Gilbert Arenas has his Freshman son take the Untraditional route in going to Chatsworth Highschool instead of teaming up with other star kids. Gilbert and Alijah talk about him playing against adults early on and growing as a player at Chatsworth. Great Advice and knowledge in this interview.

Exactly the approach I have taken for my son. I refused for him to play on a local team that had several good players on it. Being on a team like that is good for winning but not helpful in creating a killer.

Woo, man, Gil's too smart. Whatever complaint a person has about the man, he walks what he talks. No way to guarantee getting to the NBA, but the amount of thought he put in - the depth of the collaboration with his kid? Impressive. Really impressive.

Thank you Gilbert! Real ones play up to get better. You have all these kids reclassing down thinking they’re going to get better.

Say what??? You sound ignorant AF! You don’t think he had scouting reports on teams and players during his time in College and the Pro’s? He also went to the University of Arizona he’s not stupid bro. You can’t be a great player without being highly intelligent … smh

The more you learn about Gil, the more you realize he’s a very smart man. He’s made some dumb decisions that have been very public, but he is very smart. He does his research. I don’t always agree with his opinions, but nobody can deny how much research he put into the subject. He’s the guy in a debate that wrote out his notes, his points, and counterpoints for responses he expects to receive

The only thing better than a great individual player is a great team player that makes others better, not that makes his other teammates reduced to less confident players. That’s the name of the game now days, making yourself better

My goal is to get my son on a team that other kids CAN'T transfer to or be recruited to... it's random lottery selection, they have to grow up and play with my son to make it on the team.

Being a really good player at a young age and playing on a great team is like playing a game on “easy mode”. How do you know how good you’re if the entire team is number 1 picks.

I think we might have a top 5 draft pick on our hands.......sad thing is Gilbert had hall of fame talent...... just no discipline. I think his son will have both.

No discipline? How did you come to that?! Lol. Because he got in trouble? What?
@juanmonster6232
@juanmonster6232 Год назад
@@j-us-t_be-in-g you answered your own question. The NBA gets tax payer dollars, and players are expected to uphold a certain image. Gil did not do that and was out of the NBA far sooner than he should have been. Easily a top 5 scorer all time if he took the game more serious.
@stevenscummy1458
@stevenscummy1458 2 месяца назад
Gil was disciplined when it came to training and hooping, just silly in everything else, I think Gil did do about all he could as far as making himself a better player, of course he didn't like to pass the ball but that's a different subject. Gilbert Arenas was physically gifted, but he wasn't overbearingly physically gifted like LeBron, Giannis, AI, etc, Gil had to work hard to become an NBA player and eventual all-star at the point guard position which is the position with the most competition of all basketball positions But you're right, if Alijah is more disciplined and crafts a good image he'll also make more money through endorsements

Plus as a freshman what is he gonna benefit from sitting behind 5 stars and 4 stars until like his junior year when u can go to a small school gets exposed gain your offers then maybe make the move once you are set and also by the time he’s a senior he’ll be able to go to the league if he’s good enough.
@Christopher68Young
@Christopher68Young Год назад
It's not true for 100% of the players bruh, he didn't mean each and every player will be a prefect role player at the next level by playing on stacked teams there are always gonna be exceptions that's with everything in life but a large majority become complacent when playing with other stars while young. Can't take every word he says at full value, it's some dogs that came out and dominated after being on s super team while young but they might've already had that dog in them before they teamed up we don't know, everybody's situation is always gonna be different. 💯
