your speakers just aren't reproducing it, but KRK Rokit 6 and 10s sub... I hear him hit it twice and it hits deep and I hear resonate out going lower and lower and lower.
Destroys those toms with all that power drums are just resonating like crazy yet so much immediate attack then bust out into some swingin groove and tapping that 12 inch tom and it’s still singing then another tom assault and the drums say oh thanks we love to get hit hard we’re drums we still ring we never choke out even if we’re finger tight because we are made right and loved oh and then that snare snares off not much ring a hint of tone and a lot of sound then the mag through off engages the snares and it comes to life the tone some ring the crack and crispness damn. I own a collectors kit maple ssc 10 12 14 20 14x5.5 maple and you can make them sound like that. What’s crazy is that’s how they sound even in the room. When I saw my kit I own now in the store it was pretty cheaply priced so I thought something was wrong with it. I examined it took heads off every drum asked if I could tune em to how I like set em up and was tapping around respectfully then the worker said here go out front and I’ll play em. I was 5ft away and within seconds I new they would be mine I smiled ear to ear another guy walked over and said damn those the ones you were tuning up they sound amazing. I mean they sounded crazy awesome behind the kit but 5 ft or more in front of them and you heard the air they moved just huge sounding for fusion sizes bass drum Tom mount too and the 20 vlx+ shell is a cannon it does it all truly. Gil is amazing and ya it’s his touch too but then go listen to Vigils video. When they stop and you just hear that kit singing together resonating like that it’s crazy there’s just a presence of a DW sound🔥🥁
Very thuddy sounding with no resonance. But I actually prefer that style sound but prefer little more resonance. I’m a Tama guy and tune my Starclassic bb’s low with clear vintage emperors and get this same style sound but it has more resonance than this.
